"On to the next objective! We can't lose momentum!" Roger exclaimed.
"Get the wounded on the trucks and everyone else rally on me!" Richard ordered.
Teresa caught up with the others and their squad once again moved ahead of the main group. This time, their objective is to capture a bridge needed so the tanks and other vehicles can cross the river quickly.
"This is gonna be like taking the bridge back in Algeria." Hilbert mumbled as he jogged alongside them.
"Except the three of us weren't there with you. I'm kinda envious that you had an amazing debut." Johann commented.
"You're still not satisfied with our debut? It was pretty good and you did plenty." Teresa added.
"I think my debut was better. Straight into the action right after I arrived." Hugo jokingly said.
"In your dreams!" Johann and Teresa exclaimed in unison.
"I heard that Jeremy had a debut similar to mine. He entered and changed the tides of battle." Hilbert stated.
"Yeah, that guy is a monster. I can't believe that he actually get to have the new surgery." Johann added.
"Well, he wouldn't have that surgery if it wasn't for us who lead the program. He's only like that because the doctor was able to learn from our operations." Hugo commented.
"The bridge is up ahead, split up." Hilbert ordered before moving to a flanking position.
"That's my line." Hugo gritted his teeth while smiling.
"Don't worry, you'll have your turn next time." Teresa added before chuckling.
The four of them went ahead and scouted the area. Teresa climbed up a0 tree and checked the other side of the river. She saw nothing which seemed to be odd. Why would the enemy not guard a bridge that's essential to slowing down their advance? She couldn't shake the feeling off so she went to Hugo and told him her suspicions. The enemy are waiting, preparing an ambush and are aware of them being in the vicinity.
"Do you have any suggestions on how we should go around this situation?" Hugo asked.
"Precisely, we go around. You'll be sitting ducks on the water if they spot you so I'll take care of that." Teresa replied.
"This plan is ballsy as always coming from you who has no balls at all." Hugo said with a straight face.
"Have I ever let you guys down? Just tell the two brutes and I'll take care of the rest." Teresa added before going back to her vantage point.
Hugo sighed and informed Johann and Hilbert before moving into position. Teresa watched from afar and watched the bushes carefully. Looking for even the slightest movement. As the other three went down the bank and into the water, Teresa spots the muzzle of a gun poke out of the bushes. She took a deep breath and slowly exhaled before squeezing the trigger. A loud ping ringed out as the bullet pierced the helmet and hit the enemy soldier in the head.
"Swim faster!" Hugo exclaimed as they hurriedly made their way across the river.
Startled from the sudden gunshot, the enemies came out of their hiding spots and began shooting to the other side of the riverbank. They shot into the shrubs, hoping to hit anyone hiding behind them. Unfortunately, Teresa was above a tree and was far from where they were shooting. Now that their positions were exposed, it was like shooting fish in a barrel for Teresa. Even before the three of them reached the treeline, Teresa already took out nearly half of the enemies. In the sudden panic, the enemies didn't notice Johann approaching from behind them. He slashed his way through the enemy soldiers as Hugo and Hilbert suppressed the other enemies.
"Nice job stalling them!" Jeremy shouted as his squad ran onto the bridge.
Richard's company shortly followed behind Jeremy along with Roger's tank. The enemies tried to detonate the explosives laid all over the bridge's foundations but Hilbert was quick to kill the last of them.
"All done here." Hilbert stated before reloading his gun.
"Why didn't you wait for us? I can't always have you hogging the action, you know?" Jeremy said as he walked up to Hilbert.
"I figured we'd have it under control without you guys." Hilbert replied.
"Trying to show off I see. Well, doesn't matter because I'll soon surpass you." Jeremy boastfully stated.
"What happened to you? Did you jump off the bridge?" Tristan asked Hugo.
"No, I took a refreshing swim since it was getting quite hot a while ago." Hugo answered before laughing.
"The Colonel's unit is not far behind, we can't afford to stop moving so take Hilbert with you and scout ahead." Teresa ordered Johann.
"Talk about Hilbert. Look at him and Jeremy. That's so intimidating, they're fighting in their thoughts." Johann shivered.
Hilbert glared at Jeremy, his stare like daggers. Jeremy on the other hand, was smirking as he looked Hilbert in the eyes. They stood there in silence but they've already traded several blows in their heads. Richard wasn't having any of it so he pulled Jeremy away, giving Johann the chance to get in between the two.
"Oi, save the fighting for the enemy. I know you two are alphas but if you want to compete then compete in kill count." Johann stated.
Hilbert snapped out of it and cocked the slide of his gun before dragging Johann with him. Johann pulled his arm away and drew a sigh as he followed Hilbert.
"Draw them all in. I'll finish them all of." Hilbert coldly ordered.
"If you actually think I'd let you get more kills than myself then you must be crazy. Even though you've only been a Sparrow for a short time, you're slowly inching closer to my kill count." Johann replied.
"I've already surpassed you. I'm fifty-six heads ahead of you." Hilbert stated as he began jogging.
"You can't be serious. You're kidding, right? You were gone for a month so the gap wouldn't have been lessened." Johann added.
"Before I became a Sparrow, I already killed an entire battalion." Hilbert replied before gritting his teeth.
"An entire battalion...?" Johann mumbled as he looked at Hilbert.
