First thing in the morning, a phone notification greeted Xiaoqi. A big congratulations with three exclamation marks can be seen before anything else, it was bold and capitalized just like this: 'CONGRATULATIONS!!!' that's how it says. It couldn't be more obvious as there was no one else to send her such message other than the company she applied to a few days ago, and they wouldn't have sent her that is she didn't get accepted would they?
And there she was, together with Yuyan by her side that looked like she was the one who just got accepted, as she was more joyed than Xiaoqi who thought it was only natural for her to get accepted by such company.
Meanwhile, in front of the HR Department…
"You're Ms. Xue right? Please follow me," a lady said guiding her to their destination which was the marketing department manager.
"This is Ms. Yang Yang, the manager of the marketing department."
"Hello Ms. Yang, I'm Xue Xiaoqi, nice to meet you."
"Alright, then I'll leave you to her." She said walking farther away.
Xiaoqi on the other hand, couldn't help but get a strange feeling about this Ms. Yang who looked at her from head to toe. It looked a bit irritating, but Xiaoqi just swallowed the annoyance she felt and left the murmur on her mind. For a moment their eyes met and Xiaoqi let out an awkward smile; she couldn't help it for it took quite some time for that financial manager to stop staring at her like judging her appearance or something.
"What're you looking at? Follow me."
"Y-yes,"
("Huh? What's wrong with her? I think I was the one supposed to be saying that, why's she turning it on me?")
One must be able to keep hold in their anger even when it's almost impossible and deal with things professionally. One must learn how to respect others, for them to respect you back. Intelligent people ignore insignificant things; paying attention to them may only bring more trouble that what you'll gain.
Xiaoqi took a sigh and followed Ms. Yang who led her to another woman.
"This is Suyin, from now on you'll be under her care. If you ever need anything or want to know about something, don't hesitate to ask her. She's been working here for quite long and have shown good and persistent performances each time…"
"Thank you for those kind words Ms. Yang, but compared to you I am way out of your level. However," the woman turned her head to Xiaoqi, "you can still count on me, I'll do my best to help you though I can't always guarantee."
Her smile was kind but it felt like it was just a mask she was wearing. It felt a bit odd, the way she looked at Xiaoqi the first time, just a few minutes earlier it looked like she was mad for some reason. Xiaoqi could tell for she saw her fist clench tight grabbing her skirt after facing her. Though she turned to being nice and let out that smile, so Xiaoqi turned a blind eye and just thought maybe she had constipation or something. Besides, it's the first time they met, it's impossible that she would get mad for no reason. Moreover, it's not the time to make enemies; it's the first day of work.
"Thank you; I'm Xue Xiaoqi by the way…"
"I'm Cen Suyin, you can just call me Suyin."
"Okay,"
"Your desk is right here, beside mine" Suyin said pointing at the last desk of the second column from the right. "Well, I'll leave you for now as I have something urgent to attend to,"
That said, she then turned her back and walked away.
Xiaoqi put her sling bag beside the table and looked at the monitor in front of her. Unfortunately, she was located in a different department in a different floor from Yuyan so she didn't have anyone else she knows there.
Just as she was about to use the computer, a person came to her holding some file in hand and said,
"Hey newbie, scan this documents and pass it to me before lunch break," she said and tossed the documents on Xiaoqi's desk.
As she had no other thing to do, she didn't mind it and started to work on it immediately. Although her cocky way of saying it makes her want to sew her lips up.
Less than an hour before lunch break…
"Here are all the documents," Xiaoqi handed the files at the person who gave it to her.
"Did you check each one of it?"
"Yes, I've checked all of them and made sure that nothing's missing, I have also arranged it and read them myself. And If I could, I would like to suggest renewing this, this, and this part." Xiaoqi suggested pointing at the points in the paper.
While she was scanning the documents, she got bored and read each one of it and found that there was something there that couldn't quite satisfy her. She thought there was a much better way to market the product and some strategies didn't qualify to her standards.
"I think you should change these parts of your proposal; it doesn't fit the theme of the product. Moreover――"
"Oh really? Who are you to tell me what to do? You're just a newbie and you're being cocky. Who do you think you are!?"
Aggravated, the woman raised her voice misunderstanding Xiaoqi's purpose.
"Miss…" she didn't know how to address her as she didn't know her name, but then she spotted her identification card written: 'Su Qian'.
"Miss Su, you've misunderstood me, I just wanted to help you create a better way to commercialize the product creating more market. Though I didn't say that your ideas were wrong, I suggested for you to change it for I believe that there's a better way to do this."
Xiaoqi explained calmly, with respect to her senior to avoid further arguments. However, it seemed like that Ms. Su Qian didn't want it to end easily as she got more aggravated after hearing her explanation.
"Are you saying that I'm wrong and you're right? Do you think you're better than me? You flatter yourself too much newbie!"
Xiaoqi got displeased by the way she spoke. Such an unreasonable person, I can't believe this famous company hires people like her. She doesn't even know how to listen to other people's suggestions and even scolds them for doing so. Moreover, she wastes more time that could be used to work and plan. Is she working for leisurely? I can't believe this kind of person gets paid the same amount as those who are truly working overtime for the company.
"Ms. Su, this is a work place and not a place to argue. As an employee you know that you can get scolded at times and be told to do thing over and over again. You should learn how to listen and learn from the person who is suggesting something. I am just helping you by giving suggestions, if you don't want it then leave it; I never forced you to do it."
Xiaoqi turned her back after saying those words not being interested to Su Qian's reply or reaction. With careful thought, she hoped that she would reflect upon what she just did and refrain from doing it again.
However, not all persons are the same. Some are professional enough to handle such situations and others lash out.
"Hey! How dare you turn your back on me, I'm not even done talking to you. Is this how you treat your superior? You're just some new personnel here; you should know your place!"
People are truly different, those who are educated keep on learning as he knows he still lacks knowledge, on the other hand, others who stop their learning stops growing and believes that they are better than others at some point. You can't group an educated person with those who aren't; they would only create a ruckus and loss more than what they gain. That's why inequality exists. Alas…
Xiaoqi just walked away not saying anything and pretending not to hear her spilling those words with her sharp tongue.
Meanwhile, Su Qian couldn't just easily let go of Xiaoqi that she swore she would get back at her making her know her own place.
After work…
Sitting in front of her computer, Xiaoqi left out a deep sigh. It was a tough day and she even encountered an argument during her first day. How much more would she encounter? It didn't seem that this Su Qian person was someone who easily lets people go… Alas, where did it all go wrong?
