Chapter 9
Botan was finally getting used to their being two new people in the house. He was jealous of Tsubasa for no reason other than the fact that Kaida was the only adult female vampire. He was also aware that it was not something that Tsubasa could not control very well. Still being a young vampire, giving in was a lot easier than constantly trying to ignore the impulses that came with it. By this point, both Kaida and Tsubasa had been vampires for just under ten years now. Hell, it took Botan almost three hundred years to keep himself in check, so there was no way he could fault either one of them.
The days were spent in a minor whirlwind. Getting used to having children in the mansion was a rather difficult task to do. But one they all had to overcome. Aya and Bai seemed to be adjusting fairly well. With the help of some minor hypnosis thanks to Botan, their adjustment period seemed to go much smoother. Since they were only three years old at this point, it was decided that a tutor would be brought in to start helping them learn to write first and foremost. Knowing that most children started to go to school at around seven years of age, but with them being taught for the laws and ways of vampires, they placed them in right away. The teacher inside the city of Oshu had no objections to entering them early. After all, it was a specific request from the lords of the lands. And they had been firm on keeping their promise to protect them no matter what the costs may be.
With Aya and Bai there, the years seemed to fly by. They were being educated each and every day on all the proper etiquette functions of vampire society and the way things were being run with the city they governed. They had little memory of the old village life they once had. They had even been allowed to accompany everyone on their weekly trips to the city of Oshu that were outside the trips for schooling. Taking them to see everything from the medical clinic to the various stores of fabrics, armor, weapons, and various other wares. There had been little activity on the part of the lessors as they had no ability to cross the barriers that had been placed by the lords. Kaida had even managed to figure out a way to make most of them even stronger than before. With the patrols constantly keeping vigil, the threats were at a minimum. And so, the years seemed to pass in this fashion. Kaida and Tsubasa had even properly educated them on the facts that in vampire society, it was not uncommon for family members to marry. Thus, Aya and Bai made no efforts to argue the point. Seeing it firsthand in Kaida and Tsubasa did make it easier on them to accept. To them, these vampire ways were normal.
They spent plenty of time getting familiar with everything. They seemed to be quite happy living with them. The people in the city of Oshu had come to know the two girls well and knew that they would have their role in helping to protect them. Therefore, every time many of the craftsman of any variety seen the carriage of the lords come into the city, they were ready with various gifts and clothing. It seemed no matter how much they told the townsfolk to stop with the gifts, they never seemed to stop coming. Though one of the lords was always there in the long run to pay them for the materials at the very least. After all, it was their livelihood that they were shorting themselves on.
During all this time, Kaida had also managed to expand the library, ten times over. The flow of information never seemed to stop. There was no shortage of information being written down, even years after she started to document. It was as if the stone was making sure to fill her to the top with the knowledge that had not been able to be passed on in the thousand years the queen had been missing. It had now been seven years since they were brought to the mansion. Most of their starting habits had now been ingrained. With each passing day, they were getting bigger. They were now ten years old.
Thankfully though, Aya and Bai had kept in good spirits and rather enjoyed their time in the mansion and all the visits to the town of Oshu. They also got them used to the idea that there was no real need to celebrate their birthdays to a high degree. It would make it easier on them when they were older since vampires lived for a long time. After all, it had been seven years so far and Botan seemed fine with no one bothering with his birthday. So, the girls accepted it as part of the way's vampires are. But Kaida and Tsubasa still did their best to give them a new outfit on that day. Things continued this way for some time to come.
As the following years came, and went, they grew up with the ways of the vampire. Most of the information they learned so ingrained into them now it was like second nature. Never once arguing that the ways were odd or out of place for humans. This was the trade-off, to know the vampire laws by heart. The time had now come, they were now of age, 18 years old, just like Kaida was. They worked for the last fifteen years to achieve this goal and had been accepted by all in the mansion as well as the town of Oshu. With the time now right, they all gathered into the main hall once again to decide how to proceed with certain things. Thanks to the help of the clairvoyance when they were young, Kaida was able to pick the two that would be of the greatest help.
Kaida Endo: (Sitting in the throne specifically designed for her, she swirled a glass as she looked upon everyone with a serious look…) "The time has now come. You will now become one of us fully. Please be patient with the process."
Tsubasa Endo: (Sitting to Kaida's left…) "You two have been preparing for this day for the past fifteen years. Now the time has come."
Botan Date: (Still sitting next to Kaida's right side…) "We will now have the two lords choose which one of you two to turn. Once that is done, we will then head to your room so you can sleep for the days it takes for your turning. If you would like to bathe first, no one would object."
Bai Endo: (Standing semi-nervously, she took her place next to her cousin Aya…) "I understand Queen Kaida. I am prepared."
Aya Endo: "I am also ready Queen Kaida. I am also prepared to help you in this important endeavor."
Dai Haku: "You both have been raised to follow our society. Now this is the last step before becoming pure blood like the rest of us."
Haruko Ikeda: "We have tried our best to instill all the values of our society. Once changed, I hope you will hold up to them."
Kano Nishio: "This will now become the most challenging time of your entire lives. Thanks to the help of the people we help to take care of, we do not want for much. Remember to take care of the people and the people will take care of us."
Bai and Aya Endo: "Yes, we understand. Uphold the laws, maintain the traditions, and take care of the people, least we parish."
Kaida Endo: "Very good. Now let us head to your room. You will most likely sleep for up to three days max while the change takes place. We already have taken the precaution of mixing each of you a bottle of blood. Your hunger will be like nothing you have ever known. Now let us depart for your room."
Tsubasa Endo: "Your transition will be quite tiresome indeed. Even after waking up, we were both still very tired. But that will quickly fade with time."
Everyone headed out of the main hall and headed straight for Aya and Bai's room. Once they entered, they took their places next to their beds. It was then decided that Dai and Kano would change them. Prepping themselves they closed their eyes as each lord did their part. Gently arching the girls, Dai, and Kano each bit down on them, drinking in a few good-sized mouthfuls each. Biting each of their own arms, they took in large mouthfuls. Placing their lips on them, they had Aya and Bai drink the rough equivalent of two mugs. As the jolts began to hit their bodies, they each lied them upon their beds. Sitting next to their beds in a chair, Dai and Kano sat to watch their change unfold. With a look of satisfaction, Kaida and Tsubasa left the room and went into Kaida's bedroom. Taking a seat at her desk, she began to write down the information in detail of their change and the events leading to it. This would be archived with the rest of the records she had been making for the immediate members of the household. Their cries could periodically be heard as the jolts hit their hardest on that first day. Sighing in frustration, Kaida grabbed up some clean clothes and decided to go and bathe. At this point, there was nothing she herself could actually do to help. The process would have to complete itself. Making sure of everything she needed, she promptly headed down the hall. Little did she realize that Botan and Tsubasa were right on her heels. She sighed once more, shaking her head as she entered the bath. Turning once she entered, she looked at them both as if they were lost dogs. Turning abruptly, she placed one hand on her hips.
