I turn to see a young girl with
hair that just passes the length of her shoulders. I smile and wave to her, receiving a wave from her using both hands. She holds fluffy worm bookmark. Bookwork, heh. She looks back down at her book and resumes reading.
"What are you reading?" I ask as I glance over to the pages of her book. She looks at me and smiles, lifting the book while keeping her finger in between the pages to mark her place.
"Supernova! It's a wonderful book, and I really do like it!" She continues to smile and sets down her book. Before she starts reading again, I couldnt in use to take advantage of the fact I have her attention.
"Hey, what's your name?" She cocks her head in confusion, as if not knowing her own name.
"Oh! My name? It's Winter!" She bounces up as she states her name. "You remind me of someone...." She puts her knuckle against her lips as her brows stitch together. Squinting her eyes, she stares at me for a moment.
"Who do I remind you of?" I ask finally. She jolts out of her trance and replies.
"An old friend of mine named Red. Red and I were such close friends! Well, until.... " She stops herself before she says more. Not daring to ask her about what happened, I let her continue reading her book. As she flips a page, she says something else. "I hope we become great friends, too!" She looks at me and smiles.
"Me too, you seem like a lovely girl, Winter!" She smiles even wider and continues reading.
