Xue Chang didn't pause for a second as a piercing roar erupted behind him.
Clearly the demonic beast and the woman had both discovered the missing Pseudo Nascent Soul.
But he had no time to worry about this. Although he was able to push the monster back, that was because it underestimated him.
Even though it underestimated him, he could ONLY push it back. The injury it received was probably insignificant to it. After all, Xue Chang was strong but still his limit was the fifth level of Qi refinement. No way could he just beat a level seven Qi refiner out of nowhere.
But this didn't mean he failed to achieve his goal.
Placing the palm of his hand onto his stomach, Xue Chang closed his eyes and felt the orb within his body revolve around slowly.
The pseudo nascent soul had been captured by him.
The spirit seal had remained in his stomach after all this time, and had barely seen any action.
Although it still worked, Xue Chang really had no way of controlling or using it.
But this time was different. He had a goal in mind and thus needed it.
While it could passively continue to absorb souls nearby, this suction was very weak and almost unnoticeable.
But when it was given directions, its strength could multiply and increase by an unbelievable margin. And after remaining in Xue Chang's body for so long, it appears that something had happened to the spirit seal, causing it to undergo a weird change.
It was shockingly easy for him to use the seal now. It had completely submitted to him and listened to any order he gave it.
Yong Heng even confirmed that its connection to its previous master had been severed.
Unfortunately it needed something to properly power it, such as spiritual force.
Of course Xue Chang couldn't provide it with this energy so it became even more useless in his hand. But that issue was solved by Yong Heng.
He wasn't sure how he did it, But Yong Heng had somehow provided it with some energy to function properly.
Then it was just a matter of buying it time for the seal to sneakily capture the Pseudo Nascent Soul.
A key aspect of this plan depended on their opponents though.
If these people had been as sensitive to souls as he was, their whole operation would've failed. Luckily for them it seemed like they were only told of methods to capture souls and not given a method to truly sense or interact with them.
This made them blind compared to him when it came to stealing souls.
Xue Chang felt a little disgusted by what he did though. Even if it was for a good cause, manipulating what was once a human's souls made him feel a little weird.
"But now that I have it, there is no way I'm giving it back. I need to quickly notify the guild of the situation with this tomb."
Xue Chang didn't pause for a second as he shot toward the guild hall.
Kicking the door to the guild open, Xue Chang marched through the bar and toward the stairs leading to the guild master's office.
"Hey hey! You're not allowed up there. Wait a second!"
Some of the guild workers were jolted out of their work. Seeing some random person in bloodied robes charge up the stairs caused them to freeze in shock before finally acting.
Those stairs led to the guild master, and not just anyone could walk up without an appointment.
Just as someone was about to run up and drag the guy back down, someone else grabbed him by his shoulder.
"Hold up, look at that person. Doesn't that mask look familiar?"
One of the office workers took note of the intricate mask Xue Chang wore and felt that it had a very familiar appearance.
The other guy listened to his coworkers words and took another glance of the visitor. And when he did his eyes dilated in shock as he sucked in a breath of cold air, "T-thats Yong Heng!"
Yong Heng!
This name had become increasingly well known recently. This adventurer had started out less than a year ago and had quickly risen through the ranks.
From stopping a beast wave in the making, to discovering a lake of condensed earth fire, and even being the founder of the first tomb that had been causing their city so many problems.
He had gone from a nobody to an extremely well known and respected member of the guild.
This kind of person was not someone any of them could hope to hold back.
Plus the guild master had given them specific instructions to allow him to meet with him at anytime. As such they stopped what they were doing and allowed Xue Chang to continue ahead.
As Xue Chang stepped toward the guild master's office, he could hear voices from the inside crying out.
"You're members injured and disgraced a member of my family! And you think I'll just accept a few gold coins as compensation?! You're mind is becoming muddled old man!"
"I WILL NOT HAVE YOU SPEAK TO ME THIS WAY. We don't have time for this Wang Fan, can't you see something big is happening in this city? This isn't the time to be settling personal grudges."
The latter, whose voice clearly belonged to the guild master, seemed to be conversing with someone named Wang Fan.
It seemed that they were having a heated argument about something. And from the context of the conversation, it seemed that Wang Fan was here to get revenge on an adventurer who had defeated someone in his family.
"Damn you you old bastard. Do you really want to offend my family for some nobody? Don't you understand how detrimental it'll be for your small guild hall if you mess with us?"
"My guild isn't some weak organization Wang Fan. The guild holds as much influence as even the ancient immortal families. If you think an aristocratic family in Water Cloud City can actually threaten us, then you're sorely mistaken..."
The guild master trailed off at the end with an obvious threat. It appeared that whoever Wang Fan was, he was clearly someone who overestimated himself.
Now that Xue Chang thought about it, Wang Fan was a familiar name.
"Hmm? Isn't he someone from the Wang Family?"
With this thought in mind, Xue Chang opened the door swiftly and stepped in without hesitation.
"Who dares interrupt us during our meeting!?"
"Huh? Yong Heng?"
The two voices overlapped with each other with very different reactions.
Wang Fan looked at the guild master's surprised, yet cheerful, expression and figured that this person must have been an important person.
Wang Fan looked at Xue Chang up and down a few times before giving off a snort, "Yong Heng? That's the adventurer that had become quite famous recently. His appearance looks pathetic."
Walking into the room, Xue Chang ignored Wang Fan's gaze as he stepped toward the guild master and reported.
"A tomb has been discovered in the middle of the city!"
Both Wang Fan and the guild master stood up from their seated position as they simultaneously slammed their hands onto the desk in front of them.
"WHAT!"
