Tai: "Ready... fight!"
Yang launches herself at Topaz, sending a quick but powerful barrage of attacks his way. Topaz does his best to parry every attack sent his way. Seeing an opening in her attack, Topaz sends a quick jab at Yangs side, sending her back a few steps temporarily stunning her. Topaz takes that time to his advantage sending his own barrage of attacks her way. Yang blocks his attacks then sends a right hook while using her semblance Topaz's way. Seeing the red eyes and glowing hair, Topaz rolls backwards to avoid the devastating hit. Seeing the ground where he last stood reduced to a small crater gave Topaz a cold sweat.
Yang: "Come on Topaz, aren't you supposed to be this mighty lion from mythology? Isn't that what you said? Guess you are all talk."
Topaz pictures a mighty lion, strong and proud. As usual he notices his sense of hearing and smell getting better, but he can feel himself becoming more powerful. Opening his mouth to give a battle cry, a powerful roar comes out. Topaz opens his eyes to see a look of shock on everyone's faces, and looking down at his hand, he sees a large paw. Not knowing what he did, he thinks of how he is normally, and can see the change take place on himself. The large paw slowly turning back into its normal shape as his hand.
Everyone: "WHAT WAS THAT!"
Topaz: "I'm not sure actually. I just pictured what a lion would be like, and apparently turned into it. Up until now it's usually just my senses that change, but this time everything did."
Tai: "I guess your semblance has more to it than we initially realized kiddo. Is it with every animal do you suppose, or is it only certain ones?"
Topaz: "I don't know. Guess I will have to do some testing."
Yang: "Try making yourself into a dragon! That would be so cool."
Topaz closes his eyes and thinks of a dragon. Thinking on a large creature that has wings and can breathe fire. After trying for nearly twenty minutes, Topaz can't feel any difference and when he opens his eyes, he can't see any changes in himself.
Topaz: "It didn't work."
Summer: "Maybe it only works for animals that you understand on a deeper level. Like you were able to transform into a lion, and you are a lion faunus. Maybe there is a correlation there."
Summer rushes into the house in a burst of white petals, and returns carrying a small pile of books. Looking through one of the books she stops at a page and hands the book to Topaz. Topaz looks at the page and sees it describing a flamingo. Reading through the description, Topaz begins to imagine himself as a flamingo. Hearing a gasp, Topaz opens his eyes to see him shorter than normal.
Ruby: "Wow! He turned into a flamingo"
Tai: "Well, it looks like you were right Summer. It seems he needs to know a decent summary of the animal to be able to turn into it. But how far does that go? Like can he turn himself into a grimm, or even make himself look human?"
All eyes turn to Topaz, as he is handed two books. One on anatomy, and another on grimm. Topaz takes the anatomy book and reads it for a little while. Closing his eyes, he pictures himself without his faunus features. He can feel everything around him getting quieter, and when he opens his eyes, he can see Summer smiling proudly holding a mirror. Looking into the mirror, he can see himself without the rounded ears on his head. Looking to where his tail should be, he sees nothing. Thinking on how he normally should be, he sees his tail slowly coming back, and notices the world slowly getting louder.
Qrow: "Well I'll be damned, that is a very handy semblance kid. Now for the last test, and probably the most interesting one."
Summer hands Topaz the final book. The one on all things grimm. Topaz takes his time with this one. Reading up on the physiology of a Beowolf was informative for him. Taking his time to make sure he has all the details he will need. He read every little bit of information. Closing his eyes and focusing on the minor details, he can feel himself change. He first notices an increase to his sense of hearing and smell, but then he also notices that he can sense negative emotions in the area. Tai and Summer are worried, and Ruby and Yang are scared. Opening his eyes, he notices that he stands taller than any of the adults, looking down to his hands, he sees black paws with long white claws. Wanting to try his final test in this transformation, he focuses his aura on his right hand. He then scratches said hand with a claw from his other paw, he his normal golden aura make its appearance. Transforming back and turning towards the adults.
Topaz: "So, I can transform into a Beowolf and still have my aura. That's pretty cool."
Tai: "That's... that's astounding. I never thought I'd see the day that I would be happy to see a Beowolf in my backyard."
Qrow: "Kid, if you weren't already planning on becoming a hunter in the future, I would do everything in my power to convince you otherwise. Your semblance on top of your tough skin is very powerful."
Yang and Ruby: "That's so cool Topaz!"
Laughing at the children's antics, Summer, Tai, and Qrow made their way back into the house. Ruby drags both Topaz and Yang back in the house after the adults.
Tai: "Hey Topaz, if you are comfortable with it, Summer and I think you should return to Signal tomorrow with Yang. Tomorrow the classes will start making their weapons, and from what Qrow tells us, you already have some big plans for it."
Topaz: "Sure, I'll go. I can't wait to put my plans into action, and it will be good to get back on track to becoming a huntsman."
Ruby: "Topaz, do you want to play games with me and Yang?"
With a smile, Topaz turned towards Ruby and ruffled her hair.
Topaz: "Bet I can still beat you after all of this time, ha ha"
Ruby: "Grrr, don't mess up my hair. And I've gotten better, I've even beaten mom."
The image of the last time Topaz saw Summer playing games came to mind and Topaz deadpanned. Summer was not good at games, so Ruby beating her wasn't the greatest feat. But, not wanting to hurt the poor girls' feelings, Topaz chose to remain quiet. Following Ruby into the living room Topaz and Ruby pick up their controllers and begin to play. Yang sits behind them and watches, cheering for Ruby and Topaz both. Topaz beats Ruby rather easily and then hands the controller to Yang, taking his little break to comfort the pouting girl. They spend the rest of the day playing games until Tai told them to wash up for dinner. And after dinner the family spent time talking and joking about everything until it was time for bed.
Summer: "Goodnight kids, sleep well."
Tai: "Topaz, you make sure to get plenty of rest. You're going back to Signal tomorrow."
Making his way into his room, Topaz goes over to his desk and opens up his notebook. Opening it up to the page where he has the design for his new ax, he makes sure everything looks perfect, before closing the book and heading to bed.
