Chapter 11 - Hobgoblin

From all the video games Hunter has played, he knew exactly what a Hobgoblin looked like. Unlike the other goblins that only wore a garment covering their privates, it wore a tunic.

The tunic seemed to be made of leather and seemed to have a sturdy defense. The Hobgoblin was bigger than the other goblins, but still a little smaller than Hunter. It also had that same disgusting face with a long nose. It also wielded a one-hand axe.

It was now time for Hunter to figure out a plan of attack. Hunter remembered that he had packed that wire earlier, but wasn't sure how he could put it to use.

He thought about using it as tripwire at the door way, but it would be nearly impossible to sneak up to the doorway. The doorway was guarded by two goblins and he was sure he wouldn't go unnoticed.

Hunter wasn't willing to take too many risk. If he went in guns a blazing, he might be able to win, but he never had a chance to gauge the strength of the hobgoblin.

Goblins were a lot stronger than the zombies. Not only did they have more strength, they also wielded weapons. From what he could see three of the goblins wielded spears, so it would be difficult to get in close distance with them.

As Hunter was focused on figuring out a plan of attack, he noticed something strange. Two of the goblins seemed to getting ready to leave.

Hunter and Kendall were hidden behind a gas pump at the time, and weren't in the best position to avoid any contact. He only chose that position, because it was the place to scout the area.

Hunter grabbed Kendall again and raced over to the car that Michaela was also hiding behind.

"You need to stop picking me up! It's embarrassing! You.. You.. You.."Kendall was about to insult her brother again, but Hunter cut her off hastily and said, "Just Watch."

Kendall the focused her vision towards the gas station again and that is when she saw the two goblins coming out.

'This is the perfect opportunity to improve my odds. If I can take down these two goblins, his chances of killing the others and the hobgoblin would increase.' Hunter thought.

"Let's follow these two and I'll strike them when they are about a 100 meters from the gas station." Hunter told Kendall while getting ready to move out.

The two goblins after leaving the gas station, started making their way towards the downtown area. Hunter lived in a small suburb outside of Trinity City.

That city had over 300,000 people living in it and is where most people from his small town, Mayberry, went to work. His town only had about 5,000 residents.

Hunter also worked in Trinity City, he was glad he had left late for work this morning, because if he hadn't he wouldn't of been able to protect his sister.

Hunter started to follow the goblins for about 50 meters and soon started to see the downtown area. Every building was almost completely destroyed, and was wrapped with these mysterious vines. It looked quite apocalyptic.

Hunter then saw the two goblins pass three zombies on the side of the road. Hunter noticed that the zombies made no reaction towards the goblins. He was curious to why these monsters only seemed to fight humans.

Hunter had to quickly take down these zombies before letting the goblins know he was sneakily following them. Michaela was still curious about her mystery man, and was still following a distance away.

After the goblins were about 25 meters away from the zombies, Hunter rushed towards the zombies. The quickly used Dagger Strike to cut off two of the zombies heads.

The other zombie noticed his friends dying and started walking towards Hunter. The zombie was about to make a groan, but before the zombie did Hunter quickly chopped of it head.

Hunter saw the transparent screen pop up in his vision, but was sad he didn't gain a level. He wanted to save a kill for his sister, but didn't want to possibly alert the goblins.

After the goblins were about 100 meters away from the gas station, Hunter knew this would be his best time to strike. He was about to move from his position, but then noticed something weird.

The goblins stopped moving and stood their position. Hunter was curious to what they were doing, so he didn't move out yet. When he was contemplating whether to strike or not, he then saw two figures coming from the distance.
