Good that's one less loose end.
A gunshot.
No!
She crawled out of the fire into the brittle grass and just collapsed. She looks around for her radio before she got it out and looks at it. It's melted and overheated. She hurled it aside and sighs. She goes to the now extinguished shallow crater where Ghost's charred body was.
"Simon?" She rasps, and she took his sunglasses and Balaclava off of him. Tears stream down her cheeks, and she sees his face burnt. His once bright blue eyes now dull and empty. She cries out and shakes him, "Wake up!"
"We need to retrieve their charred bodies," Price sighs regretfully, "Or their dog-tags."
The chopper lands and Soap steps out with Price. Price prepares himself to see the two burnt corpses of his children as Soap merely prepares to see his Girlfriend and best friend dead. Price's eyes widen when he sees Nat crawling to them.
"Dad.." She rasps.
"Nat.." He runs to her then hugs her tight.
She clings to him tight as she sobs hysterically and he just holds her with tears in his sunken eyes. Soap went to Ghost's decaying corpse and reluctantly took his dog-tags.
Tears formed in his eyes as Soap whispers to Ghost, "I'll care take of her."
Three dreary days until the Funeral
"Today we tragically lost five honorable men. Gary 'Roach' Sanderson was killed by Ultranationalists, including Ozone, Rocket, and Scarecrow. Simon 'Ghost' Price was cruelly murdered by Shepherd."
Two terrible days until the Funeral
Everyone wore black and the base was quiet. Natalie's day was filled with sorrow and constant apologies. Price's day was filled with silence and grief. No one wanted to bother Ghost's grieving sister and father.
One day until the Funeral
"Lass?" Soap asked as Nat laid on her bed.
"What?" She said in a monotone voice.
"You haven't eaten in days." He sighed and knelt beside her bed, "You need to eat."
"I'm fine" She muttered.
The day of the funeral
"Simon Price was one of the most gallant soldiers I have ever worked with." Soap delivered his speech at the funeral as the United Kingdom flag was draped over the coffin. "He was selfless and saved my life."
Natalie and Price were silent, grief having came over them.
"I'm sorry for your loss."
"My personal condolences"
"He was a brave man."
That's all Natalie heard as fellow soldiers tried to console her. Soap noticed how dead her eyes looked, how frail she was.
Soap had to blink the burning tears away as he handed Natalie the dog-tags. Simon's dog-tags. She felt her legs get weak, her face pale. Price put his hand on her shoulder, hugging her tight.
"It was all my fault..." Nat whimpered, tears streaming down her face.
"No it wasn't." Price says, "Shepherd will die for what he did."
The next few days were horrific. Nat had stopped eating and sleeping, getting more frail then she should be. Price was too deep in despair to help his suffering daughter. It rained all those days. Soap had entered their room, finding Natalie on the bathroom floor unconscious.
"Lass?" He ran to her, shaking her. He got closer to her, seeing her face was completely pale. He quickly shakes her. She's unresponsive. He noticed how slow her pulse was. He rushed her to Medbay, some soldiers just watched, not sure what to do.
"She has a high amount of Sominex in her system" The Medic Explains, "She overdosed on sleeping pills."
Soap just nodded, stroking Nat's hair as she slept. "Why Lass?" He said softly.
She woke up hours later, her head throbbing. Price and Soap were standing there.
"I can't lose you too.." Price says holding her smaller head, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
