Laurens woke up in a cold sweat, a week has passed since the elf incident and Laurens haven't had a peaceful sleep since, the same goes for Jace.
They've completed the librarian task and couldn't be any happier. They didn't tell anyone about the elves and the secret room. They kept everything a secret, which stressed them out to the max. They value their lives as much as Laurens values his strawberries, which was a lot, and death is not an option until they turn 70 years old and lived their lives to the fullest.
The dou would always arrive at school looking drained and tired, they were similar to zombies. But this particular day was different, they were looking refreshed and confident.
As the teacher entered the classroom, the atmosphere turned eeriely silent.
"As all of you probably know by now, today's lectures are all cancelled because today is the day for the Freshman Free-For-All" the teacher announced.
Jace and Laurens gleamed with anticipation, the freshman free-for-all sounds like a great way to releave their stress. They paid attention to the teacher as he explained the activities for the day.
"The Freshman Free-For-All is a friendly competetion for freshmen students. The competetion has three categories:
Brawl- is a martial arts/fighting competetion for those who loves to fight.
Intellegence- for intellegent people fighting in their own intellectual battles.
Creativity- for those who loves building or art related subjects, this is the competition to challenge your creativity.
It is mandatory for freshmen to participate, you can enter any competetion of your choosing. The event is held in the Hazard academy dome and starts at 10 am today, be sure to pass your application forms before then" the teacher explained before leaving.
The class cluttered excitedly as they started filling in the given application forms.
"What competetion will you be joining, Laurens?" Jace questioned.
"I'll be applying for intellegence and creativity" Laurens replied.
"Oh? Are you sure you can handle applying for two competetions?"
"Since the schedules don't colide, I don't mind, plus, I'm smarter that you think" replied Laurens.
"Whatever you say, Mr. Genuis. I'll be joining the brawl, be sure to cheer for me, kay?" Jace winked as he showed Laurens his paper.
"You can fight?" Laurens shockingly questioned.
"How rude, of course I can. I'm stronger than you think" Jace replied acting offended.
"Touché, be sure not to take too much injuries, Mr. Warrior" Laurens sassily retorted as he stood up to pass his application form while Jace followed suite.
The students who had already passed their application started heading to the Hazard Acdemy dome. The dome was big and can easily fit tens of thousands of people, too big to be exact. There were VIP seats and royal suites for the third years, Laurens stared agawk at all the empty spaces as they entered the dome.
Jace and Laurens sat near the front row, the first competetion was the intellegent category so Laurens was called to prepare in the locker room. It was almost 10am so he had to prepare quickly.
Every contestants were given a pen and paper by the facilitators to ensure nobody was cheating. Not many entered the intellegent category, there were only 8 contestants and they looked a lot like plucked chickens with glasses or plucked chickens with a bowtie. Laurens included.
Just as Laurens finished getting ready, the referee for the competetion called for the contestants to enter the stage. Everybody started picking up the pace and bolting down the corridor to arrive at the stage entrance. It was time to begin the challenge!
As laurens made his was through the stage, he could see the thousands of eyes staring at him. He could feel his palm sweating and his knees weakening but he was ecstatic. Laurens was confident that he could win.
The intellegent category was a buzz quiz type, each contestant must press the button in front of them before answering the question. The first one to press it gets the chance to answer and there are 9 questions ranging from "easy" to "WTF!".
There are 2 questions in each round exept for the last round: easy round scores 2 points, then the semi-hard round are 3 points, hard round scores 4 points, difficult round are 5 points and the WTF round scores 10 points.
Is what the host explained before the challenge started.
"First question, easy mode. Rina's mother had 4 daughters, West, East, North and __. Who is the fourth daughter?" Said the host.
Laurens immediately pushed the button and answered, "Rina".
"Cooorreect! Two points for Laurens"
"Second easy question, A man who was outside in the rain without an umbrella or a hat didn't get a single hair on his head wet. Why?"
Laurens pushed the button again and answered, "because he was bald".
"Correct again! Now moving on to the 3 points questions" the host said as he flipped his card.
As the host said his questions, Laurens answered all of them correctly. The other contestants were getting impatient and some succesfully pressed the button earlier than Laurens but unfortunately their answers were incorrect. And finally it has come to the WTF! Round.
"And finally! It is time for the WTF round, the question is: What is the color of my socks?"
"What the fuck?! What kind of question is that?" everyone of the audience exclaimed.
No contestant could answer that, no wonder it was called WTF round. Nobody can answer such a ridiculous question unless they were bold enough to actually lift the host's pants and see his socks.
"You are wearing mix match socks, your left sock is pink stripes while your right socks is red plaid"
