Bi Zhen blinked. He looked up at the ceiling of the room and frowned angrily. He was going to kill Yue Yang later. He had taken a liking towards this Gege but… Bi Zhen was still angry.
---
Earlier that day, Yue Yang had been sent on a mission to another city to help with a certain issue. Bi Zhen had been unwittingly volunteered by his friend to accompany Yue Yang. Imagine Bi Zhen's absolute shock when Yue Yang asked him if they were going soon. Bi Zhen had good fighting skills yet… he wasn't really sure if he clicked with the whole concept of being a cultivator. He looked up at Yue Yang and shrugged sheepishly.
"Gege is mistaken… I didn't offer to go on this journey… I'm not good at this side of cultivation." Bi Zhen had eventually agreed to go. Who had volunteered him?
Bi Zhen had been interested in the whole affair anyways. He hadn't gotten a chance to leave his palace often. From his classes in Chess, painting, calligraphy, instruments he barely had any time at all even in the palace itself. Thus, walking with Yue Yang peacefully to the village had been… unexpectedly nice. Sure the older boy made strange offhand comments occasionally yet Bi Zhen felt relaxed and at ease. However, a little bit of info I missed from earlier. What if... this good friend who had volunteered Bi Zhen, was Yue Yang himself! Determined to spend a little more time with the male, he had suggested Bi Zhen go with him instead of Zi Zhen. And that… was how the duo ended up on the road together. Unfortunately, not a perfect match from heaven, yet a precise one from a certain phoenix.
---
Bi Zhen fiddled with the red cloth over his head. He wasn't a girl! He had no need for a veil…
He buried his face in his hands, thoroughly embarrassed. Oh, his pride!
---
The case had been an interesting one. It seemed as if brides from that town just kept seemed to go missing. Yue Yang had decided that they should lure the ghosts out and… between the two, Bi Zhen certainly looked more feminine.
Bi Zhen felt like punching Yue Yang in the face. While it certainly wasn't his fault, Bi Zhen felt as if he just wanted to complain to someone, just slightly. Bi Zhen sat in the sedan carrier in silence, Yue Yang had walked in front of the sedan, holding one of the sides. He unsurprisingly supported a full ⅔ of the sedan's weight.
Bi Zhen was still distraught. His poor pride!
Thankfully for the phoenix outside, our little 'bride' had not seen the strange expression Yue Yang had on his face. Yue Yang had flushed slightly. He had frowned when the ladies of the house had been making up a very reluctant and grumpy Bi Zhen. Yue Yang had laughed then but yet, he had been blown away by how Bi Zhen seemed to grow ten times now beautiful with the slight rogue brushed on his cheek with his face powdered slightly. His dark purple hair had been done up nicely with a large hairpin on complimenting him. He had subsequently slipped on the rest of the red and golden robes. He subsequently tossed the veil over his face haphazardly. He noticed Yue Yang had been lurking in the corner. Quietly, he covered his face in shame and he gestured to Yue Yang to move out of the shadows.
"They say I should have been born a girl… what an excellent dowry I could have fetched." Bi Zhen's voice was laden with sarcasm and he was obviously extremely uncomfortable.
"I'm so sorry… later on, please let Gege do something for you in return." Yue Yang had given him a mocking bow. His lips had brushed over Bi Zhen's hand but Bi Zhen somehow hadn't noticed.
"Gege is very generous however… I really don't need anything from Gege… maybe… if I could have a chance to call you in a time of need, would that be fine?" Bi Zhen muttered softly.
---
The ghost hadn't come yet. Was his chest too flat that it was noticeable that he wasn't a girl? Bi Zhen shifted uncomfortably.
"Ahh~ another one~ This one is gorgeous yet… is missing some… assets." Bi Zhen's face flushed up in horror and he knocked on the sedan carrier three times. The pace of the carrier slowed slightly.
The insult burned into him and he wanted to kill himself.
"Who cares, your husband will never see your flat chest anyways, what a waste of a pretty face." The sedan was filled with black smoke and Bi Zhen coughed. He held his hand high and his eyes glowed bright. He removed the veil from his head and dashed out. He gave out a strangled cry when he realised that the sedan carrier was no longer along the mountain path but… in a same strange cave. His voice was definitely lower than a girl's. He held his breath and he loosened the robes, tsk! He was not meant for these!
Bi Zhen slowly lit his hand up and began to peer round the area. It was damp, dark.
Bi Zhen noticed there was a small monastery nearby. He moved towards it slowly. Near the temple, he covered his mouth as his pupils shrank in horror. He stepped back slightly and let out a quiet nervous laugh. How disgusting.
