Chapter 32 - Texas

NINE PM

Ariel is finally back, and Blake and Ava are sound asleep. She puts her keys on the kitchen counter and sits on the bar stool. She takes out her phone, looking at all her missing notifications.

"David, Davis, are you ready?"

"Yes Tyler. We won't let you down."

David and Davis go around to the back of the house, trudging through the sand. They unlock the back door, entering the family room. To the left are three rooms. Two of the rooms are locked. They leave the hallway and in the opening, to the right is the kitchen. They see a woman by the breakfast bar, so they back up a little. To the left is a dining table. Ariel knows they are there, but she pretends to ignore them. She shoots a quick message to Eric saying, "Leave with the children through the back door." She picked up a cell phone while she was out. Being underwater, she never thought she would need one. But now, she has a loving boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend. She wants to start off slow. She had married him before, but of course you know how that went.. Anyways, Eric responded "πŸ₯΄πŸ€«πŸ˜†πŸ˜šβ€οΈπŸ€πŸ˜§πŸ˜£πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜ŠπŸ€”." What the frock Eric?? Ariel shook her head and went in front of the intruders.

"STEP BACK! WE HAVE GUN," Davis yells. "Oh shut up Davis, you know it's a phony. I have the real gun. You're too immature." "Hey David that's not nice!" "Oh shut UP you knucklehead." "No YOU you smart head." "Thanks." "NO YOU'RE WELCOME!!" "What?" As they argue, everyone sneaks out instead of Ariel. Even the pup had snuck out. She still stands in front of them. Her stomach starts to gather a pit, and her face looks murderous.

"Don't you dare harm my children. I will bomb this place with you guys in it." "YOU HAVE NO GUTS," Davis yells in her face. Ariel takes out a button, and hovers her finger over it. "Better run.." "WE CAN'T BE FOOLED THAT EASY," David says with a shaky voice. Ariel backs up to the front door, closes it, and presses the button. She had always wanted to use it, but it doesn't feel the same underwater than on land. She runs to the car, and steps in the passenger seat.

"Take off."

TEN THIRTY PM

They are still driving, and everyone is silent. Blake and Ava blame themselves, while Ariel blames herself for being too reckless on where they were staying. 'Foolish of me to think that we would have a day- a moment- of peace. We are mystics, we bring trouble because of our past. "It was no ones fault," Eric says, "we just have to be more careful." Everyone nods while Eric focuses on the road again. The atmosphere loosened, and the car fills with sounds of The Simpsons, Season 31.

There's a made-up saying that says, "No one knows where we are going besides the driver," but not even Eric knew where to go. He knew it had to be far away from Mungju and Shang Hei. On Maps, if they just kept driving, they would approach a place called Texas. 'Guess we are hanging with the cowboys, eh?' But what Eric didn't know was that more than cowboys were waiting for their arrival.

FOUR AM

"Welcome to Texas," Eric says proudly. "Why Texas, dad?" "Well it's the farthest." "Isn't, like, France the farthest? Let's go there." "We can't just LEAVE the USA. And remember, we can't ride anywhere near the sky." "Right.. what about boat? That's your forte right?" "I'm sorry if you don't want to be here sweetie, but have you considered I may actually LIKE Texas." "No not really." Eric rolls his eyes and continues to drive. They still have five hours until they reach Dallas, so Ariel is back to sleep. Eric takes his chance and says, "I saw you guys the other day. I know you know Ava." "How Eric??" Blake asks with a squeak in his voice. "You weren't exactly being secretive. And you were right by the window lad." Blake slaps his face and Ava blushes uncontrollably. 'This is so embarrassing, might as well tell Mom.' "Sorry Blake.. You told me to keep it a secret or we all are in danger." "No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have put all that pressure on you." "Since when do you apologize? You seem like the 'oH iM tOo cOol' type to me." "Oh shut up donkey face." "Butt licker!" "Face smeller!!" "Table looker!" "What?" Blake laughs at her, "who hasn't looked at a table you moron!" Ava rolls her eyes, lying on her side against the seat.

NINE AM, ARRIVAL

They arrive to Morningside Ave, Dallas. They enter the two story house that belonged to Eric's Muggle Uncle Dave. Eric stays back to park the car in the two car garage, while the rest go inside, Ava holding the puppy.

To the left is an office, and in front is a staircase. They walk a few more steps, and it opens up to a living room on the left and a dining room on the right. They both include chandeliers. In the middle still lies the stairs. The living room opens to the kitchen and the back door. They go up the stairs, and to the right is the main bedroom. It includes a bathroom with a shower and jet tub. Eric claimed it for him and Ariel. 'SHOOT,' Ava says in her head. Beside the main bedroom was a hallway that lead to a bedroom. The bedroom included a bathroom with just a tub, which Blake gladly took. Ava sadly leaves the hallway and goes straight ahead, which leads to a gigantic second master.

Ava gloats in Blake's face and plumps on her soft pillows. "My uncle must've been rich," she mutters. She unpacks slowly, watching the stars out the window. Her eyes wander above her bed, which has a latch. She steps on her bed and pulls the latch, which spits out a ladder. She climbs off her bed and goes up the ladder, turning on a light switch.
