Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

My boss was an angel and the boss of my boss was the devil Lucifer. I bring my legs up close to my chest and I breathe in heavily. I did believe Alexander but there was something I couldn't wrap my head around. If Lucifer had a kid wouldn't it be all over the web? I sigh heavily and flop down onto my side. I chew on my pointer finger nail as I try to digest what happened. I had to tell Katie. I groan and roll off the couch. I land on the ground with a loud thump. I couldn't tell her. One because Alexander would kill me and two was that she was halfway across the world on a tour. She specifically told me not to bother her because I was her greatest distraction. I hear the door open and I shimmy closer to the couch. "Madison, we have to talk." Zane.

I sit up and get to my feet. "What do you want to talk about?"

Alexander was by the door, closing the curtains. Zane looks down at me, his eyes flashing to a blood red before back to a sky blue. "You finding out about me and my son." He snarls.

I take a step back, bumping into the couch. "I-I promise I can keep a secret. I won't tell anyone."

His eyes narrow. "I've heard that one before."

The room floods with darkness and the only thing I could see was Zane's red eyes. His hands grabbed onto my waist and I felt claws dinging against my skin. I felt something scrap against my head as he brought his face closer to mine. "Let this secret go and I will shred you to pieces." A growl rumbles in his throat.

The lights turn on and Zane Woods was gone. Alexander was still lingering by the door, not knowing what to do. I crumble to the floor, hot tears running down my cheeks. I feel arms wrap tightly around me. I press my head against his chest, using his heartbeat to calm my rapidly beating one.

. . .

"I am sorry about my dad. If I knew he was going to act like that-" Alexander leans back into his chair. "I would have tried to make sure he didn't come over here."

"It's alright." I mutter.

My heart was still beating fast but I felt calm. I get up off the couch and over to my desk. I grab my coffee, happy that it was still hot, and I take a quick sip. "Are you sure you are okay? It looked like you were about to faint." Alexander asks as he walks over to me.

"I'm fine." I tell him, my words came out like venom.

He takes a step back before stepping forward. His hand runs across my cheek and he leans in close. I stand frozen in place. Trying to control the heat that was quickly rushing to my cheeks. His lips press against my forehead and he just stands there. Alexander's hand grabs my waist and I let out a startled scream.

I crash against the desk and Alex stares at me, shocked. His eyes move down to my leg and his hands grab at my clothes. "W-what are you doing?"

He untucked my shirt and then slipped my skirt down but not far enough to expose me. Blood was running down my leg from a mark on my waist. I felt a cold breeze and I watch as Alexander plucks off a feather from his wing. "This is going to get a little weird." He tells me as he looks up at me. "And I am asking you if I can keep going."

There was a look in his eyes I couldn't explain. I breathe in heavily before giving a small nod. Alex reaches past me and unzips my skirt. "Hold our skirt up."

I do and I bite down on my lower lip. I have never been this close to a man before. My body was flushed and hot. Alex moves his hand down into my skirt and I feel the feather running along my leg. His brows were scrunched in tightly and he pressed his forehead against my collarbone. "Wouldn't it be funny if someone walked in on us?" I ask, trying to lighten the mood.

A smile forms on his lips but it was gone in a second. There was a quick, sharp pain and I flinch. "There we go. All better."

Just as he was moving his hand out of my skirt, the door opens. We both jump and Alex's wings quickly vanished. I zip my skirt back up, trapping his hand. He reels back, ripping my skirt in half. "Wh-"

Alexander moves in front of me. "What do you want?"

"I was told to give you this."

I peer past Alexander to see a lady setting a note on my desk. "Thank you Mary. You can leave now."

She dips her head and leaves. The door clicks shut behind her. Alex turns around to look at me. "Stay right here."

He walks into the bathroom and comes back a few minutes later with a pair of pants. "These might be a little big."

He steers me towards the bathroom, holding my skirt up for me. "Sorry about your skirt."

"It's alright. I'm mostly at fault anyway." I tell him as I grab his pants from him.

"It's my fault too." His eyes fall down to the floor. "I shouldn't have told my father."

After I had a good grip on my skirt and his pants, I reached out and brush my fingers along his arm. "We all make mistakes, alright."

I step back and go into the bathroom.

. . .

When I walked out of the bathroom, Alexander was nowhere in sight. I shuffle around the office, looking for something to hold these pants up. I go into the bathroom and rummage around. I find a belt and I quickly loop it. I pull on it until it was snug and I move out of the bathroom and over to his desk. I tape it down and sigh heavily. I go over to the small bed and I curl up on it. I could still feel Alex's hand against my skin. I squeeze my eyes shut and I quickly fall asleep.

. . .

I push the door open with my free hand and I move to set the new coffees on her desk. I close the door and look around the room. Madison was curled up on the bed, her mouth slightly opened. I take the coffees and make my way over to her. I set the coffees on my desk before I go wake her up. She rolls onto her other side, groaning in protest. I sigh and reach down under the bed to grab a blanket. I cover her up and I go over to my desk. Why was my father trying so hard to take all the womens virginities in this building. I sigh heavily before shuffling through the papers on my desk. A knock makes me almost jump out of my chair. "Come in!" I call.

Madison shifts and rolls onto her other side, bumping into the wall. My father strolls in, eyes blazing. "Why did you get rid of my mark?" He demands.

"You have no right to claim her." I snap.

I flick my wings and glare at him. "You can't tell me what to do." A wicked smile spreads across his lips. "Once she becomes your weakness I can show you how I really am. Before I met your mother and trust me. You should hope that day never comes." Zane turns and walks out, slamming the door shut.

. . .

I wake up in a cold sweat. I sit up to find Alexander standing behind his desk, wing tucked close to his body. "Alex, is everything okay?" I ask.

His head snaps in my direction and all the tension in his body falls. "Yeah."

I get up from the bed and shuffle over to him. A small smile forms on his lips as he watches me. "I do know something is bothering you."

"It's better that you do not know." He tells me firmly. "We should get back to work."

I look around the office before back up at him. "But nothing is happening." I point out.

He opens his mouth before he closes it. I raise an eyebrow and cross my arms. "Stop steering away from what's worrying you. Come on. You can tell me."

Alexander turns his back to me. "Please just do as I say."

I bite down on my bottom lip before I nod my head slowly. "Of course sir."

I pick up the loose fabric and head over to my desk. I sit down and press my forehead to the cool glass. I turn my head and look over at Alex. He was turned away from me and looking at his computer. I sit up and dig around for a piece of paper and a sharpie. In big letters I write 'I'm bored'. I look up to find him watching me. I lift up my paper and he smiles. He shuffles around his desk. As he lifts his up I squint my eyes. 'Me too'.

I find another piece of paper and hold it up to him. 'Paper tower again?'

'No'

I hit the sharpie against my forehead before I write down. 'A tour?'

'Fine'

I get up, almost knocking my chair over, and I hurry over to him. I trip over the extra fabric of the pants and land on my face. "Oh my gosh are you alright?"

"I think so." I mutter as I push myself to my feet.

Alexander grabs onto my arms and he looks at him. "I'm fine."

He sighs heavily before saying, "Alright. For that tour you asked for."
