Chapter 56 - To Stay, Part 3

Cain's pov

Her face touched by the sunset, along with her long hair that was getting carried along with the wind… it was such a lovely sight. But I know best that everything about her is absolutely lovely.

"Then why are you trying to be so distant!?" Even the way she looks right now is lovely, however, I feel like I can't bear to see her looking so sad.

"I'm not trying to be distant! What in the world are you thinking?!" What did I do to upset her this much?! Did I unconsciously ignored her earlier?! Well shit! I was too deep in my thoughts about her. I should've paid more attention to her.

"What the—are you serious right now?!"

"Lynn, calm down—"

"How am I supposed to calm down when I'm about to lose you?!" EHHHHH!?

DROPPING A BOMB ON MY HEART WITHOUT A WARNING! This woman is mad!!

"WHO'S LOSING WHO NOW!?"

"DON'T BE SO LOUD YOU DUMBASS!"

"I WOULDN'T BE LIKE THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SAID THAT!"

"I WOULDN'T BE LIKE THIS EITHER IF YOU WEREN'T ACTING SO WEIRD!!!" ME? ACTING WEIRD!? I WAS THE ONE ACTING WEIRD!? Well maybe I did act weird, but she was the first to act like one. Though our argument is disrupted by a public officer.

"Excuse me, you two are causing public disturbance. Please take your matters somewhere more private." It's quite embarassing that people were watching us causing a scene, and so Lynn dragged me somewhere with less people to continue.

"Alright, let me get this straight. Do you want to get rid of me?" She asked, and it was unbelievable how she got to that kind of conclusion.

"What!? No! I would never want that!" I grabbed her hand and said with all sincerity. "I'm sorry if you felt that way, but I thought you wanted to get rid of me as well because of… what happened earlier."

"You mean with those stupid gangsters?! Who cares about them!"

"You may say that now, but it might happen again the next time we meet again, and again, and again… until you get sick and tired that you don't want to see me anymore! I was worried about that, alright? I never had anyone because of that. So I-I'm the one who's afraid to lose you the most…"

She seemed to pipe down and understood. And I was a little relieved that she did. "I guess we both feel the same way." I heard her soft whisper, causing me to avert my gaze.

"Then what about the gifts? Why were you so upset receiving from me?" She continued.

"That!… I…" damn this is so embarassing. But Lynn's asking for it, so I should answer… still, it's so embarassing! "…I thought you were returning an equivalent amount of all the things I gifted you, so you won't have to think that you owe me anymore… and that you won't have to see me anymore."

I know it's childish to think that way, Lynn won't laught at me, right?

Lynn suddenly turned her back on me, and she was shaking incredibly. "H-Hey! Lynn are you okay?" I thought something bad is happening to her, and it turns out that she was laughing by herself.

Just as I suspected.

"Oh my g… I'm sorry! Sorry, j-just give me a minute!!" I can feel my face getting hot from this extremely embarassing moment. Maybe I'll bury myself six feet underground so I won't have to live like this anymore.

After recovering, she finally gained back the ability to argue with me. "You've got such silly thoughts, but I'll help to make things clear for you!" She gave me a hard slap on the shoulder and smiled reassuringly.

"I don't have the slightest intention of abandoning a good friend like you. In fact, you're the kind of friend I'd like to get to know even more. So, I hope we remain as friends for as long as we can!" F-Friends… she said friends not only twice, but THRICE!!

Although that doesn't mean there's no hope, so I'll just keep on fighting until I can win her heart.

"Yeah, I'd love that."

"Great! Then all is well between us, right?"

"There is this one thing I can also promise you. And you can keep it in mind for your peace of mind."

Lynn got curious and waited for me to continue, "…soon, I'll be quitting the gang, so nothing can get in our way anymore."

"T-That's great! Then that means you won't get involved in pointless violence anymore." It wasn't that pointless, but it's a good thing that Lynn isn't bothered by the fact I'm someone with a bad background. And she even said she wanted to know me better… as a friend. I'll try to work on that later.

"Yeah, that's that. And I'd like to add one more thing for you…" I smiled and held her hand. "…so you better prepare yourself for what's coming to you."
