Chapter 72 - You're underestimating me

Besides, even if Stella could delude herself into thinking Sharp would come after her, she knew the sounds of his footsteps very well.

And this, was not him.

Stella's mind run like lightning as she pondered whether to run or fight. Because she was sure these were the only two options.

In an instant, the decision was taken.

Just as the footsteps stopped for a moment, Stella turned on her heels and ran.

She was in an unfamiliar part of the forest, but Stella was sure she would come out of it if she kept running.

But Stella was no vampire. She might have unnatural running speed, but her stamina was just like before. Soon Stella was panting and her body was screaming at her to stop.

Stella involuntarily slowed down and she could hear the footsteps catching upto her.

Stella stopped and crouched.

She knew fighting was her only option, she couldn't outrun whatever was chasing her.

"Maybe it's just someone curious. Doesn't necessarily....." Stella had begun to console herself when she heard a voice and her mind went blank.

"Ooooo!!!! It's her! It's her!! I'll keep her all for myself this time! That stupid livestock!"

A growl escaped Stella's lips as she instantly recognised the person.

All her fear was suddenly replaced with anger. Her limbs, which had been frozen with nervousness, began to itch in anger.

Stella full on growled even before the person came into view.

Her follower stopped and Stella clearly heard a chuckle, followed by the words, "You're copying us filthy bloodsuckers now huh?"

"She feels different. Did someone turn her? No! Her blood still smells the same. Then what is it??" Stella heard as though these words had been clearly spoken.

Stella smiled to herself.

Good. She had a upper hand. She could hear this ba*tards thoughts, and he was already a bit confused.

"Why don't you come out? Mazata Zukao? Or are you afraid of a livestock?" Stella asked in a mocking voice.

Mazata Zukao soon came into view. His eyes bright, flaming red. His eyes were so light that Stella instantly knew that he was starving, and the trauma of those eyes kicked in.

But Stella shook her head and focused.

"Oo hello livestock. You are looking well. Someone has clearly been taking care of you." Mazata spoke, his hands in his pocket.

Stella smiled to herself. She had another advantage. He was underestimating her.

"But I can't say your guardian is that good." Mazata spoke with a sigh.

Stella raised an eyebrow, "And why is that?"

"Why? Because he's nowhere to be seen. Is he?" Mazata spoke as a sinister smile played on his lips.

Stella chuckled, "Why do you assume he's not here. Just because you can't see him?"

"Buying time won't get you anywhere livestock. You know of our capabilities right?" Mazata said as he began to walk towards Stella.

"Yeah I do. But looks like you don't know about my capabilities." Stella spoke and even before Mazata knew what was happening, she had already climbed on his back and was holding a knife to his throat.

Stella chuckled as she heard Mazata's thoughts. This guy, was surprised out of his wits. Stella tried to take advantage of this and wound Mazata enough to be able to run away, but she had gotten a bit too overconfident in her own capabilities.
