The very next morning Topaz wakes up in a way that he is sadly gotten used to over his time living with the Xiao Long/Rose family.
Topaz: "Ruby, how many times do we have to tell you not to tackle us awake."
Ruby: "Sorry Topaz, but I'm just so excited!"
Topaz: "Excited or not, you still need to stop that. I had my alarm set as usual you know."
As soon as the alarm was mentioned, said alarm begins to go off. Topaz grabs his scroll and turns off the alarm. After turning the alarm off, Topaz sees the picture he has sitting on his end table and sighs. On the picture is Topaz, Yang and Ariel holding up their trophy for winning a tournament shortly after making their weapons two years prior. Ruby sees Topaz distracted by something on his end table and looks over his shoulder and sees the picture.
Ruby: "After all this time she is still on your mind. You have to let her go, she left two years ago to go and help her dad in Mistral after he had that accident. Luckily, we start at Beacon today, so that should help distract you."
Topaz looks at his feet with her comment, unable to let go of the feelings he realized he had for his old classmate, too late. Ruby gives Topaz a comforting hug hoping her brother in all but blood will be able to heal his broken heart.
Yang: "Hey Topaz, you up? Oh, guess I'm interrupting something."
Ruby: "No, you aren't interrupting anything sis. Topaz just had it happen again."
Yang: *Sigh* "Topaz, I miss her too. Maybe not as much as you, but like I did, you need to stop moping and get on with your life."
Yang walks over to Ruby and Topaz and punches Topaz on his shoulder once softly, before wrapping him in a hug. Exiting the hug, Yang steps back and walks to the door.
Yang: "Come on you two. Mom and dad have breakfast ready."
Ruby: "I smell pancakes!"
Ruby disappears in a flurry of petals, with Yang following shortly after. Topaz gets up and changes his clothes in preparation for the day. Making his way downstairs, he sees Ruby and Yang going to town on the pancakes sitting there. Tai and Summer are standing at the counter watching the two chuckling at their antics. Seeing Topaz walk down the stairs, the two grab the plate of pancakes they hid from the girls and set it down onto the table. Topaz sat down and began to eat his breakfast. After breakfast finished, Yang and Ruby dragged Topaz outside obviously excited.
Summer: "We are going to miss you guys while you're at Beacon. I'm so proud of all three of you, and can't wait to see the amazing huntresses and huntsman that you will be."
Tai: "Work hard, and don't let anyone push you away from the path you choose in life."
Ruby and Yang: "We will dad. We will be the best huntresses ever!"
After saying goodbye to their parents, the three made their way through town towards the airfield where a bullhead should be waiting to take them to Beacon. Boarding the bullhead, Topaz sat down and waited for them to arrive at Beacon. Ruby and Yang stood in the middle of the bullhead and had their usual hyperactive conversation.
Yang: "I still can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me."
Ruby: "You've said that, more times than I can count sis."
Yang: "Well of course, you got pushed up two years to join Topaz and me."
Ruby: "Yeah... I just hope people don't act like I'm special or anything like that because of it."
Yang: "But you are special. Who else can say they helped stop a robbery and catch the attention of Professor Ozpin?"
Topaz shakes his head at the two girls' conversation, and watches as the final wave of inbound students board the bullhead. Topaz notices a blonde boy hanging around the trash bin and prepares himself for a long and painful ride. Feeling the bullhead take off again, he closes his eyes and hopes the ride won't last long. Topaz hears Ms. Goodwitch give her introduction and can't help but be impressed with how nice of a motivating speech she gave.
*BLEAGH*
Yang: "Well I guess this view isn't for everyone."
Ruby: "It was a nice moment while it lasted. I hope we meet better people than vomit boy over there."
Yang: "Hey Topaz, you doing alright?"
Topaz: "Never better, having a better sense of smell does wonders when people begin to lose their lunch. I hope we aren't on here too much longer."
Ruby: "Yang you have puke of your shoes, get away from me."
Yang: "Gross, gross, gross, gross."
Topaz chuckles at the last of their conversation, and then feels the bullhead begin it's decent. Feeling the bullhead land, Topaz gets to his feet and makes his way over to Yang and Ruby. Exiting the bullhead, Topaz does his best to ignore the blonde boy losing his lunch right next to the exit of the bullhead. Moving further into campus Topaz and Yang chuckle at Ruby going full weapons nut with all the new weapons.
Ruby: "Look, that kid has a collapsible staff, ooooh and she's got a fire sword!"
Yang: "Easy there little sister, they are just weapons."
Topaz: "I will agree that you need to calm down Ruby, but Yang, they aren't just weapons. A huntsman's or huntresses' weapon is like another arm for them, it's a piece of them. Take Ember Celica for instance, you probably feel more comfortable with it around your wrists than anything else."
Yang: "Ok, I give, you are right."
A group of people they recognize from Signal walk up and start talking with Yang, before pulling her towards Beacon's main hall.
Yang: "Well, looks like my friends are here, you two have fun and I'll see you later."
Ruby: "Wait! What are we supposed to do, do we go to our dorms? Do we have dorms? Ugh."
Topaz can only watch as Ruby flops onto her back, right into someone's luggage.
????: "What are you doing you dolt!"
Ruby: "I'm sorry, it was an accident."
????" Sorry? Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?"
Topaz: "Listen princess, Ruby here didn't mean to fall into your luggage. She got a little overwhelmed with everything and fell, it happens."
A girl with black hair, wearing a black and white outfit walks towards the group of three. Topaz sees the black bow on her head, and notices the feline scent she gives off, and wonders if she is a faunus herself.
????: "It's heiress actually. Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust company."
Topaz: "Wait, Schnee?!"
Ruby: "Topaz, you need to calm down."
Weiss: "Yes Schnee, do you have a problem with it?"
Topaz: "Why as a matter of fact I-"
Before Topaz could finish his sentence, Ruby covers his mouth and turns towards Weiss.
Ruby: "Sorry about him, he had a pretty bad encounter with your father a few years ago Weiss. Please don't think bad of him for his attitude."
Weiss: "What could my father possibly want with a filthy faunus like him."
Topaz and the mysterious girl in black both twitch in anger at her comment. But before anything could be said or done, Weiss turns and walks away with her butlers carrying her luggage. Ruby tries chasing after her to try and defuse the situation leaving Topaz and the mystery girl alone. Topaz turns towards the girl and reaches out his hand.
Topaz: "Pleased to meet you, my name is Topaz. I hope I'm not pushing too far by asking this, but you're a faunus too, aren't you?"
????: "My name is Blake. What makes you think I'm a faunus?"
Topaz: "Well for starters, you reacted when Weiss called me a filthy faunus. Granted, you could just be a firm believer that faunus are people too, and be a human. But you also have a feline scent, and are wearing a ribbon, which conveniently enough, would cover any extra appendages you may have."
Blake: "That is very astute of you. *Sigh* Yes, I am a faunus like you. I'm trying to hide it because I'm sure you know more than anyone just how humans get when it comes to faunus."
Topaz: "Yeah, I know how they get. Trust me when I say I have seen the worst of what humans can do to us."
Blake: "You and me both. We should probably get to the auditorium for all of the introductions. Come on, it's this way."
