"Don't move." The voice chilled the blood in my veins and I herd someone cock and charge their gun. Slowly, I turned my head and almost bumped my snout into the barrel of a loaded shotgun, it's holder gazing down at me with menacing eyes. A sinister smile lifted his lips. "Oh Alphas' gonna love this. OVER HERE! I'VE GOT- AAARGH!!!!"
A white blur suddenly jumped from the bushes and crashed into the male, sending him to the ground with his gun flying a few feet away. The white Wolf then plunged his teeth into the male's throat, blood gushing everywhere. I held a gasp, completely terrorized by the scene.
I've never seen anyone get killed before! Sure, I've seen brutal scenes in movies and I was never very comfortable with them in the first place, but seeing a real person being murdered in front of your own eyes was a completely different ball game. Especially when their blood spills onto your fur...
Oh God, I think I'm gonna be sick...
The Wolf's white head then turned to me, a bloody snarl lifting his lips. I flinched, tail between my legs as it glared into my soul, anger flashing into his pupils. My legs trembled as I backed away then instinctively laid onto my back and exposed my neck; submission. An Omega's best strategy against an enemy. By willingly placing myself into a submissive and defenseless position, I'd often gain the enemy's petty and avoid conflict.
Well, most of the time...
As I closed my eyes, waiting for the Wolf's reaction, I herd a familiar voice through the link.
'Ava? Is that you, love?'
I blinked and gazed at the white Wolf, confused. 'Zed??' I rolled onto my belly and recognized his mocking smile as he grinned. My tail wagged, overwhelmed with happiness. 'Thank the Goddess your here! What's going on?? Why are we being attacked!?'
"Over there!" Shots fired and whistled by our ears, following a female's shout while she and her comrades pointed their guns in our direction.
Zed nudged his snout at my shoulder and growled. 'No time to explain! You have to get out of here!' Another shot fired and hit the ground beside my paws, scarring my beating heart out of my chest.
I followed his words and quickly scrambled to my paws. More shouts and bullets came our way, while Zed and I dashed across the garden, leaping over the hedges like hurdles in a race. Every time I gazed over my shoulder, Zed barked at me to keep running and never look back.
I felt my heart race through my chest, following the beat of my thrumming paws against the soft ground. My mind still tried to understand what was happening all the while I focused onto the obstacles ahead of me.
Soon enough, we breached outside of the garden and arrived by a border of the surrounding, gun fire still resonating all around us. Quickly, I dashed into the mess of trees, hoping the vegetation would give us better cover from the gunshots. And I was right.
As soon as Zed and I broke into the tree line, the gunshots ceased, except a few shots directed at someone else in the distance. I skidded to a stop, panting from the exhausting run. Zed arrived by my side soon after, barely winded.
And then, he turned into his human form and I found myself facing a very naked Zed and his... junk. I whimpered at the sight and turned my head away, cheeks blushing beneath my fur.
He whispered, unaware of my uneasiness. "We can't stop here, the rogues will find us. We have to keep moving; the pack set a rendezvous point further up North. Any survivors will join us there." He turned his white head towards me, apparently oblivious and undisturbed of the fact he was butt naked. Luckily for me, he turned back into his wolf form, ending the trauma.
Which honestly made me question why he turned into his human form in the first place? Why didn't he simply speak over the link? Guess I'll have to ask later.
He gestured to continue ahead and I nodded as we broke into a steady canter, Zed in the lead. Even though I was pretty winded, it was some sort of break from earlier's chaos.
It took a couple of hours to reach the designated regrouping point and the sun was already low behind the horizon. When we arrived into the clearing, I was finally able to catch my breath and I laid down to rest, panting from the run. Zed gazed over his shoulder, checking if we were followed than gazed towards me.
'We're safe.' He reassured over the link. I nodded, lowkey hoping he wouldn't turn into his cloth less human form.
Feeling a little uneasy, I gazed at the ground. 'Are there any clothes around here? Anything at all?'
Zed shook his head. 'Not at the moment. This is a simple clearing where the pack would meet if ever there's an attack. We'll just have to wait and-' a set of thrumming footsteps against the ground interrupted our conversation and Zed instantly jumped onto his paws, snarling while he blocked me from view with his body.
I tensed, wide eyed when two wolves, unknown to me, arrived within the clearing. But Zed seemed to tense down.
And then, the two wolves turned into their human forms...
Oh god.
I instantly shoved my snout between my paws, unable to look in their direction.
Zed turned into his human form and greeted the two other Wolves, a large, pale long haired male and a thin, white haired male -at least that's what they seemed to be like first glance since both uncomfortably naked!!!
I herd them shake hands, apparently undisturbed by their nudity.
"Zak, Winston! Glad you could make it.
- Barely did, brother." My ears perked with interest. Brother? Is that what packmate call each other? Brother and sister?
With a shy gaze, I took a peek at the two new arrivals faces and realized the one with short, white hair looked just like Zed. Could they be actual brothers?
I blushed and gazed away when the one I assumed was named Zack gazed at me, a kind smile lifting his lips. He walked closer.
Oh god, why!? Don't Selene Wolves know privacy!? Jesus, it's right there!!!
Zak crouched then turned around and pulled out a long blouse, wrapping it around my shoulders then placed a pair of short jeans on the ground. "Here. It'll help you keep warm." Then he turned to the others and threw them a pair of pants for each which he pulled from a bag I never noticed he was carrying.
At last, the boys dressed up; Winston wore a simple leather jacket and black jeans while Zack and Zed put on some identical jeans, but remained bare chest. Yep, they were definitely brothers, even more, they looked like twins!
But I didn't have time to dwell over the fact as I quickly transformed and put on the shorts and blouse, giving me a pretty good look. With the baggy blouse and shorts, I looked like some sort of photoshoot model. Oh shit... I'm like a model and I'm alone with three, hot guys...
God dammit...
I sat down in the root of a tree, taking in the recent events when Zed engaged into a conversation with Winston, worry lacing his voice.
"Any survivors?"
Winston shook his head. "We don't know. Your the only Wolves we've met until now." Zed nodded.
"Zak, you and I will head back and search for Alpha and any survivors. Winston, stay here and keep an eye on Ava."
As he spoke, I began to feel light headed and dizzy, as a sharp pain suddenly. invaded my left side. I gazed down and gasped when I noticed the pool of crimson staining the pale blouse.
"Z-Zed..." my voice staggered, horrified as reality sunk in.
I was shot.
And as that thought rummaged in my mind, my body leaned onto the side, my vision now a blur as a form leaned by my side and incoherent voices reaching my ear.
