Chapter 17 - Volume 2 Chapter 7 - The Captain

Lydia was in the kitchen of her house, cleaning the dishes with scrub which looked surprisingly very old, the foam bubbles were all over her face. It was in late night and her mom told her that she would be late today.

By then she heard a knock on her wooden door, Who could that be? She took out her apron and gloves, wiped her head and went till her door and looked at the small peephole and saw that it was Benjamin. She opened up her door.

"You are that boy who came to our class yesterday..... ummm was it...Benjamin Franklin?"

"It's Benjamin Martin!"

"Oh Okay! Anyway... why are you here?"

"Ummm... you are... Almer's close friend right?"

"Well ya...Why?

"You know how... The Sapphires are loosing every year... we really want to win this year... so maybe... could you ask Almer to come back?"

"You do realize I am in the Citrines right? Why do you think I would help a fellow competitor?" Lydia asked as she folded her arms in.

"Umm...." Benjamin was completely nervous, not knowing what to tell his senior.

"Of course I will help you, it's better to have tough competition then an easy win, and I also want Almer to move his body at least one inch." Benjamin heard this from her and he thanked him and smiled from ear to ear.

------------------NEXT DAY IN SCHOOL---------------------

"I cannot believe what I am about to do." Benjamin said to himself as he was walking down the hallway in school. He is completely nervous.

"You know who you should ask to ask Almer to come back?" That sentence said by Lydia played in Benjamin's head, "The captain of the Sapphires."

"Excuse me... Can I get the Captain of the Sapphires?" Benjamin asked a 12th grader.

"Can you wait for a moment? She is doing her 156th arm wrestling with the head boy."

"She is what?"

A huge bang noise on the table was heard and it brought everyone's attention in the class.

"Well... that's her 156th win..."

"Of course! The strongest person in 12th grade won it again!! Aria Harrison!! The captain of the Sapphires!" A random 12th grader said it.

"DAMN IT!! I WON'T LOOSE TO YOU NEXT TIME!!" Liam (Head Boy) was ranging in anger.

"Yo! Aria! A kid wants to ask you something." Someone told and Aria got up from her seat and walked forward to the door. Benjamin was standing there all shivering from the Aura he is getting from her.

"What is it?"

"Ummmm you asked me to.... ask Almer Wayne to come back to the badminton club..."

"And what did he say?"

"He said no..."

"And what is the reason?"

"Cause.... he is....to lazy to work....."

"Oh really?" Aria said as she punched her palm. Benjamin saw that and made him squash his own gut.

Lydia, Almer and Lara were in the cafeteria eating their lunch. The fresh apple with salad and noodles is just so good to eat.

"Umm so Almer, why aren't you joining the team again?" Lydia asked her friend.

"Not this again! Let me tell you one thing! I don't want to spend my time in things like these." By the time he said that, Aria and Benjamin were already standing behind him.

"Umm Almer..."

"NO LET ME FINISH LARA! Let me tell you! Even if that scary Martin kills me also I won't come."

"Almer!" Lydia whispered.

"WHAT?!"

"She is right behind you..."

Almer turned his head slowly around and saw The captain of the Sapphires...

"C-C-Captain!?" Almer said in surprise.

"A little birdie told me that you didn't want to join the club cause you was really lazy to join."

"Ummmm really?" Almer said in complete nervousness.

Aria is a very strict person, even if she talks in a kind manner, people still get nervous. Even Kian himself is afraid of her.

"Why don't you join the club?" Aria asked Almer with a sweet smile, looking straight into his eyes. But behind that smile was a threatening look.

"Y-Yes.."

"It's okay if you don't join us."

"No No, I will join the club.."

"Good to know."

After saying that Aria and Benjamin left the cafeteria and within few seconds the bell rang which made everyone to hurry back to their classes.

After the school, Lydia went to the basketball gym and saw Aria sitting in one of the benches, scribbling on her book related to something important. Lydia walked to her direction and due to the hall being empty, her footsteps were really loud.

"Hey, Lydia!"

Lydia got flabbergasted by Aria. She went nervously to her and sat next to her in the bench.

"Um...how do you know my name?" Lydia asked out of curiosity.

"That day what happened in MPH made you really famous in our school...even though that wasn't really a good fame...."

"Yeah..."

Both of them were sitting there silently, not knowing what to tell each other. It was so awkward for Lydia that she wanted to punch her own twisted gut.

"You really are a brave person...." Lydia said without realizing what she said. This made Aria in a bit of a shock.

"UMM I AM SO SORRY! I SHOULD HAVE NOT SAID THAT!! PLS DON'T KILL ME!" Lydia said it in a way that as if she was going to get killed by Aria.

"Why do you think I am brave?" Aria asked.

"Cause... of many reasons... and you are the first ever female who got the role of being a captain... usually that role is given to boys..."

"Oh yeah... actually. I was a very big scaredy cat before... I used to be afraid of everything."

"Are you talking about you or your long lost twin sister?"

"You really like to make jokes about your senior huh?"

"I AM SORRY" Lydia said as she closed her palm together. "Then.." Lydia continued. "What made you so brave?"

"This happened maybe when I was in middle school. I was buying something from the grocery store and that's when a group of gangsters came into the shop to kill people for fun. I was really terrified and I thought that it would be my end. But that's when a women with purple suit came in and punched them all out! The sight of her kicking all those people with her braveness was so inspiring that it changed me a lot."

"Where is she now?"

"I don't know, I haven't seen her since then... I searched everywhere to find her..."

"Oh...."

---------------SOME OTHER PLACE------------------

Kian and his best friend Adam were near their lockers as they were taking some of their notebooks out. Adam saw Kian who is struggling with his bag, trying to zip it.

"Do you need help?" Adam asked.

"Maybe a little.." Kian said and Adam went to him and clasped his bag for him. Kian closed his zip quickly and kept his bag on his back.

"You seem distressed Adam." Kian said to Adam.

"Oh it's nothing."

Both the boys left the school and it was already late. They both were walking on the street alone in the dark night.

"Um...why isn't your driver here to pick you up today?" Adam asked.

"She is busy with some other things." Kian replied.

"Hey... what should we do if those crazy gangsters come again..." Adam asked Kian.

"Don't worry... they won't attack us..." Kian said with a very high confidence.

"Talking about this... So you and Lydia....huh.... both of you seems to be on bad terms..."

"Why are you bringing this up?"

"I don't know.... maybe You went a bit overboard that day at MPH."

Kian heard this and stopped walking, followed by Adam and he also stopped walking.

"Why do you think I went overboard Adam?" Kian asked and he looked straight into Adam's eyes. His look pierced Adam's mind. It's like as if Kian is telling him to shut up and mind his own business.

"Cause... recently her father passed away.... and you-"

"Her father is dead?"

"Yeah... you did not know?"

"No..."

"That might be the reason why... if you knew then you might have not..."

"Even if I knew or did not know I would still do that to her cause she ruined the school's reputation."

Kian said those words and he left Adam behind.

"His heart is as hard as stone."

Adam ran to Kian who left him behind and they went home that night.
