Angel watched Jana go to her parents house seeing her beam with excitement to be back in her home state. Angel felt herself yawn again from exhaustion but knew that she had to take the truck back that afternoon, so sleeping wasn't an option at the moment. A long drive through the night into the next morning as they made it into Kansas, though Angel let out a big yawn from all the driving. Fourteen plus hours is a long drive from one location to the other on complete opposite sides of the country. Jana hadn't slept a wink knowing she is going back to her home state, they decided to move to Kansas because Jana had missed her parent's too much though she talked to them on the weekends, it made her feel better to be close to home and Angel has nobody left but her beautiful girlfriend Jana.
Making their way into Cherokee County that lead them to Roseland, a beautiful countryside with neighbors down each side as you can see rows of hay and trees beyond the wild woods. Jana became so mesmerized by everything, she just couldn't sit still wanting see her parents after so long. Approaching their new house that looked cute as ever for a doll house, it is a two story house with two bedrooms and two bath that they found online for a very reasonable price. It is in need of some painting, landscaping, and a fence for their future dogs that they plan to adopt, and many more plans to make the house look amazing.
Angel parked the truck in their new driveway as Jana jumped out the door and grinned from ear to ear then planted a kiss on Angel's cheek saying,
"I'm going to see my parents as their house is just a few doors down to let them know we have arrived, oh my goodness, this is so exciting!"
Angel let Jana go to her parents as she watched the love of her life beam with excitement to be back in her home state even though Angel is pure exhausted from the trip but she knew the truck had to be returned by that afternoon. Angel found the new keys and unlocked the house as she found herself looking around the new place. My gosh this house is bigger on the inside compared to outside she thought. They will need to get some new furniture as there wasn't any in the house. It's no big deal Angel though. She and Jana have a home that they can grow old in together and possibly having a family Lost in her thoughts she heard Jana calling for her. Angel became very nervous because it is time to meet the in laws of her wonderful girlfriend though they aren't married it might as well happen at this point because meeting any in laws is a harsh reality of marriage down the line. Angel walked back outside seeing Jana still smiling while standing between her parents. Jana felt more in a hurry so she grabbed Angel by the arm and tugged her to them as she made the introductions. Meeting Jana's parents, her mother Mary Johnson and her father Gabriel Johnson although they seemed to be taken aback a little bit to discover that their their daughter is dating a woman. But thankfully they were accepting for the most part.
Angel let out a frustrated sigh in front of Jana's parents not meaning too, but Gabriel saw the struggle on Angel's face, as he asked,
"What's wrong, Angel?"
Angel looked at the truck then back at Gabriel replying,
"I need to have the truck back to U-haul by this afternoon and we still need rest so that way we can unpack everything, I am mentally exhausted from driving I can barely function."
Gabriel patted Angel on the back responding,
"Give me the keys to the truck and I will take care of it for you. Mary, please take these girls back to our house to let them rest. I am going to contact some buddies of mine to get these ladies moved in and settled. See you all within a few hours or so."
Angel handed over the keys to the truck and house as they went back with Mary to their house to rest for a while which in this case Jana managed to stay up more than she should have.
Sleeping for several hours in the upstairs Angel stretched finding herself snuggled against Jana with a smile on her face, she kissed Jana's forehead letting her finally sleep for as long as she needs too. Angel snuck off downstairs to meet Jana's mother Mary who had coffee ready with a smile on her face.
"Good evening, Miss. Knight, did you and Jana have a nice rest?"
Angel found it rather sensitive to be asked that but she decided to respond naturally in a positive matter.
"Yes, I did Mrs. Johnson, we did. Thank you."
Angel went over to the coffee maker making her usual as she heard feet pounding the stairs to see Jana making her way over to Angel with a smile.
"I am so ready to see our new home, I hope everything is all squared away so we can start to unpack and settle in. This is so exciting!"
Angel laughed as she sipped her coffee replying,
"My love, we have plenty of time, relax, and get some tea or coffee. I am sure you would like more time with your parent's while I go pick up some supplies for the house."
Mary perked up with a smile saying,
"You girls won't need to get a thing. Gabe took care of everything from cutting the grass, fencing the yard, garden in the front lot, and beyond. Him and his buddies have been at it all day, their expecting to be done no later than tomorrow since the paint has to dry and they need to clean everything up. You two will be staying here until the house is complete."
Angel and Jana looked at each other stunned but what are they supposed to do in the meantime? They don't have a vehicle so that Jana can show Angel around Kansas. Plus they haven't even figured out all the kinks in their new home either. Being in Kansas is a whole new territory for Angel and the last thing they want to do is feel like a burden to Jana's parents as since they have done so much for them already. However, on the flip side, this would be a good time to test the water and really find out if Jana's parents are really that accepting of her relationship with Angel. If they'll keep accepting. Jana already decided that regardless of what her parents think, she is with Angel all the way.
"When is our house supposed to be completed?" Angel asked.
"According to Gabe, no later than tomorrow afternoon." Mary replied.
Angel let out a sigh and Jana looked like she was going to cry but held it in as she asked her
mom,
"What are we supposed to do in the meantime, sit here and twiddle our fingers?"
Mary pondered a moment then headed upstairs to retrieve something. though both ladies were confused as it is. Mary came back downstairs with handing Angel some keys saying,
"I am sorry but Gabe forgot to mention that he has a truck for you all out front. A brand new one at that, I am surprised we were able to afford it with our own new car but he wanted it to be a welcome home gift."
Angel and Jana smiled as Jana replied,
"Thank you, Mom! What kind of truck did Dad get?"
Mary shrugged her shoulders responding,
"Heck if I know, I am not good with vehicles."
Jana hugged her mom then kissed her cheek as both Jana and Angel headed out the front door in the mid-afternoon sunshine. They looked next to the car seeing a big Dark Blue Chevrolet truck. Turns out it is a 2010 model. It isn't brand new but it is definitely in good shape. It looks new as it is just beautiful Angel looked at Jana saying,
"Where to my love? Mall, Bookstore, Coffee Shop...anything but sticking around here."
Jana thought about it then replied,
"Let's get dressed into some decent clothes and pack for a night away at a hotel since we don't have to be here until tomorrow afternoon. I don't want to stay here any longer than I have too because something tells me that my parents are going to be having a long deep discussion on my choice of a partner."
Angel hugged Jana tightly and kissed her forehead responding,
"I wouldn't worry to much, we will go do something, let's go shower and head out of here. You need more sleep as it is and so do I, we can grab food on our way out."
They walked inside together as they prepared for the night away from everything though Jana let Mary know what was going on, and agreed to terms that it is best because once Gabriel came home there is going to be a big discussion on their daughter that she didn't want Jana to hear about. Jana went over to their house telling her dad what was going on and Angel met Jana at their driveway while their house is still being worked on. Angel definitely couldn't wait to get away from all the noise and enjoy time with her woman.
