Chapter 3 - A Dry Sea

The following morning the Theersa prepared to leave the citadel for Humjari territory. Merchant caravans moved in and out of the city like a swarm. Argent felt in his fur the soft breeze of the desert and the warm morning light in the citadel, he went to the warehouse that had served as a lodging for him and his friend for a long time. Inside the place he found Nim, who smiled at him. "Well, we have important things to do, wear your armor." "Good idea, let's go for supplies." in the market they find a hovercraft seller. Small vehicles, with little carrying capacity, but enough space for two people and few weapons. It had an oval, boat-like cover with a copper base that reflected the powerful light of the desert. At the top were two chairs, one for the driver and one for the passenger, with a wide field of view. A small cannon on the right side of the ship, above the propellers. Argent saw her for sale suspended in midair, and a small vendor stood in front of her. It was a small creature, with red hair, that perched on its brown skin, from its thick mane you could clearly see ears full of rings and earrings. It was a Ruskimp, big merchants, although a little rough and grumpy. "A true beauty?" Argent's eyes lit up, "How much do you want for her?" said Argent, soon after Nim arrived, and hurried to arrive with Argent. Carrying a bag full of food, which upon seeing the ship dropped. He approached one of the boxes of spare parts that the seller had placed next to him. Suddenly she hit the box leaving several sheckles, and said to the seller "one hundred and fifty sheckles" the seller looked at her mischievously, "three hundred, and we have a deal." Nim smiled and began to haggle with the little vendor. Offers and quantities changed. Nim went to Argentum's bag, took out one of the weapons they found in the palace and put it on the table "Two hundred and twenty-one crossbow" the vendor looked at the weapon with whim and finally gave in. "Make it two hundred and twenty-one crossbow." Nim gave him the money and picked up the food, and with a smile he got into the vehicle. Argent looked at her with displeasure "Wasn't that the broken crossbow?" the ruby-eyed theersa replied "he doesn't have to know that." Argent laughed out loud, and sat down in the driver's seat.

He pressed the power button and a mast rose from the deck, then dropped a large red candle that shone with the sun. From the roof, two metal railings rose to serve as walls. The thrusters began to glow with a blue glow. He activated himself by raising a lever that revealed a trigger. A protective shield served as a roof, activating when the rails were raised. Nim sat in the passenger seat, leaving the food and weapons in a small compartment. The chair spun, giving Nim the trigger of the cannon. And with that the Cats departed for him immeasurable dry sea.

Leaving the citadel behind, and entering the dangerous desert sands. They made their way to Humjari territory. Both cats took off their armor, it would be a long journey. And so it was, they chatted for hours, as night fell. In the dark and icy night desert, Argent asked Nim what had happened to the other Theersa. She sadly told him "Ignis was enraged to see that you had been captured, and formed a resistance, we went to the forests of Sildim, southwest of Ysrumdel, there Ignis planted an offensive in a Nemel camp, so we ended several of them in a few days, but Igis was wounded in battle, and Krabat led the last attack on Humjari territory. Krabat is strong but did not have Ignis' cunning, we took over the sector, but Krabat was confident, the Nemek attacked with tanks and explosives, we fell quickly, Ignis told me to escape and look for you, I hoped you would live. So it was. I have no idea what happened to them. " Nim almost burst into tears over that story. Argent stopped the ship, sat next to her on the deck and hugged her, optimistically told her "it is not your fault, we are going to rescue them". Argentum said it with a smile on his face, although to himself, despair washed over him. "It's late, we should rest" Argent ended. He lay down on the deck next to Nim and closed his eyes. That night was hell. Nightmares replaced his dreams.

The next day, they started the engine and continued on their way. From afar they sighted a fire, a flame that stood high in the sand. Argent accelerated towards the bonfire, upon arrival, the place was almost ruined. People ran everywhere. They were humble humjari, tall, humanoid-shaped creatures with pointed ears, grass-green skin, and snow-colored hair. Women with children escaped from bayonets and Nemek swords. The two Theersa got out of the vehicle, drawing their blades. Argent lunged with his sword towards the enemy troops, breaking the musket formation. While Nim silently murdered the soldiers from behind. Argent approached one of the citizens, who had his daughter in his arms. "Hey," the humjari pressed his daughter against his shoulder and pointed a pistol at Argent's head. Lowering the sword the cat said to him "I am not going to hurt you, I am coming to help you, but I need you to listen to me" the humjari lowered the pistol and replied "Get everyone out of here please." Argent said to him "Get all your people out of the village, I distract the attackers" the humjari looked at him with fear, but had no choice but to obey, "Run!" he yelled, quickly all the inhabitants followed him. The Nemek troops tried to chase them. But they were interrupted by Argentum's sword. Who began to deliver thrusts to his enemies until they were pushed back.

But the victory did not last long, an armed tank began to follow Argent, and began to shoot. The cat had no choice but to run and cover himself among the ruins of the houses. The powerful missiles finished destroying the place. And Argent ran out of places to hide. Until a shout from Nm rumbled "Duck!" Argent obeyed and a beam of light cut through the air, making contact with the tank. Making it explode. Argent looked relieved at his ship, where Nim had used the cannon. "More are coming, let's go." Argent listened to her friend and mounted the hovercraft. As they drove away, they saw several Nemek light ships approaching behind them. The dust left by his engine was a trail to follow. Noon came, and they were still fighting. Now in a chase in the desert. Now it was Nim's turn to fight. She began loading the artillery cannon from her ship, but seeing how late it was, she dropped to the ground and grabbed her sniper. He pointed towards the smallest ship, it had the shape of a motorcycle, Nim when she saw it he took a  deep breath, and fired her rifle. The plasma bullet flew through the sky and hit the helmet of the officer who commanded the mission. Three light ships and seven heavy ships remained. One by one, one shot ended the life of the driver, the plasma shots destroyed the light cavalry of the combat squadron. Her weapon put bullets in the armor of the heavy vehicles, but they always bounced. He realized that if he wanted to get rid of those ships, he had to jump directly into them. He improvised a rope with an extra seat belt on the hovercraft parts. "Argent I need your gun" Nim exclaimed. "It's in the bag ... what are you doing?" Argent saw Nim tied from the waist to the mast, pistol in hand. "No wait!" Argentum shouted when he saw her jump.

Nim was swinging over the air, falling on the roof of one of the ships, entered through an open window. And in the blink of an eye, the pilot, the mechanic, and the four soldiers who accompanied them fell. She quickly got out of the vehicle and lunged for the next one. He ran down the side of the black ship, shooting out the windows. Leaving the ship out of action. She jumped to the next, but this one was ready, the shots flew through the air chasing the crimson-eyed figure who had taken down two ships. And one of the shots hit her arm, from where the blood began to flow. But she was not done. A knife appeared from the ceiling, and from above shots from Argentum's pistol rained down fire on the passengers. Nim swayed to the fourth ship, where a soldier was waiting for her wielding a black scythe. Nim unsheathed her knives, and collided her weapons with her opponent's. After a scratch by Nim at the Nemek's hand. She took the scythe and nailed it to the driver, but the nemek retrieved it instantly. They were fighting on the roof of an uncontrolled vehicle, which was moving erratically. Unexpectedly, Nim jumped over his rival, cutting his back. The enraged Nemek nailed his weapon to the roof of the vehicle again and again trying to find the cat that nimbly dodged the blows. "I would be more concerned about your men than me," said Nim mockingly. The Nemek admired his scythe, filled with the blood of his companions in the cabin, "I killed my companions," he said softly. Taking advantage of this distraction, Nim kicked his opponent, who fell from the vehicle. Seeing that the last three ships were too far away.

She jumped into the hovercraft. She fell faster than expected, and stared in horror at the sand and stones that would surely kill her. Until she felt Argent's hand take her by the arm. Argent pulled her toward him, falling onto the deck of his ship. "Thank you," she gasped. "There's no need" replied Argent as he took control of the hovercraft. Argent took the helm, driving from side to side. "Watch out!" Nim exclaimed as he saw several grenades fall to the sides of the hovercraft, raising a huge cloud of dust. The remaining heavy ships approached. Shooting at Argent's. "Is the cannon ready?" Argent exclaimed to Nim "It's ready, but we are going to have to escape without attacking for a while, it takes a long time to recharge." Nim replied. "Roger that." With that, the cannon shot and destroyed one of the vehicles. The other ships continued the attack, grenades and shots flew through the air. While Argent maneuvered aggressively. Dodging all threats. Until a grenade fell too close to the ship. Making the ship almost fall. The terrain became more rocky, a cause that forced argentum to make evasive maneuvers and avoid the stones.

Dodging the obstacles, he heard Nim's cannon roar and find another ship. It was not long before among the dust, the last ship became visible, and at that moment he spotted a small mechanism on the side of the ship, it was the magnetic slider, which kept the ship floating. "Nim, shoot the gear on the side of the ship, that's what keeps it in the air, shoot it," Argent said to his partner. "Understood," Nim replied. Who lay down in the cabin. She found the mechanism in the crosshairs and shot it, but Argent made a move and caused the shot to miss the target. Nim reloaded her weapon and fired again, this time hitting the target. The ship fell to the ground. And it exploded in the process. Nim exclaimed a cry of celebration. Argent stopped, and laughed. "It is over," Nim nodded. "Let me bandage that wound," said Argent upon seeing Nim's arm. When they finished bandaging Nim's arm, they realized two important things, the first: it was beginning to get dark. And the second: They had no idea where they were.

They spent a while trying to orient themselves with the navigation system of their ship, but it was damaged by the grenade that hit them. In the end they decided to take a break and eat something. "Enough adventure for a day," said Nim yawning. Argent gave a last laugh before falling asleep.

In the morning, Argent woke up seeing a beautiful desert, but did not have time to see the landscape, he had to fix the navigation system. It was dawn, the sun had not yet given off its burning brilliance. For this reason Argent took the time to fix the ship, the system turned out to be very damaged. He took the box of spare parts. And with it he began to repair the vehicle. Argent was not very good with engines. But he managed to get the system to work. Returning to the deck, he realized that Nim was awake. She was laughing out loud at how dirty Argent was. "Your help would have been useful," said Argent irritably. Argent took the helm again and put it on autopilot. The ship was heading for green, wooded terrain. They were finally going to leave the desert.
