"You are wearing mix match socks, your left sock is pink stripes while your right socks is red plaid" Laurens crouched behind the host, he was holding up the host's pants and revealing the mix matched socks.
"Correct! Looks like we have a winner folks" the host said as he raised Laurens' hand.
Laurens felt confident and proud, it was the first competetion that he entered in his entire life and he actually won! He left the stage together with a gold medal and a small trophy that said "Brainiac".
"Congrats on the win, Laurens. I knew you could do it! Now, watch as I beat the crap out of all these losers and get that champion trophy" Jace confidently said as he met Laurens in one of the changing rooms.
"Thanks! I'll treat you to some donuts later" Laurens said as he left to sit in the spectator stand.
Jace Lancer, used to be the heir of the Lancer Corporation, one of the most influental businesses in the world. He was taught to be independent from a young age and he was taught martial arts for self-defence. Unfortunately, his teacher died on his first day teaching Jace, and on that very same day, Jace earned the title "Murderer" from his father's mouth. Ever since then, the heir of the Lancer Corporation became his younger brother.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
Laurens sat in silence, stupified by the scene in front of him. The arena was awful and bloody. Jace stood out amongst the sea of limp bodies, his usual squinted eyes were open wider than Laurens had seen. It was a total carnage.
"W-we have a wiinnnerrr!" The host announced victoriously as the lasting silence turned into rampaging cheers.
It was then that Laurens remembered the purpose of the Academy.
"To heal the mad and deranged" this was the answer the Principal told him when he arrived in the school.
Hazard Academy wasn't just a school for the purpose of education, it was also a place for mentally deranged sociopathic children to feel normal and heal as the time goes on. But regardless of the purpose, it was still a place full of mentally deranged people.
Laurens should be scared, he should be. But scarily enough, he wasn't a tad bit fearful. A nervous smile slowly creeped on Laurens' face, it soon turned into a laugh that cheered for his friend along with the thousands of students inside the stadium.
That day, Laurens fully adapted to the life in Hazard.
"Well, so much for being a 'friendly' competetion" Laurens sarcastically commented.
As the cheering died down, Jace was awarded with a medal and trophy. As he was cleaning himself from the blood, Laurens sat in the spectator seat trying to find access to their wifi.
Laurens thought about how Jace easily took down his competetors and was thinking, "He must've been really stressed out", whilst being immersed into hacking the school's wifi.
"Hey, are you deaf, sunshine?" Jace snapped his fingers in front of Laurens, waking him from his trance.
"You are awesome!!" Laurens exclaimed as he held Jace's face.
"Thanks?" Jace answered confused.
"You were incredible out there! My bestfriend is amazing!" Laurens proudly announced.
"Okay, okay. Don't shout, its embarrasing" Jace lightly calmed Laurens down.
"Oh man! You have got to teach me some of those moves-" but before Laurens could finish his sentence, a loud sickeningly sweet voice called for them.
"Hey baby~" said a hot foreign lady as she seductively approached Jace and kissed him on the cheek.
"Vanessa, you were here?!" Jace exclaimed awkwardly in surprised.
Laurens stood there flabbergasted, the woman was beautiful beyond imagination. If she wasn't Jace's acquaintance, then Laurens would've been all over her.
"I wanted to surprise you" she replied.
"Well, I was definitely startled" Jace awkwardly replied, it was apparent that he did not like her company. But who could tell? Jace was a master at poker face.
"Since your match is finished, I'm gonna take you out on a date. The 3rd years are having booths and I saw a really nice one..." she blabbered a lot but Jace was too lazy to listen.
As she talked on and on, Laurens was called to prepare for the next competetion. He signaled Jace to enjoy himself with his aquintance and not to worry about him. Although Laurens was depressed that his bestfriend wasn't there to cheer him on, but Jace already cheered for him on the first competition so he thought it was fair and didn't mind it afterwards.
Just as the competition started, Laurens looked around and couldn't find Jace anywhere, as expected. He shrugged it off and focused on the competetion.
"Alrighty! This is the last competetion for the freshman free-for-all, are you all ready!" The host announce rilling everyone in the crowd as they cheered loudly.
"Contestants, you are all provided with a block of clay and tools in order to make your sculpture within 2 hours. Good luck and may the best win!" the host breifly explained.
As the timer began everyone quickly started their work. Laurens stood in front of the big block of soft clay, in his hand was a thin steel thread. Experience tells him that sculpting aquatic creatures are the road to the top BUT seeing as the other contestants also thought the same. Laurens decided to take another approach.
Laurens decided to sculpt the most annoying thing he could think of.
With great determination and excellent focus, Laurens started cutting the clay with his steel thread and with some other tools. Then he made the base and foundation of his sculpture with a metal pipe and steel wires, and shaped them to his desired position.
Laurens started shaping the clays and applying it onto his foundation, and one by one his statue started to shape into a beautiful figure. As his sculpture became more and more to what he had in mind, the clock only had five more minutes before the timer ends.
And 5 minutes later...
"Times up! Everybody put down your tools and raise you hand in the air like you just don't care. Ahem! Sorry" The host announced.
Laurens looked around and everyone had made either a dolphin or a dying fish, it was confusing. But there were some promising peices, the judges looked around and saw the rows of dying fishes and walking humanoid dolphins. They marked the promising statues with red tape and the dying ones with green tape.
And with every elimination, more and more dying fish gets thrown on the ground and stomped on by their creators. It was blood-bath, just joking.
Before long, it was Laurens' turn and what awaited the judges wasn't a drowning fish or a flying turtle or any humaniod aquatic creature, it was a sculpture of an incubus, a beautiful devil that seduces their prey to do whatever they want. The judges were mystified.
"Judges, meet Vanessa" Laurens introduced.
"Such a beautiful work of art, you're desire has greatly influenced ypur state of mind while making this sculpture" one of the judges spoke as he wiped a single tear from his eye.
"... Yes, my desires" Laurens nervously laughed.
"You won 3rd place" the judge said as he gave Laurens a yellow ribbon that has a 3 printed on it.
"Thank you" 'I never really want this cursed sculpture to win anyway'. Laurens thanked the judge as he thought to himself.
And as the competetion ended, so did the day. Laurens went home happily with a small trophy, a sculpture of Vanessa and a 3rd place ribbon.
