"Come out you murderers!". Carl shouted, standing outside the FireWing mansion. "Come out and face me!".
"What do you want? Why are you here?". Hamlin asked as he got out of the mansion, Aisha and Araminta following him behind.
"Sweetie go back inside, your father and I got this". Aisha whispered to Araminta who left reluctantly, her eyes darting from her parents to Carl.
"Stop pretending we all know what you did!". Carl shouted. "You came into our territory and killed my father just because we refused to sign a treaty with you!".
"Killed your father?". Hamlin echoed.
"Chief Shane Wang is dead? How?". Aisha asked.
"We certainly did not kill your father Carl". Hamlin replied ignoring the fact that Carl wasn't answering them.
They weren't lying. Carl had been listening to their heartbeats and they weren't lying. Actually, the couple had been shocked by the news too... he had come here thinking they were responsible for his Father's death. Thinking that Ambrose had told them about his plans and they had decided to act first by killing his father but he was wrong. His assumptions were wrong.
The FireWings did not kill his father. Meaning there was someone else against them. A new declared enemy that he had to haunt down.
"We all know if your father is dead then it's either one of your councillors or you!". Plutonic blutered out standing on the doorway leading to the inside of the mansion. He looked much better than earlier. "I'm going to ask you to leave peacefully or we won't be held responsible for what will happen".
Carl looked at them then at the flat stabbed roof of the mansion where he saw Lucky and Ambrose looking down at them. Before his eyes darted down to the couple and the Alpha, he saw Rufus by the window also looking at him. His heartbeat was uptick and he looked angry.. sad... disappointed... Wait, how was he still alive and well?... but that didn't concern him, right?. If the FireWings knew he was the one who had Rufus caught by the hunters, they would burn him to death instantly.
He sighed. He was foolish for coming here to confront them even without doing his investigations first. He would have to consult Akaya to help him out with this issue. He internally scolded himself.
"Our condolences Carl. But do you seriously think we'd kill your father over a treaty that even our fathers never signed?". Aisha asked.
She was right. He didn't want to stat there any longer for the more he stood there the more he felt ashamed of himself. This was so embarrassing.
"My eyes are on you red things" He muttered before flying back to his territory.
FLASHBACK
"Bad news!. Bad News!". A boy shouted, he came running in the NightWing's mansion where the clan members were.
"What is wrong Hans?". Carl asked as he came downstairs, hands in his pants pockets.
"I- I don't know how to -to say this. You better come see for yourselves". The boy, Hans stuttered out. Everyone stood up, alerted that something was wrong. Hans ran out, morphing his bat like wings out to fly away, the others following suit. Flying was much faster than running.
"Is that the Chief?". One of them asked as they landed on the clearing. Most of them gasped. This wasn't the way Chief Shane Wang had left the mansion, of course he was dead now just being a shell of skin and bones. He looked horrific.
"What happened?". Another member asked.
"I don't know. I was out here for patrol like he told to do everyday at four and then I found him like this". Hans explained.
"You heard nothing?". One of the female councillors asked.
Hans shook his head, "I swear that I heard nor saw nothing".
Carl was perplexed not knowing what to do. He always wanted to be Chief but now he was automatically one. He hadn't intended to be Chief this quick. He hadn't intended for his father, Chief Shane Wang to loose his life like this.
"Father.." He mumbled, trying to steady out his breathe as he looked at the corpse in front of him one last time before flying away.
"He's saddened by this. Let's give him time to mourn his father, our chief alone". The female councillor instructed. "Whoever did this is an enemy. We have to look out for one another to avoid such from happening again".
"Like no going out alone. Walk in groups of two or more if you must go out". Patrick one of the elderly Phoenixes added. "Whoever did this must still be out here so we need volunteers to keep watch. We shall take turns".
"What about we send four of our best men to search out this moron that did this?". The female councillor, Agatha, asked.
"Yeah, that too can work". Patrick agreed not wanting to argue with the shrewish phoenix.
"We must avenge our chief. Whoever did this must pay!". Agatha exclaimed loudly, most of the members agreeing with her.
Her heart had skipped a beat and Patrick had heard the skip. It was either she was the one who killed their chief or she was lying about being serious in searching for the murderer. Agatha was the head of councillors and he knew she was power thirsty just like Carl. But he said nothing so as to avoid fighting with her.
"Right. Why don't you take charge of the security and investigations of what did this to the chief then?". Patrick suggested gesturing to their Chief's corpse with his hand. Not because he wanted her to take charge but because he wanted to do his own investigation and know if it was indeed her or not.
"I will gladly do so". Agatha responded through gritted teeth. Patrick flew away leaving Agatha to give out instructions.
Akaya stood on the cubed roof of the mansion. Through her witchcraft, she could see and hear what the NightWing members were doing and saying perfectly fine. She smirked to herself, the fall down of the NightWing clan was going to happen soon.
END OF FLASHBACK..
"Where were you?". Akaya asked her brows furrowed and arms crossed against her chest.
Cark sighed, "I made a fool out of myself".
"What did you do?" Akaya asked turning to face the window where she could see the members of the clan on patrol getting ready to go on their posts.
"I went to confront the FireWings". Carl answered. Akaya turned to face him so quickly and hard that she thought her neck almost snapped.
"What did you say you did again?". Akaya asked. She couldn't believe that Carl had gone to control her clan members without her knowledge. Had she attacked them?. Had she hurt any of them?.... No! He couldn't have hurt them especially Lucky, right?. If he did, he was going to pay with his life... in fact she was getting hungry and she needed a snack.
Her breathing was getting fast and heavy... her chest heaved up and down making Carl wonder why his witch was behaving in such a manner. Was she attached somehow to the FireWings?.
"I went to confront the FireWings". He repeated.
"Where?". Akaya asked almost in a whisper.
"In their territory?". He posed it as a question.
"Why did you do that? Why did you go there? Huh?". Akaya yelled sending vibrations in the room that moved a few things. Carl took a step back. There was something wrong here and he had no idea what it was.
"Because I thought they were the ones who killed my father". Carl replied.
"Such a lame excuse. You had gone there for some other reason Carl. We all know the FireWings are capable of no such thing". Akaya said through gritted teeth.
"I thought it was them. Why are you acting this way?. Whose side are you on?".
"You went there without consulting me first".
Carl huffed, "You're not my mother for me to seek permission before I leave home".
Akaya cracked her fingers and lifted her hand as the same yellow light she had produced earlier with Chief Shane Wang shone and she froze Carl completely.
"You don't deserve to be eaten by anyone. You'll just ruin their appetites all the more". She said as she passed Carl's frozen statue.
"You don't deserve to be chief of this clan. You deserve death instead most especially now that you're from the FireWings without my knowledge. Let me tell you something even if you are already dead, no one!. Absolutely no one goes to face them without my consultation!". She said as she reached for the door knob. "Whoever touches you will be frozen to death in the same way, all I want, is for my son's enemies to be wiped off of the face of this earth".
Akaya left. This was not the way she had planned to do things but she was sure that the remaining clan members who would manage to survive, would seek help from the FireWings. All she wanted was to make Lucky ruler of all supernaturals. She knew his strength and capabilities... she also needed to revive the Golden powers in the boy as soon as possible.
