"Close your eyes, feel the magic, and I'll decide it's fate, concentration", Raylei couldn't help thinking as he looks straight at the piece of brick placed in front of him, while he gradually formed a magic concentration in his hand, he steeled he resolve and then
"Bam"
Raylei smacks the brick which surprisingly splits into two. However,
Aargh
The pain
"How could those kids shatter em bricks when the pain is this much, I could've sworn they didn't flinch as they ended the life of those pathetic bricks, no I can't be here crying all over". Raylei admonishes himself and goes off playing with his new power smashing things here and there when and idea struck him.
In this world, based on the little knowledge Raylei knew magic wasn't the attribute type, Magic manipulation was done by fusing it into whichever substance one wanted to to control. No one could do things such as create fire out of thin air to throw spells and most fights were done on the control of Earth of Air. When two or more people struggled for control over a substance it all boiled down to the quantity and quality of magic, I mean one wouldn't expect,...
"Its them"
"They look so glorious"...
"What's with all the noise outside", Raylei thinks as he moves over to the window, takes a look to see what was happening.
He saw it in its full form
"It was magic"
"It was beautiful"
"It was the Dikes"
They were escorting some noble kids who no one yet cared what they came over to do at the commoners area. Raylei had his eyes glued to the display through the makeshift window which was just a hole in the wall covered by a bunch of coconut leaves or ...like it was called here,
It was a powerful display of colours like they were trained specifically for this sort of moment, with all sorts of light colour variations in a blend fusing in harmony,
"Yeah, they were definitely trained for this"
But who cares, though beautiful the magic clearly did it's job reinforcing the muddy ground, drying out waters and removing sand in about a metre around them, the kids were enclosed in the middle so no points for guessing that the dirt didn't even get close to them. They walked forward in uniform with a face of utmost concentration, light flowing from their hands as they emitted an aura that forced everyone to go on their kneels viciously affecting him even as he was in the comfort of his home
Though not as comfortable anymore
"They were 25 Dikes in total"
He remained on his kneels as the pressure gradually left and his long lost sense of self returned, he slumped on the chair a gift the previous owner had been sensible enough to accept from
the local carpenter in town and immersed in fantasy
WAIT!!!!!
It's no more fantasy, yes I can, I even have my own land to conduct shady experiments no one would let me do earlier, I would get cash outta taxes, though not in anyway comparable to the families, I would be a local tycoon.
He picked up his own and started to write then stopped and tore the paper into shreds and wrote again in good ol English, he couldn't have anyone snooping around and accidentally swiping his notes, who knows maybe there was some sort of scrying magic, better for them to see incomprehensible English characters than find out about all his plans from some shrine in the middle of nowhere. Raylei was a mechanical engineer before suddenly coming over and didn't know if the numerous formulas he knew worked here, he'd thought about it and decided that the mass were useless, what millimeter calculation when it couldn't even be measured, he would need to forget about a lot and specialize where agriculture seemed a pretty obvious choice the mass of the land would be left useless and most people relocating would only stay at the outskirts where their jobs were easily assesible, he would need to give more reasons for people to move in deeper, providing jobs seemed the pretty obvious choice
"I mean what else would work"
He'd finished making a list of stuff and simple machines to make agriculture easier and turned over to magic and wrote the only thing that his mind thought he could get better with his current knowledge
"Magic control"
There were lots of stuff he'd loved to do such as that bogus display of lights, while moving around he'd even heard people talking about the mysterious head of the royal family who could command fire out of thin air which by the way fit his expectations of magic. It was quite obvious those were leagues above him he'd have to focus on the only beneficial method tried and tested by thousands of animes and transmigration novels. At the same level the one with finesse almost never lose, he had to be save among second levels before he could start aiming higher.
So here he was writing practices he thought could increase his contol
Controlled Magic Addition
Magic Stop
Amd a host of other weird looking names which I will work on after a quick nap
Yeah and some eating
Then reflection.
After tons of procrastination Raylei was finally ready to start with the first subject on the list
"CONTROLLED MAGIC ADDITION"
Usually when someone put magic into a substance like rocks it cannot be controlled, it spreads as some sort of broken circle which was what he noticed during his attempts, he needed to actually control the shaping of the Mana around the host, he'd always wondered why no one things like chairs plain out of the ground and it looks like he found his answer, they just couldn't control it, he also noticed that the earth didn't just increase in height if one controlled it with Mana to rise but instead broke off and came upwards, he expended a great amount of his magic trying to raise it up only to find it going with a thud back into the Earth.
Raylei looked at the rock suspended on air and thought in frustration, "this is harder than I expected, I keep getting that trusted knowing feeling that it can be done now but that never happens, in comparison just plain stopping the mana from spreading took me just a couple of tries to pull off"
Bam
"Phew, I thought I was about to be finished off before anything the land gets settled luckily it was just the rock collapsing due to my concentration loss, that reminds me it's only a couple of days till the Oko comes and I need to get my act ready I should draft a plan for how things would go after a get a bath, the sweat is too much and I've been here for some time"
"And a nap too"
.....
People of this land listen up, we gather here today to do good to one who has done us good, I'm sure you all already know that,.....
"Eyy, days sure pass quickly", Raylei pondered as hopped continuously in an attempt to raise morale for the plans, he spent the past couple of days on a back to back preparation for this and of course magic practice, he even snuck out in the night and made sure the jealous nosy neighbour saw him in other to increase the amount of truth in the story
"I mean it would be a shame if some guy released a fearsome aura forcing me to forget my story and spill the truth that I'm trying to hoodwink them"
Hopefully, this would be a short day
