"Wait, what?" The situation perplexed Akaya. She couldn't tell whether what she'd heard was genuine or if it had all been in her head.

"You can read other people's thoughts? When did you start? Why didn't you tell me earlier?!," She was unsure.
"Have you known me since I was four years old?" He was more questioning in his response.
"Certainly not! What am I thinking about right now?" She inquired, keeping her gaze fixed on him.
She'd decided to put his ostensibly mind-reading powers to the test right then and there, to see if he was telling the truth or not.
He was extremely excellent at disguising his heartbeat, and she wouldn't know if he had lied to her or not if she didn't hear his heartbeat, so trying him out was the best option.
