Under the city lies a great city filled with massive networks of tunnels made to house people. To enter this city you have to go enter the security gate that is monitored heavily by a team of security personnel armed to the teeth. Once you reach the first level of the city, you would witness an underground landscape similar to the under-city of Aured. The difference was that this city seems to be made of giant block columns that supports the ceiling, making use of them as housings for the citizens. It truly looked like a wonder city with most of the city floating above this clear canal where the water was being measured through slit markings found on the side.
Jak had no idea where to start so he went for the person with the greatest authority, asking information about the gangs that might be gunning for the airship and the technology brought by them. This city itself had no grand technology, but the way they maintain this city was good enough for study. Though the authorities have a tight control over the gangs lately, the arrival of the Outriders and the people from Haven have become a turning point for them. To rid of the rats hiding inside their fine, they choose to agree with Jak and Yuki's call for extermination. In their hands were the information and obtaining the information made it easier for the two of them to find the gangs.
The city itself was separated within three levels. The upper level was where most of the industrial parts of the city were, and the middle were the residential area. Below the middle level was the place where the rest of the people of this city lives. To reach the lower level of the city, they had to take a lift that took them ten minutes to reach. Upon reaching the lower level, they found themselves surrounded by gangs. Yuki, who preferred to take action, immediately reached out to her ether, freezing their limbs, interrogating them into finding out where they can find the others. Before long it became a bloody campaign that led Jak and Yuki to find places where they might live.
To the gangsters of the city, both were devils who didn't rest. To Jak and Yuki, they were low-level thugs that were not even augmented like the rest of the Aured City. Not to mention that with Jak and Yuki teaming up, there were simply no one other than a beluaman or an etherian in the sixth layer of ether that can defeat them. Even Jak alone was enough with his Ghost Suit being a dominant counter against people like these. It also helped that their pea shooters could not even scratch the suit they are wearing.
Most of the etherians that they found in this city lived a better life as usual. With their strength they live on the surface unafraid of the things to come. Though there are no restrictions on where they might live as long as they can afford it. It was rather cheaper to live in the lower levels where most of the piggery's and cattle farms are located. Jak found it strange to witness this strange crop that needed to be submerged into water. They bloom strange white grains that the people of the city seems to sell by kilos.
Jak saw at least four these paddies while trying to lure rats out of their hiding. It became harder to seek them out with most of them trying to find a way out of the lower level. Unfortunately for them, the area has been blocked by the authorities who supported the purging of the gangs. If they weren't caught by the authorities, they were thrown into jail cells in hopes they can be turned into laborers mining whatever left of the minerals they have not unearthed from the ground.
One of the bosses of the underground city lived in one of the areas blatantly without hiding. Seeing this arrogance, the two walked to the bosses of the city without care for the guards. They found the man whose ambition was dangerous and to cull this danger they had the man shot in the head the moment he dared to speak about justice in front of the two. It was fast and clean. Jak repeated the same line he had been saying ever since he stepped on this city.
"Surrender or be shot."
Some faced the ground trembling, while the rest choose to fight. It was a sad sight that made Jak feel like he was bullying them. He was bullying them. He intended to place the fear of God in them. And it worked so well that tough men cowered at the sight of their steeled human form. When they were done cleaning up the strongest gang in the city within a few hours. They send peace talkers to these gang members in hopes that they can sit down. They were given a choice to come peacefully or be purged like the first one. It didn't help that along the way they made sure to butcher some of their members, intimidating them into coming.
An agreement was reached by the authorities. They would become a part of the city and through them they will control the supply of whatever drugs they were selling in the lower levels.
After the campaign the two climbed back to the surface where most of the crew was waiting for them. Jak faced the sun that he was rather not used to and let his legs hang on the edge. Yuki sat beside him with her eyes glued to the horizon.
"Do you think you'll tired of this?"
"I already am. But someone's got to have their hand dirtied to make the idealistic sons of bitches do better."
"Looks like we'll be getting a few days rest before they call us back into the open."
"Seems like it," Jak bit on a protein bar.
Yuki raised one finger, rotating a crystal of ice with her ether. Her mind wandering to some place where Jak didn't want to ask.
