Chapter 54 - Anger

Jak faced the circle that managed the Estrella. All of them stared with hardy eyes on Jak who showed not a single stir. Yuki crossed her arms. She was three meters away from Jak.

"I see," said the leader of the Estrella. His name was Wisk. He sat on the head and watched Jak with judging eyes.

"Yuki, you think that this stirrer can help us?"

"Help?" she scoffs. "This man had been responsible for stirring the hive. He might not look like much, but he's part of Haven. The very model they based their Ghosts."

"Tell me, why come here?"

"I told you the reason."

Wisk turned to Yuki. "Does this man not know where he is?"

Yuki replied. "Oh, he does, he probably thinks that he can kill all of you here."

"How bold," Wisk said. "But I get where the confidence comes from."

A projection appeared below the seat. Jak expected it, but the appearance of Helga meant that they were in contact with Estrella already. They were planning on heading to this place.

"Jak, that's what you call yourself? You must really hate that Codename we gave you. Your communicator got destroyed, I thought someone got to you. She was worried about you, but I calmed her. You can thank me for that. You two have a strange relationship. To think that you found yourself in the middle of the Estrella circle. This make things easier for us."

One of the men handed him a bracelet that was modded into his grappler. Jak recognized it as a communicator with an augmented reality function. He could feel the Prototype of the Ghost Suit looking for him. The suit itself was symbiotic that it only functioned when in pair with Jak.

Helga smiled. "You really do know when to appear in a good time." She turned to the circle. "It seems that my appearance is not worthy of audience, but our Ghost is capable. You were unbelieving of his capabilities. Have you thought of cooperating with us?"

"Why would we need to do it?" Wisk asked. "Give us a reason."

Helga smiled devilishly. She turned her eyes on Jak. "Do it, Jak. Show them why we are capable."

Jak sighed. "Fine, I was running away from you, but it seems that I am now tied on you people."

A marble-sized ball drop on Jak's belt. The ceiling of the chamber broke as a figure dropped down. The lights changed into red as an alarm went off. The air became frozen as Yuki whips her chainsword to the direction where Jak was.

The whip-like chainsword was deflected so easily. A mechanical hum of servos and gears made rounds. What appeared behind the smoke was the red glows of the Ghost Suit that had made its appearance on the field. Yuki could not forget the figure. On her eyes reflected a metallic head with only eyes. A mechanical suit that fitted was weaved with nanoweaved microfibers that made for an extraordinary padding alongside a graphene outer layer.

Behind the suit was a cutting-blade vibrant with an ether glow. Yuki readied her chainsword in front of her as she stares menacingly at Jak.

"What is this?" Wisk asked calmly.

"You wanted us to show, so here it is," Helga said. Her figure flickering when met with the smoke. She too looked like a ghost that was haunting mortals. "You didn't want to believe. So here we are. I present you our Ghost. Armed with an ether-forge blade meant to give our Ghosts a blade that can cut through the layers of etherian skin. The same skin that you people have. Do not worry, we are simply imitating what you people can do and replicating it into a blade. It is certainly in a prototype stage, but I believe that there will be a day that we can fire bullets with it. Ether-coated bullets that can pierce the skin. How lovely would that be?"

Wisk showed a change of his emotion. A provocation to someone who was in the fifth layer of ether. It was wounding to the pride. But he held his fists back at a thought of something. Jak knew what it was. There was no person above and below Aured who didn't know of the suit and the one inside it.

Wisk sat and interlaced his fingers. He closed his eyes for a moment and opened it. He traveled his gaze on Yuki, Jak, and finally to Helga's projection.

"I understand. But will we have access to these weapons you have?"

"Only your lieutenants and the men you choose to bestow it. You can recharge the power sources with your own ether. Any attempts of replicating it will result to a discharge. Well, you could always try to steal one from Jak. That is if you could do it."

"Tell Dagon that I'll be waiting for him, Helga."

"I understand. May I have a moment of his time?" she pointed at Jak. Wisk waved his hand. Yuki crossed her arms and leaned backward. Her glare was oppressive. Jak picked up the earpiece inside the socket of the bracer and inserted it into his ear.

"You have a knack for appearing in the right time. I understand that you want freedom, Jak. I forgive you for losing contact, and at the same time you prove how you can be card. The Boss will make sure that you'll be free, but remember, that you are part of Haven and Sanctum. You belong to us. It is part of you. Then again, when we have something as loose as you, it's hard to decide whether we want you dead or alive. Assist the Estrella, the Aured Government is looking for you and want you in the open. Eliminate the Skinners and make sure that the Estrella is in control. Do you understand this?"

"I do, even without Haven. I'd rid of them."

Helga's video feed shook. "Anger. That's rare coming from you, Jak. Ah, I wonder, what the Skinners did that made you so angered?"

Her smile faded as she said that.
