You got up at the part where Everest turned a meadow into a dynamic wave of yellow flowers, pulling me up with you.
"We going to the girl's room," you told Micheal.
He nodded weakly.
Our intertwined hands slid apart like they were never attached in the first place.
I followed you into a vacant toilet stall and just stood there, waiting for you to explain yourself.
"I know Michael told you everything," you said, tying your organic honey brown hair back.
I was wrong, I realized. You weren't oblivious at all.
"I'll visit," I promised. "No matter what he told me, I'll visit you in the hospital."
"I'm not going," you insisted like you had this all figured out. You withdrew Michael's car keys from the pocket of your jeans. "We are going to run away."
I thought about Micheal and how he held my hand during the movie. I had this stupid idea that I would never see him again if I went with you.
Then I realized that he was allowing your parents to send you away.
I remembered your vanilla yogurt scent and the feelings I was developing for you.
"Okay," I said. "I'll run away with you."
I'd run away with you even if that meant leaving Micheal behind...because I loved you.
And I didn't want this feeling to stop—whatever it was.
