Lynn's pov
The sky is so clear, and the class is going smoothly. So far, everything's a bit peaceful. There hasn't been anything going on at the gang, and I'm glad that I get to relax like this—it could have been like that if Keto just stop pestering me!!
"SHIT." I was hiding behind a tall shelf in the library while Keto's been hunting me down.
"Where are you Lyde? You got some nerve to hide from me, you piece of shit!" He's growling like a mad dog right now.
"Fuck, we need to go somewhere else." Said Nay. He happened to be with me when Keto suddenly appeared, then I dragged him along to help me hide. "I think so too, but…"
"Lyde! Where are you—"
"Young man! Being loud inside the library is prohibited, you are disturbing other students who are studying here!" Thank goodness the librarian got rid of Keto. I was expecting this to happen.
"Nice! We're safe now."
"Well… only when we're inside here. If we go out of the library, then he'll definitely hunt us down again." I've had enough of him ordering me around this past week, so I just had to take a break.
"I see. Let's just stay here until lunch is over." He suggested.
"Tsk. Ace and Ian are so lucky with their peaceful lives." Not that I'm envious, but I do wish I get to hang out with them.
"That's just how it is for people like us…" we sat at an empty corner in the library and continued to talk in whispers.
"People like us? It's like you're saying that we're different from the others here."
"Oh come on. We're both a part of a gang. We get into trouble, we fight, we make our lives not so peaceful. What the heck were you expecting when you joined a gang?" He chuckled.
"That make sense."
"Though you did say you'll quit the Wild Beasts soon."
"Yup! That's the plan… to quit the gang." And I still don't have any idea how I should quit. Not that I want to leave right away. I already set some priorities, and I'll do everything as I planned first, after thinking of another one to get myself out of that troublesome gang.
"So. Uhm… how is it there?"
"How's where what?" That's a pretty confusing question.
"You know. How is it like in the Wild Beast Gang?" Oh.
"The Wild Beasts, huh. Those guys are nothing but a riot! Always so obsessed with fighting and stuff. They even decide things by fighting as well." I sighed, recalling all the time I spent throwing fists and kicks whenever we had a gang fight. It was the perfect way to relieve stress, but I also get hurt in the process.
"Hm, not so different from where I come from."
"Yeah? What gang do you even belong to? And how did you even get yourself into one?"
"It's called the North Hunters. I never really intend to join one. It only turned out like this when an old friend of mine brought me into the gang and even became a… lackey."
"Woah, can you even call that person your friend?"
"…not anymore." So he never wanted to be a part of a gang like me. Poor guy. He suddenly looked depressed about it which made me feel even sorry. So I thought of just changing the topic. "Uhmm… so…" shit, what can we even talk about?
Being delinquents is the only thing we have in common.
—oh wait. There is one thing that I did want to ask him about!
"So, you like my brother Lyde?"
"WHAT'S WITH THAT SUDDEN QUESTION!?" His face turned red, making it even more obvious.
"Yeah, it's very obvious."
"It is?—But it's not what like you think! I like Lyde because he's a great friend."
"Oh really? How do you say so?" It's good to know that Lyde treats his friends right, unlike the way he does to me. Well, we're not close siblings anyway.
Nay's eyes started to twinkle as he spoke about Lyde. "Actually, during middle school, I had a hard time adjusting but he was the first to approach me and became my very first friend. He even helped me when there were mean kids who always bullied me. I almost got beaten to death until he stepped in and saved me!"
"Saved you?"
"Yep. He brought some teachers with him and those bullies got suspended for two whole weeks. I was really thankful that he was there for me. If it weren't for him, I might be dead by now." I thought he was going to say that Lyde beat up the bullies himself, but knowing Lyde, it fits him more to call adults or others for help.
"…then I was really upset when I learned about what happened. I knew Lyde was never fit to fight Jeiro. If only I was strong enough, I could have fought for Lyde and Ian."
"Is that so?… but why did you even made a distance from us before? They were worried about you."
He easily became depressed about it again. "I-I was guilty. Lyde did everything to help Ian, and I… I even suggested to let things remain as it was. I thought the four of us could still hang together even if Ian transfer to another school, but Lyde insisted we help Ian. I'm really ashamed of myself."
"O-Oh…" how depressing. I sighed as I failed to change the mood. Seems like Nay always find a way back from being depressed. "Cheer up. Let's get some drinks." I told him.
He just nodded and went along with me. But after we got out of the library, something horrific was waiting outside for us. "I was right. You were there the whole time, Lyde Pearson."
"KETO!" Why did I forgot about him!?
"Come on, you still have a lot of work to do." Since the boss caught me, I had no choice but to go with him. I looked back at the dumbfounded Nay and smiled through the pain. "Let's get drinks next time."
"Uhhh y-yeah. Keep safe man." Oh I hope I do.
