Village Head Stan: "Three cheers for the huntsmen who helped free us from that horrid grimm!"
Villagers: "Hip Hip Hooray!"
Qrow and Topaz were quickly welcomed back into the village as heroes. As they were being led by the guards, Qrow turns towards Topaz.
Qrow: "Don't let this get to your head kid. This is not a normal occurrence. Generally, you are paid for a job well done and sent on your way. Hell, sometimes they try sending you away without even paying."
After a long night of celebrating, Topaz leads a heavily drunk Qrow to the room the village head allowed them for the night. Getting to the room, Topaz throws Qrow to the bed, then turns to clean up in the bathroom. When finished, he makes his way to his bed and sleeps the rest of the night away. Waking up the next morning, Topaz sees that Qrow is no longer in the room. Getting up, Topaz then prepares himself for the day. Once finished, he leaves the room and makes his way to the dining area, where he finds Qrow, coffee in hand flirting with the woman cleaning the tables.
Topaz: "Hey old man, are you bothering that poor woman?"
Qrow: "You listen here kid, I am still young, and I have the inappropriate stories to prove it."
The woman gives the two of them a look, shakes her head, and then walks away. Qrow gives Topaz a dirty look, and mutters something about him not being old. Topaz laughs and pats his shoulder.
Qrow: "Alright kid, we will be leaving after we pick up some needed supplies. So, don't wander off too far."
About an hour later, Qrow and Topaz make their way to the gate with the village head. The gate opens upon the village head's request. The village head takes a step in front of the two, and then turns to face them.
Village Head Stan: "Thank you both again for helping my village and its people. If there's anything we can ever do to repay you, please feel free to let us know. And please know that you will always be welcome here should you need a place to stay."
Qrow: "Don't worry about it. We were just doing our jobs as Huntsmen."
Village Head Stan: "May you both live a long and prosperous life."
Leaving the village, Qrow and Topaz begin to move at a moderate pace, hoping to make as much ground as possible as soon as they possibly can. The two encounter a few grimm here and there, and Qrow lets Topaz handle them by himself to put what he has learned to the test.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been nearly a week since they left the village, and Qrow can't help but admire just how quickly Topaz manages to catch onto anything and everything once he puts his mind to it. Qrow watches Topaz make very quick work of the two Ursa before returning to his side.
Qrow: "Good work kid, now let's keep moving."
Continuing on, Qrow and Topaz find themselves in a small port town, where Qrow says they will catch a boat to the small island of Patch. They walk into town, and slowly make their way to the docks. Qrow walks up to a gentleman standing next to a small fishing boat smiling brightly.
Qrow: "Jimmy! Long time no see my friend, how's the wife and kids?"
Jimmy: "Qrow? Is that really you? By the brothers, it's been so long. Emily is doing well, and so are the twins. They turned four last month."
Qrow: "Wait, they're four now? Gods it has been a long time."
Jimmy: "Qrow, as good as it is to see you, I know that this isn't merely a social call. So, what do you need?"
Qrow: *sigh* "I could use a ride over to Patch for me and the kid"
Jimmy looks over Qrow's shoulder and sees Topaz standing there.
Jimmy: "Qrow, I know you can go pretty hard with the alcohol, but I know that even you are not dumb enough to knock up a woman while inebriated."
Qrow: "He isn't mine. Tai and Summer have been taking care of him for a while now, he was kidnapped quite a while ago and I was lucky enough to run into him after finishing my last mission."
Jimmy: "Good, because I know or a fact that you would make a terrible father. I'd be glad to take the two of you to Patch. Just let me tell my wife what I'm doing."
Topaz watches as the man called Jimmy runs into the small cottage further up the doc, before returning shortly after. He hops onto the small fishing boat and motions for Qrow and Topaz to follow. Once boarded, Jimmy sets off for the island of Patch. A few hours into the trip, Topaz jumps to his feet eyes narrowed. Qrow stands up and draws his blade.
Jimmy: "Qrow, what's going on?"
Qrow: "Jimmy, I am going to need you to get inside and keep your head down. The kid's senses are the best I've ever seen in all my years as a huntsman."
Qrow makes his way over to Topaz and sees him staring out over the water.
Qrow: "What is it?"
Topaz: "I can't tell for sure. Only that its small and quick. It'll be here in a few seconds, get ready."
As soon as Topaz finished with his sentence, a small black and white plated creature shoots out of the water aiming for Topaz. Topaz raises his ax to deflect the oncoming attack. Qrow quickly tackles the small creature and holds it in place for Topaz to get a picture of it using his scroll. With the creature restrained Topaz takes a quick picture and observes it. The creature lies about three feet in length, and one foot in diameter. On its head a white jagged bone extends another two feet. (A/N: Imagine a mini narwhal but with a jagged horn instead of a spiral one)
Topaz: "Qrow what is it?"
Qrow: "I'm not sure kid. We will have to let other huntsman and huntresses know about this. I myself have never seen such a grimm."
With a quick slash, Topaz finishes of the new grimm and while Qrow goes into the ship to get Jimmy. Walking out, Qrow shows Jimmy the image of the strange grimm and asks if he has seen anything like it. Jimmy shakes his head no, but says he has heard stories from other fishermen describing similar creatures attacking quickly to steal fish and then vanishing.
Qrow: "If you hear anything more on it let me know. They aren't very tough, but who knows what kind of havoc they could cause in a large group."
Jimmy: "Will do Qrow."
Jimmy goes back to driving the ship, and within a few hours, land begins to show itself on the horizon. Jimmy steers the ship into an open dock and turns off the ship. He then turns to Qrow, and extends his hand. Qrow takes his hand and gives him a firm handshake.
Jimmy: "It was great to see you again Qrow. I hope you continue to do well for yourself. And Topaz, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I can't wait to see the kind of huntsman you will become."
Qrow: "Yeah Jimmy, it was great to see you again. Have a safe trip home."
Topaz: "It was nice to meet you too Jimmy. Thank you for the ride home."
Qrow and Topaz climb off the ship and turn around to wave goodbye to Jimmy. Jimmy returns the gesture and then begins making his way home. Qrow and Topaz turn around and begin making their way into town. Walking through the town, Topaz can only stare at the familiar landscapes that he hasn't seen in a long time. Making their way out of town and along the familiar path, Topaz can see at long last the familiar wooden cabin. He can't help but remember the first time he had walked up this path, that day he was five and was first introduced to the people he would consider family. And now, he's home.
