Daddy raised an eyebrow in disbelief.

Digging through his stacks of papers that were scattered on his office desk, he handed out what out what seemed to be a copy of the contract.

"Don't lose it. You will not get another one. For two hours, the child's training will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at three in the afternoon. Keep in mind that during your probation, you will have many eyes on you."Daddy threatened with a malicious smile on his face.

"Yes, I am aware, your Majesty. However, I am confident about my skill and ability to train without error." Faye replied with pride.

Daddy nodded as he took a sip of his tea.

"Tomorrow, being Monday- will be the child's first training period. Make sure to report back to me after the training is done. You, mage, can go. You, child - stay."

Faye bowed before exiting the french doors behind her.

"I will see you tomorrow afternoon, Princess." The child mage said as she bowed before me.

My eyes followed her, causing my head to turn as she left the room.

This is not the timid child I hired to be my personal mage. Did I make a mistake? This feels… strange.

"Sit." Daddy commanded as he took a sip of his tea, sitting on the other side of his office desk.

I sat down anxiously, waiting for my next order from the man in front of me.

"Are you sure this is the mage you want? If you want to change your mind, remember that the mage is on three-month probation. I can fire that child any time." Daddy asked with a hence of concern in his tone.

I shook my head and looked at him with a stern expression.

"No… I want Faye. She will be my personal mage and trainer. I Feel… good about my choice, daddy." I said with confidence.

"Very well. I will have the guards escort you back. Keep in mind, you may not have classes today. However, I expect you to review your books for tomorrow's test with your professor." Daddy shooed me away with his hand while holding documents with the other hand.

I sighed gently as I hurried down from the chair.

"Yes, daddy." I replied obediently. I looked back before exiting the imperial office.

Daddy continued looking through the documents with ease and placing them into stacks.

"I can feel your eyes staring at me, child. I will see you for dinner. Off you go now." He smirked as he raised his head, looking back at me.

I smiled and nodded before the french doors opened in front of me.

I wonder If I can see Isaiah today. Wait, no… today is Sunday. I only see him on the weekdays. But, at least I made a new friend! Faye is a few years older than me but a child nonetheless.

Arriving at the Emerald palace, I saw Marina with a heavy book in her hands - waiting for me.

Ugh… so much for relaxing on the weekends. It's a good thing I am not an actual six-year-old who enjoys her playtime.

"Your tutor is here, Princess. I will escort you to the emerald library now." Marina explained as she held my hand while holding that heavy book with the other hand pressed up against her chest.

This old man… Where is professor Luca? I prefer his presence. At least he won't snitch on me for being distracted.

After my dull study session and dinner with daddy, I rested comfortably in my bed, waiting for Marina to tuck me into bed.

"No book reading today, Princess?" Marina questioned as she stared at my nightstand.

"No, not today, Marina. I have a big day ahead of me tomorrow. I have training tomorrow!" I explained with excitement.

"So I heard. A young mage- nearly your age. Are you certain you want someone that young to train you, Princess?" Marina questioned me as she leaned in to position my pillows behind me.

"Everyone else seemed… Focused on themselves. It is like they are trying to prove they are the best. I wanted someone humble… someone, who does not need that kind of ego. I am around my dad, who has enough ego and confidence to fill the whole world. Plus, everyone else was super old. You should have seen it. Besides… I like Faye…" I continued.

"Faye… I see. I guess that's her name, hm?" Marina smiled and kissed my forehead.

"Good night, Princess. May the sun, moon and stars be with you."
