Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Hidden Village

When I woke up, I was lying down on the floor of a cave again. Sitting to my right with his back turned to me, was my knight in shining armor.

He sensed my movements and turned around to face me. I cautiously got up and backed away.

"James." he said, stretching his hand indicating for a handshake.

I was skeptical for a moment, but then I shook his hand and responded, "Kloe."

"Ok, Kloe." He said "What's a girl like you doing out here in the middle of the forest?"

"My genie's injured and she needs help." I blurted.

"Oh? I thought that lantern looked familiar." he then gave a semi-cautious look, "Prove it."

I picked up the lantern and held it to my face, then whispered, "Julia, you can come out." Then set it down on the ground.

The lantern shone and Julia came out. She looked like she was on the verge of life and death.

James was skeptical before, but once he saw Julia, his pupils widened and he was temporarily stunned.

James got up and ran towards the entrance of the cave saying, "Come with me!".

I was confused, but at this point didn't have much of a choice, so I made Julia go back in the lantern and ran after James.

After a short while on a strange path, James informed me that we have arrived.

As he revealed a giant wooden gate, he said, "Welcome, to the hidden village of Montineui."

He opened the gate and we went inside. He was explaining the situation to a couple that kind of looked familiar to me.

The female looked distressed after hearing what James had said, she took the lantern and ran towards one of the huts in the village.

"And who were they?" I asked James.

"Oh" James snickered, "To think, you would have known your own genie's parents."

"Wait wa?" My jaw dropped.

I can't believe that I just met Julia's parents and said nothing. Talk about bad impressions.

3rd Person Narrative

The young man that was following Kloe before was still close on her tail. He was now standing on a tree branch overlooking the gate.

He pressed on an earpiece in his right ear and communicated, "Everything is going according to plan; I have now located the village."

A voice replied, "Good. I want the genie. Kill the rest of them if you have to."

He then gave off a menacing smirk. He took out the book again and opened it.
