Chapter 100 - Stopped functioning

Stella sighed and left them at it as she leaned towards the driver's seat and whispered, "Hey Sharp, where are we going?" The whisper was a human level whisper and Stella was sure everyone in the car had heard it, but they all pretended not to as Sharp cast a quick glance at her before replying, "June's family home."

"Hmm. . . . . ." Stella thought before asking once again, "What is it like?" She would have expected Sharp to either not answer or answer directly. He wasn't really the talkative type. And even when he did speak, he kept his sentences short and to the point. So she was very surprised when Sharp turned to look at her and a mischievous smile played on his lips. "I'm not telling you. I want to see your honest reaction." he said, and pinched Stella's nose before focusing on the road again.

Stella settled back into Allen's lap with a dazed look on her face. She couldn't really remember what Sharp had said, couldn't remember anything other than that playful smirk of his. The way his perfect thin lips had curved upwards on one side, had left Stella breathless and made her heart stop. The memory of it still made her heart race.

She had stopped functioning and even doubted that she had actually died for a few moments. She had only come back to reality or life when Sharp had pinched her nose. Stella shook her head as she thought about the moment. "I shouldn't. I really shouldn't. I can't fall for him." she thought to herself, but the sight of Sharp's lips floated in her mind and she blushed at her own thoughts upon that.

Stella was brought out of her fantasies by a sudden pair of cold hands on her cheeks. Her eyes widened thinking it was Sharp, and she would have stopped functioning again had not Allen spoken and made her realize it was him. "What's wrong Shortcake? Your face is all red. Is the car too hot for you?" he asked.

Stella shook her head and spoke as Simon reached out to feel her forehead and see if she had a fever, "A bit. But it's fine with you guys around." Allen nodded as Simon leaned back into his seat and murmured, "I don't think she has a fever, but I can't be sure. All humans feel too hot to me. Maybe I should get the thermometer?" he mused.

"Please don't." Stella begged. "I'm fine. Don't baby me." "How can we not? You look so much like one." Allen said, ruffling Stella's hair as she pouted and shook her fists at him.

A score of laughter filled the car upon Stella's reaction and as everyone was busy imitating her, Sharp leaned towards her and quietly whispered, "You sure you're okay?" His whisper was a vampire whisper that would not even have been heard by Allen, but Stella made it out due to her weird ass powers. She nodded as a faint blush again began to creep on her cheeks.

She looked out the window with a dazed expression as Sharp let out a smile and went back to driving. "What's with him and all the smiling?" Stella wondered to herself. "Sure he looks like a god when he smiles, but he doesn't usually smile. So what's the big idea today?"
