Chapter 6 - An odd bride ghost 3

"THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE?!" Bi Zhen knew that spirits couldn't escape from spiritual frowned. It was so odd. bags quietly. They would usually make a huge racket. The both of them hadn't been that absorbed in their conversation, were they?

"Gege! Do you have any clue??" Bi Zhen began to freak out.

"No… the bag is totally empty and clean. It's as if… nothing had been in there." Yue Yang

That's when… it hit Bi Zhen. His face lit up brightly and he had a sly smile on his face.

"That's because… there wasn't anything in THAT bag in the first place!" Yue Yang's eyes widened. It wasn't out of the question that someone had stolen his bag. He should have watched it more carefully instead of letting his eyes linger on Bi Zhen the entire time.

"Are you suggesting the bag was stolen?!"

This was bad. Very. Very. Bad. Had he been so absorbed in whatever strange conversation they were having that the bag could have simply been switched? RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE?!

He felt like an absolute fool.

"How would I know?! The bag was nearer to you anyways!"

"Well, you were facing my direction so you should've seen something?"

"I didn't see anything! Why would I be looking down anyways? Do you talk to people with your eyes below their waist?"

Silence.

"Erm. Obviously not."

"Exactly. When do you think the bag could have been switched. Wasn't it resting against your foot earlier?" Bi Zhen mused.

Yue Yang then remembered that the heavy sack had been resting against his foot earlier yet… he hadn't really moved… had he?

"Gege! When you smoothed the cloak back onto my shoulders, that was when they might have switched the bags."

Yue Yang's eyes widened. Goodness! It had just been for a second?! Had he really taken that long just to smooth a cloak up?

"If the thief is that quick… he would have long disappeared…" Yue Yang sighed loudly, screaming softly into his hands. That bag… it had been a gift too. Wait…

He picked the empty bag that he had dropped on the floor. He examined the patterns on the silk. It was exactly like his bag!

Now… who had given him the bag? All of a sudden, the memory seemed to float out of Yue Yang's head. He had remembered that the soul catching bag had been a gift. It remembered it was from someone special.

Yet, WHO HAD IT BEEN?!

"Gege… do you recognise the bag?" Bi Zhen asked softly. He had tip-toed slightly and his lips were right next to Yue Han's ear. Yue Han could hear his quickened breathing. He too was nervous.

"Yes… This bag… I had gotten one as a gift yet… I cannot remember who gave it to me!" Yue Yang tsk-ed, thoroughly frustrated.

"Could I see?" Yue Yang passed the bag to Bi Zhen grudgingly.

"Mhn…" Bi Zhen turned over the bag in his hands a few times. He admired the intricately woven and embroidered silk. His mother would probably have wanted this sort of material for a dress. Bi Zhen laughed lightly, his chuckle sounding like wind chimes. Yue Yang raised an eyebrow. What was so funny?

"You got it as a gift, didn't you Gege?"

"Yes…" Yue Yang continued to rack his brain. Where was that memory… WHERE? WAS HE BECOMING OLD?! HAD HIS MEMORY BECOME LIKE A GOLDFISH'S?!

"Gege… is this bag valuable?"

Yue Yang thought for a moment before replying. This, he remembered.

"Yes. It's easy to tell it's of high value. The silk! The intricate patterns…" Yue Yang continued to rack his brain, occasionally coughing out strange strangled noises reflecting his frustration. He seemed to be beating himself up a little, too hard, for laying too much attention to Bi Zhen. If only he had had one eye, JUST ONE EYE! On the bag. He could still have gazed at Bi Zhen as much as he wanted. He felt ashamed.

"Gege. This means, whoever stole your bag has to be someone you know. Maybe." Bi Zhen grinned widely. Yue Yang thought about it for a while.

How was Bi Zhen beautiful, talented and smart?

The world was unfair!

"Where did you get the bag from?" Bi Zhen asked slowly.

"Huh… I think I got it from… my cousin." Yue Yang pursed his lips and frowned. He hadn't really talked to her in a while.

"Then… let's go meet this cousin of yours, shall we?"

Yue Yang looked surprised for a second before raising his head up to the sky, smirking.

"Yes. Let's go."
