Kendall looked out the window and could not believe what she saw.
It was now daylight and she could see everything clearly.
The gas station across the street also had vines going through it. Same as the other apartment complex next to it. She noticed that there was no lights on coming from any of the buildings.
'Hunter wasn't lying about the power outage, that's for sure.' Kendall then began to look at the streets and what she saw shook her even more.
There was a girl running away from something. When she focused her eyesight a little more, she saw clearly what the girl was running from. It was a goblin.
The goblin had a spear in his hand, and only wore clothing covering his privates. It was very ugly looking and was catching up to the girl he was chasing
"Hunter, come look real quick! There is a goblin chasing a girl. We need to go save her!" She screamed at Hunter to come take a look and see if he could help.
Hunter quickly joined his sister at the window and saw the same scene his sister was seeing and then bit his lip.
"I can't save her." Hunter calmly said then bit his lip again. He was disappointed in his inability to do anything for that lady.
Soon after Hunter told Kendall that. The goblin threw his spear towards the lady and pierced through her heart. She was dead.
Kendall turned away, fell to the ground and rolled up into a ball with tears in her eyes. "This can't be real. This can't be real. This can't be real." Kendall kept repeating the same thing over and over.
Hunter didn't have time to aid his sister at the moment. He was focused on the goblin to see what it would do next.
The goblin walked up to the lifeless girl's body and pulled out his spear. The goblin then dragged the woman's body to inside of the gas station and what Hunter saw next shocked him.
Inside the gas station he saw 2 more goblins letting the other goblin inside. Then they quickly retreated into the gas station.
'This must be their hideout. I wonder how many more goblins are inside.'
After Hunter saw the goblins go inside the gas station, he then turned to comfort his sister.
"Kendall this is no time to be crying. We need to come up with a plan on how we will survive. We need weapons and rations."
Kendall then turned towards her brother and looked at him still with tears in her eyes. She was scared, but her brother was always there to protect her. She looked up to him and knew he was right.
"What am I suppose to do? I can't fight and I have never been in a sport or anything. What can I do? I would only be a burden to you." Kendall was still frightened by the monsters and was pitying herself.
"Become stronger. It's that simple." Hunter replied with a warm smile on his face. He then went on to say, "I can help you, can't you put a little faith in your big brother?"
Kendall looked up to her brother and smiled. She wiped her tears from her eyes and continued to stand up.
"Let's find a weapon somewhere around this house. We need to get stronger." Hunter then turned towards his kitchen counter and saw some kitchen knifes that fell off the counter and onto the floor after the earthquake. He grabbed three knives, and gave one to his sister.
"This is for you. Use it to protect yourself if needed." Kendall took the knife from Hunter and clenched onto it tightly. She was still scared, but didn't want to be a burden for her brother.
'I don't have the strength to take on all those goblins right now. I should try to see if there are any other lonely zombies around. I need to get my sister to level one as soon as possible,' Hunter thought.
Hunter then went to go grab his backpack and pack some needed supplies for the trip. He packed a first aid kit, very little rations, and his extra knife he grabbed.
'It would be nice if there was an inventory, like there are in the games. That would make traveling a lot easier.' Hunter thought as he sighed.
"Kendall, do you need anything else? If not, let's head out." Hunter said looking at Kendall curiously. He could tell she was still scared, but thought there was nothing he could do to help her. She was going to need to learn bravery for herself.
"I'm good." Kendall responded as she clenched onto her knife tighter. Hunter saw this, but thought nothing more of it.
"Let's go."
