The next day I catch her next to me again. The seating arrangements were not set in place so there was no assigned seating. That could only mean she chose this place to sit. She is reading, as per the usual I'm assuming. She takes out her bookworm and puts her finger behind the next page so as to quickly flip it. As she flips the page, I start to try for her attention.
"Hey, Winter! Same book?" She nods, not even glancing over at me. "What's is about?" Winter ignores me as she glances over towards the next page. She finishes the page and places her bookworm in between the next two pages and closes her book. Looking at me, she smiles.
"Hello, Red! How are you?" I greet her once again and tell her I'm doing okay, asking her the same question. "I'm alright, I guess. "
"You guess?" Winter nods. "Did something happen?" She looked terrified when I asked.
"N-no! Nothing at all!" Her voice was shaky. Something must have happened to get her to look and speak this way. "It's nothing you should worry about, anyways. I'll handle it on my own. " She gave a false smile and continued reading. Something was definitely up. I can't let Winter continue with whatever is scaring her.
