Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Heartbreaks & Salary

Inside Yuyan's apartment…

"I'm back,"

"Xiaoqi! What's up? I received a call from Mr. Choi, how was your dinner?" she asked teasingly, expecting Xiaoqi to tell some interesting story that happened between them.

"Oh nothing really, it's just he treated me for dinner and told me that I'll be attending a party three day later as his companion…" She said,

It was so boring, not even something amusing from how she said it. It was utterly disappointing to hear for Yuyan. Two persons, man and woman, eating alone for dinner and nothing happened. I mean, come on! There should be something… don't you think?

"That's it?" Yuyan asked, waiting for her to spill the beans.

"Well," Yuyan's ears were wide open as Xiaoqi started to speak, ready to listen to an interesting story. "He also said that he'll pay twice as much if I attend it with him… as his lover…"

Shocked by what Xiaoqi said, she still couldn't believe the last words she said. Attending a party, 'as his lover'… this may be the start of a romantic story. How beautiful it is to hear; it was a melody in her ears.

"You're in luck, my friend," she patted her shoulder as if she'll be doing something more serious or dangerous or whatever it may be.

But for some reason, her friend felt satisfied. She even thought of continuing her dream as a novel writer; she may be able to write a story about her friends love story with her boss. Her imagination flowed with a river of images as she wondered what could happen.

Yes she loves romance, too much that she'll be able to make a hundred of books out of it if she didn't end up broken at that time.

Xiaoqi still remembers it clearly… the memory of the past that should never happen ever again. That day, which she immediately remembered…

"Xiaoqiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Whaaaa~ you're the only one who loves me here. How come you also left me? Now I'm all alone, what am I supposed to do?"

"Yuyan, it's alright… it's not like it's the first time it happened, he's not worth crying, *yawn*"

"Whaaaaaaaa~ I can't believe your mocking me. But… what have I been doing all this time?... What? I've been wasting my time? That's what I've been doing? Xiaoqi! Xiaoqiiiiiii!"

"Sorry, Yuyan. My head is aching right now, I still have classes tomorrow morning, I'll have to sleep now. Take care~"

Exactly how she ended that call. Although she felt a bit guilty ending the call just like that, she didn't have any other choice. It was their exam day the next day but she barely slept the night as they had ended the call half past midnight. Yes, precisely, early morning in their place. As a result, she got scolded by her professors for napping in the middle of class and she had to retake the exams. It was the scariest moment of her life; her dad almost froze her bank account and she almost failed her subjects. She couldn't think well with dark circles bellow her eyes.

Yuyan just broke up with her latest boyfriend, Zhu Tingzhe that time; the scar was still fresh on her heart. She really thought that he was the one as they were dating for three years since high school. Unfortunately, she ended up getting heartbroken after catching her boyfriend cheating at her red-handed and told her it was because she's too annoying; her and her fantasies with romance. Break-ups are the worst for girls, especially Yuyan at that.

Anyway, she was just glad to see her friend back to normal. There's no point of thinking and reminding her about that stupid jerk who left and broke her heart. She has moved on, and he's insignificant to her now. Well, if he dares show up in front of her friend and bother her again, she'll definitely be the one to teach him a lesson.

"I'm glad you're fine now…" she murmured.

"What did you say?"

"Huh? I said, I'm hungry, what's for dinner."

"But didn't you just eat?"

"I meant you must be hungry, I'll cook dinner."

"Well, I ate ramen, but I don't mind eating some more… but I still couldn't believe the two of you were so close,"

"You think too much, he's just my boss…"

And just like that, the day had ended…

The next day had arrived, and the morning meeting had ended. It was almost lunch so she told Mr. Choi she would go to the cafeteria first as she will be eating lunch with her friend for today there. Mr. Choi agreed and said they'll pick her dress after the lunch break so she doesn't need to get back to the office and just wait at the ground floor for him.

She had arrived in the cafeteria a bit earlier, and there were still a few people and no sign of Yuyan. She remembered that time where she waited for her in vain the day of her interview and hoped she wouldn't skip her lunch again today.

Waiting for her friend, murmurs started growing around her.

"Isn't that the woman Mr. Choi was carrying on his arms the other day?"

"Yeah, I think she was that woman…"

"What's her relationship with our CEO?"

And yet, another wave of rumors… I guess rumors just don't stop so easily don't they? She thought.

She had already been there for less than a month, but batches of rumors were spreading hellfire because of her already. Just how famous is she now? If she was such a famous actress, I bet she would already have hundreds of articles posted around the internet being searched all over the world. Thankfully, she wasn't it would be a headache even just by thinking of it.

For some reason, she understood why her father chose to conceal his real identity as one of the richest man in China; publicizing their identities would deprive them off their privacy and they wouldn't have lived a peaceful life until now.

"Xiaoqi!" Yuyan waved from a mile away at her friend who sat there waiting for her and ran towards her. "Sorry to keep you waiting,"

"It's alright, I was just early. What'll you eat for lunch?"

"Mmm, how 'bout we order the specialty of this cafeteria?"

And there they went, buying the bestselling food there…

The rumors only grew which almost enraged Yuyan, but they ignored it as Xiaoqi told her it was alright. After that, they just continued with their talks disregarding what was happening around them until it was time to go back to work.

People just don't stop do they? *sigh* don't they have anything better to do? Thank God, I didn't encounter those three idiots there or I wouldn't have been able to suppress my anger and teach them a lesson. Don't tell me you forgot about them already? You shouldn't… I have yet to give them a beating (because of them I got sick and fainted in the middle of work; it's their fault my salary got deducted!).
