Sally's Pov
I walked out of class the next day to see Amy waiting for me.
"Hey, kiddo ready to go?"
"Yeah. You know you guys don't have to wait for me."
"It's not a big deal Sal. Besides we don't want you to get hurt by Carson."
I smiled a little as we got to my music class, "See you at lunch Am."
"Bye kiddo!"
I walked in and sat next to Jake, "Where were you Princey?"
"I know, I know I'm sorry we ended late then Mrs. Kelly needed to talk to the main actors and by the time I was out Amy had said she was picking you up."
"It's fine Princey I was just messing with you."
"Oh haha very funny."
"It was, I loved seeing the panic on your face along with the guilt."
"Thank you Emo Nightmare you're so kind."
"I know."
My last two classes went by fast and me and Jake walked to the front to meet Maddie and Amy.
"Hey, kiddos!"
"Hello Madre, Specks!"
"Hey Am, M."
"So since no one has work today were going to the park with everyone!"
We got to the park to see Damien, Allie, Emily, Quinn, and Jack talking.
"Hey guys!" Amy yelled, getting their attention.
Allie's Pov
"Hey guys!" I looked over to see Sally, Jake, Maddie, and Amy.
"Hey StormCloud how was school?"
"Fine…"
We started walking to one of the older abandoned playsets.
"So Sal."
"Yeah?"
"Any thunderstorms lately?"
"There was one the day you woke up."
I smiled, "Did you use it?"
She frowned a little, "No Jake was there and then Carson showed up."
"When was the last time you used it?"
"She hasn't used it since he almost killed you," Dee answered when Sally didn't.
"Do they know about it?"
"No...wh-what if they hate me? Think I'm-I'm some freak."
"They won't but if they did me and Jack would beat the living daylights out of them and you could live with us."
"Thanks, Dee…."
"Sally come on!" Jack grabbed her hand and pulled her over to the playset.
I laughed, "They're like little kids again…"
"Yeah...come on I'll push you on the swings."
"Dee…"
"Hmmm?"
"We have company…"
Damien groaned, "Of course we do. Get your phone out maybe we can get this guy thrown in jail."
"Call or tape?"
"Tape but be ready to call, and stay with me, Jack, Jake, or Quinn."
"Why?"
"I don't want to lose you again…"
"I'll be careful and stay with Jack."
"Thank you...we should try to get out of here…"
"Yeah…"
Sally's Pov
"Sal we have to go. Now."
"Allie what's wrong?"
"He who must not be named is here."
I paled as I saw Carson coming this way.
"Jake time to go!" Jack called down the slide.
Jake saw Carson and nodded, "Ok!"
"Let's go."
"O-ok."
I followed the three down the playset and towards the others.
"Ahh!" I was pulled backward by my hood into someone's chest.
"Look what the cat dragged in."
"Let her go Carson!"
"Oh look, Lightning Bug is out of her coma."
"Don't. Call. Me. That."
"What's wrong babe? Didn't you miss me?"
"Nope. Not one bit."
"Let her go!" Jack stepped forward.
"I wouldn't move if I were you."
"Why's that?"
I felt something cold press against my neck as everyone gasped or went wide eyed.
"Ja-Jack...Dee...Al…"
"Shh...don't want my hand to slip do you Emo."
"Car-Carson please d-don't...let m-me go pl-please.."
"Nope I don't think so."
"W-why? Why are y-you doing thi-this?"
He didn't answer right away, "Cause I-I can…."
"I miss the old Carson…."
"Me too…" I barely heard him whisper.
I looked to see Jack let out a sigh of relief and Allie smirk. I was confused until I felt the blade pulled away from my neck. It wasn't by Carson though. As soon as I felt him off me I collapsed to the ground a panic attack settling in.
"Sal, it's Jack. Can I touch you?"
I nodded my head and was pulled into a hug. I cried as Jack held me running his fingers through my hair.
"It's ok Sally I got you, he's gone now."
I heard a rumble of thunder, No. No. No. Not now! Why now?'
"Al-Allie...Da-Damien…" I had a panic look on my face.
They rushed over, "What's wrong StormCloud?"
"I-I can't con-control it!"
"It's ok Sally….they won't be mad or anything."
"You don't know that! What if they hate me!"
"Then you'll live with us. Plain and simple." Jack wiped away the tears that were running down my face, pressing a kiss to my hand.
I looked up and saw a flash of lightning in the distance.
"We should head back. It's not safe to be out during a thunderstorm when lightning is involved."
"Maddie's right kiddos. Why don't we head back and watch some movies?"
I didn't answer, just stared at the sky. I slowly stood up before walking away toward the open field.
"Kiddo?"
"Sally come back, it's not safe out there."
"Let her."
"What? Are you crazy! She could die!"
"She won't."
"How do you know?"
"Just shut up and watch."
"Allie." Damien threatens.
"Sorry, Maddie."
"It's alright."
I walked a little before stopping. I felt the familiar fuzzy tingle work through my body as I do everytime I do this. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, I opened my eyes holding out my hands. A purple spark flew up a few feet before connecting to my other hand. I smiled sitting down in the grass playing with my lightning. I saw Allie, Damien, and Jack sit by me. Not too close to get shocked but close enough to give me some comfort.
"Do the thingy where you make the lightning circle you!" Jack exclaimed a crazy look in his eyes that is normally not there.
"Sure."
I closed my eyes and put my hands on the ground. Opening my eyes four bolts of lightning hit the ground around me.
"Can I touch it?!" Jack stood up and sat next to me after the lightning disappeared.
"Sure, here." A spark danced across my hand.
"Jimmy Crickets…..you can make lightning?!?" Amy squealed bounding over to us.
"Yeah…."
"That's so cool!"
"I must agree with Amy this is extraordinarily fascinating."
"You could be a superhero!"
"No princey."
"Or a crystal gem!"
"A what?"
"Steven Universe hun."
"Ok?"
Maddie sat in front of me with a shine in her eyes.
"How does it work? Were you born with it? Can you use it when a thunderstorm is not present or does there have to be a storm? When did you find out about your ability? Is-"
"Maddie calm down a little." Damien interrupted her rant by pulling her into a hug.
"Right, right, sorry but this is just wow I don't have the vocabulary to describe how I'm feeling right now….may I ask you some questions?"
"One at a time and I may not be able to answer all of them."
"That's alright." She pulled a small notebook and pencil out of her back pocket.
"Do you carry that around with you?"
"Yes, I find it important to have something to record data in at all times."
"Ok...what's the first question?"
"Well...how does it work exactly?"
"Well I feel a fuzzy tingle and I focus on it and then I move my hands while I focus on that energy."
"Ok...were you born with it?"
"I mean I think so...I found out about it when I was….four? I was in my room with Allie and Damien hiding from h-a storm when I made the power go out."
"I see….ok last question for now, does your ability if that's what we're calling it-"
"It is."
"Then does it only work during storms or can you use it on command?"
"I can use it on command but it's more powerful during a storm."
"Thank you Sally."
"No problem teach."
"Kiddo I have a question…"
"What's up?"
"Why did Carson call Allie Lightning Bug and babe?"
"You really want to know?"
"Honestly yeah, we all want to know how you know Carson." Jake sat down with us.
"Well let's start from the beginning then." Allie gestures to Damien to start.
