Chapter 102 - Turning Point, Part 3

Ash's pov

It was unforgettable. The day that Keto challenge me for my position. I didn't really want to fight him but Ren… he made me do it. "Sure, you guys can do it."

"But Ren, I don't want to deal with that freaky kid." I don't really like Keto. The way he glares at me makes me really disturbed.

"Oh come on! It's a great opportunity to measure your strengths."

I was confident that I can easily beat him. He was small, thin, and kinda dumb and stupid. Just by the appearance, you can see how obvious who is better than the other. "It's already obvious who will win." I told Ren.

"You never know, Ash. You never know." He chuckled mockingly.

"Are you saying that he can beat me?!"

"I never said that, rather, don't you want him to realize his position in the gang?" He tempted me by actually testing Keto's strength. And so, I ended up facing Keto because Ren successfully provoked me.

Now that I was eye to eye with Keto, he gave me goosebumps when he smirked. His glare was cold and emotionless as ever, and it's freaking creepy. "The fuck's your problem, weirdo?"

"You wear make up, your hair looks stupid, and you… look fucking ugly. Eye sore faggot."

"WHAT!?" This stupid shrimp thinks I'm gay and ugly!? Well, if I'm ugly then he's nothing compared to me! "Insult me all you want, you fucking shrimp. That can't change the fact I'm better than you anyway." I smirked as I saw him flinch when I called him 'shrimp'.

"…right, I instantly hated you because I can see that you were looking down on me." He said.

"I had to look down 'cause you were fucking small!"

"That's it! You're fucking dead!" And he surprised me by attacking first. I was able to stop him from reaching my face in-time, but he only chuckled while holding on my arm tightly. "Too slow."

"Huh—fuck!" It was one of a hell headbutt on the face. I lost balance for a moment until he caught me on the collar.

"Now if you lose, I'm gonna fucking cut that stupid hair of yours."

"Y-You son of a—" I can't remember what happened after that. The next thing I knew is that I woke up at the base with my head feeling light. And after I sat up straight, I got extremely nervous when I touch the top of my head.

"Shit. Shit, no!" I searched for some place where I can see my reflection, and when I saw myself on a puddle I found, my whole body went cold and stiff. "No… no, no. NO!! This can't be!—"

Of all the things he can do, he chose to mess with my hair!

He may think it's funny to mess with other people's stuff, but it's fucking not!

"Shit! That fucking bastard!"

I ended the story there and observed Lyde's reaction. He was completely shocked with his mouth gaping. "What a monster!"

"I know, right?" I chuckled. "I've made quite an effort on my hair, and that bastard had to ruin everything. Girls started to become less interested in me with my current haircut."

"Oh?"

"Though it was nice that I wouldn't have to deal with girls everyday." I sighed.

"But you seem to be upset about it."

"Err, whatever." Lyde will never understand it anyway.

Lynn's pov

I already had a hunch that Ash was sort of a womanizer. He does look good, but I bet he looks better when he had stylish hair. Though that isn't the thing I'm really worried about. Hearing about Ash's past with Keto, it was absolutely despicable of Keto to ruin something precious to Ash.

"…well, it's not just my head he messed with. He also got me demoted and took my position."

"Did you really lose to Keto?" It was a little hard to believe since there's a huge difference between them. Normally, the person who looks bigger is often the stronger one.

"He really is. It's when I learned not to underestimate others just because of how they appear. Keto was a damn monster, but of course, there are way more monstrous people than him."

"If Keto became the first squad leader, then why is he second division leader now? Did he lose his position to Lexi like you lost yours to Keto?" I asked.

"Yeah, that's how it works for our gang. The strongest gets to be on top of the others."

"I see…" then Ren is definitely the monstrous of them all, considering that he's the leader of the gang.

And while Ash kept on talking, his phone rang. We thought it'll be a call from Ren and the others but it was just his dad. "Oh, hey."

[It's already late, Ash! Come home already or I'll lock you out of the house!]

"Woah, I'll be there in a minute dad. Don't rush me." Ash is so brave to stand up to his father like that.

[Tsk, if you're not here by 8:30, then goodluck finding a place to sleep.] The call ended there and Ash just laughed it off.

"Your dad sounds scary." I told him.

"I know. Even if he lock me out of the house, my other dad will open up the door for me."

"That's nice—wait, what?" Did I hear that wrong?

"Yeah, my other dad will open the door for me." He repeated.

"You've got TWO DADS!?" That's crazy!

His laugh got a little shy and awkward. "Err, yeah. That's how it is." Now that I remember it, there was a picture of two guys in a tuxedo hanging on the wall of Ash's house. "My biological dad is a damn faggot." He admitted.

He kind of look hurt and embarassed about it. "Ever since my mom left us, he got married to a guy. Then I figured, the reason why mom left was because he's gay…"

"…"

"So, are you going to start looking down on me now?" He joked.

"No, I… I can understand your situation." Even if he was laughing about it, I remained serious. "It's not funny. It's just how it is."

His forced grin slowly straightened. "…Lyde." Then he smiled once again, but it was a genuine smile this time. "You're a cool dude."

"Hehe, I know." I felt relieved by his reaction.

"I better get going now! See 'ya!" He waved goodbye and ran in a hurry.

I glanced at my watch and sighed. "I should also go now, Lyde's gonna be upset again and gramps might get worried."
