Chapter 14 - VI

*RING, RING*

"Hello?"

"Ringo, it's Dale. Where are you?"

"Not in town. What's up?"

"It's just… I don't know if you found out."

"Found out what?"

"Well… ProTech was a sham."

Swindle put the call on speaker, and looked up the news on his cell phone. Yes, apparently its accounting was a bunch of inflated numbers, and all the stock money had disappeared overnight. The police were offering a reward to whoever gave them information to capture the last CEO of the company, and they also attached a spoken portrait of him: he was a man with a black hat, long and dark hair, sunglasses and a prominent mustache

Swindle smirked.

"And what happened with your stocks?" Swindle asked with malice.

"What else?" Fake replied bitterly. "They're worthless now."

"Like casino's chips," Swindle thought.

"A shame," Swindle said with a smirk.

"Yeah," Fake said, "they swindled us."

"Well, Gully sold all her stocks yesterday, so…"

"What?!" Fake yelled so loud Swindle almost burst out laughing. "But you never told me anything about a sale."

"Because I didn't do it. It was her."

"And why did she sold all her stocks if everything seemed so fine?"

"Becaus I told her to."

"Why?"

"Because ProTech was a sham."

"And how did you know?! Why didn't you tell me anything?!"

"Well, I thought you knew this game enough to win, Fake; in the end of the day, you have a PhD in Financial Sciences or something, right?"

"Of course I have that, but how could I…?! Right, right. You were involved in all of this, no?" Fake laughed with malice. "Ok, so this is what we're going to do: you'll give me all the money you took, and I won't tell the police."

"Tell them if you want," Swindle dared him, "but they will also be really to know why you took so many bags full of money that I gave you no questions asked and converted them into ProTech shares in the name of a person who was not even in the country. That's called money laundering, Fake."

"WHAT?! You son of the…! You swindled me!"

"I didn't do anything," Swindle said mockingly. "I only showed you how easy you could win some money by investing in ProTech. But, anyway, bye, Fake."

"Ringo, Ringo, wait, RINGO!" Fake kept yelling, but Swindle then hung up the phone and threw it out of the car he was driving at the time. In front of him was an endless road. He could go where he wanted and do what he wanted. And if he needed money, well, he could ask his recently millionaire mother for some.
