Chapter 8 - Flowers

My eyes flash all around, taking in as much of the beautiful interior as I can. I was well rested unlike before allowing me to actually take in my surroundings.

Black and white marble fill my eyes as I pass through. Fountains placed every fifteen feet from each other each on with their own mood. Gold trims the ceilings and floor, I could practically smell the money in the air. Click-click-click. My heels click across the marble floors as I make my way to the exit doors. The cool northern breeze bites at my skin as I step outside. It was early summer but the harsh wind made it feel as if fall was right around the corner. I walk on the sidewalk, people surrounding me, passing by and carrying on with their everyday lives. I window shop for quite some time before deciding to head into a flower shop. Dalton had bought me flowers last night but there was no such thing as too many flowers in my opinion. My eyes scan across the array of flowers, sunflowers, daisy's, baby's breath. They were all beautiful but I needed some flowers that would go with the ones I got last night. After bantering in my head about which flowers to get, I finally settle on a large bunch of baby's breath. upon exiting the shop I take in my surroundings, my eyes landing on a large bookstore. I immediately think of him." Drystan." I sigh. I did bad about my outburst earlier but he had it coming. I sigh as I make my way to the bookstore. After entering the bookstore doors, my nostrils are filled with the smell of paper. I take in a deep breath before beginning my search for a book that he might like. I search shelf after shelf before my eyes land on a thriller-romance novel. I quickly skim over the book before deciding to buy it, along with an antique bookmark.. The last stop I wanted to make was an Ice cream or bakery shop. I end up finding two-in-one a few blocks down from the flower shop I had previously shopped at.

After spending fifty-two dollars on ice cream and pastries, I make my way out into the night sky. I glance down at my phone to check the time. 6:57pm. I hadn't realized I'd been gone that long. I begin my long walk back to the hotel my feet starting to become sore from the only pair of shoes I had. It would be nice to stop at a shoe store. I quickly find one and grab a pair of sneakers I like. They were tan and would go with almost all of my clothes. I buy them before returning on my path home. I begin to think on my walk back. I think about me, my life, and almost everything living-thing under the sun. My thoughts were where I felt the most comfortable. In my thoughts, I lived in a fantasy world, one where I was happy and people actually cared about what I had to say and felt. A small sigh leaves my lips as bright lights flash in my eyes from the passing cars. My cell phone goes off. I glance down to see that it's Drystan. I let it ring as I approach the halfway mark. He calls time and time again until his large Suv pulls up next to me. He says nothing as he opens the door allowing me to crawl in. I do so, my hands full of things I'd bought on my little adventure in this city that I still didn't know the name of.

We arrive at the hotel within minutes and begin our trip all the way up to the top floor. We stand awkwardly in the elevator, nothing but Drystan's frustrated sighs being heard every now and then. I remember the ice cream and hurriedly hand him a cone. He pauses abruptly and accepts it wearily, making a cautious face while doing so. I immediately begin to devour my own, not wanting it to melt in my hands.

The ding of the elevator goes off bringing us up to our floor. I follow behind Drystan to the hotel door before he unlocks it. I quickly kick off my shoes at the door and plop down on the sofa, bags in hand. Drystan lays down on the bed in the separate room behind me. After a few minutes of letting my feet rest. I fumble through the bags and pull out his book, along with the vintage bookmark I bought him. I set my bags down on the floor and slowly make my way towards Drystan, both items behind my back. The Alpha glances up at me from his phone in silence, anxiety written plainly on his features. Though he had a reason to be anxious, it upset me to see him become anxious so easily.

"What are you doing?"

I pull my arms from behind my back and place the book and bookmark on the bed in front of him. A wide smile creeps onto his features as he reaches for the book. He skims over it quickly and I turn away taking my place back on the sofa. I stretch my body out across the sofa allowing my tired muscles to relax, a pop sound releasing itself from my joints. My eyes shut closed while I lay in silence.

"There are three chocolate creme filled donuts and four strawberry tarts for you in the purple bag. I got fifteen chocolate eclairs and two cakes for us to share." I mumble out.

The room remains silent as I feel Drystan's presence near my own. His cologne creeps into my senses as I open my eyes. The alpha hovers above me, green eyes peering down at me.

"Thank you, love." He whispers, placing a small kiss on my forehead. I hum in response before turning over on my side. The Alpha then places a kiss on my cheek before speaking. "I don't want you leaving without me." He mumbles, reaching down to caress my cheek.

" I know."

"je suis sérieux, Amelia." He says, slightly raising his voice.

"I know." I sigh. I wasn't going to run away. I had nowhere to go except maybe South america. The packs in South America had no part of our government system. So I could go there without Drystan legally being able to take me back with him. But even if I could, I wouldn't. The packs that would die because of me would be too difficult for me to bare. I turn on my back to look up at the silent man in front of me. His green eyes tracing all across my troubled features.

"Why are you so worried about me trying to leave? I don't have anywhere to go, Drystan."

He sighs loudly before leaning down to softly kiss my forehead once again. "I'm just scared." My eyebrows furrow as I sit up and turn to him. The alpha sits down beside me, a sigh leaving him as he does so. He takes a deep breath before connecting his nervous eyes with my own. "You are the most important possession I have ever had and I'm afraid someone will take you from me, again."

"Nobody took me, Dystan. I left."

"I know that but I-I….." The alpha reaches out and places his hand on my thigh. "Someone... emotionally took you away from me..., and then you left me."

I nod my head in understanding. I reach down in the bag at my feet and hand him an eclair. He leans over and takes a bite of it before wrapping his fingers around my wrist. He holds my hand in place as he feeds himself. I become very uncomfortable not being one for intimate things. I couldn't tell him to stop but I couldn't just snatch my hand away either.

"Stop." I hiss. He ignores me until he finishes his eclair and releases me. I glare at him, my eyes throwing daggers at him.

"You know I don't like that." I growl, slapping his arm. He smirks before standing up and disappearing behind me. "You're not fucking cute."I curse jokingly.

He laughs aloud, his deep chuckle bouncing off the walls of our hotel room. A smile immediately takes over my face. I hadn't heard him laugh in forever, it was nice to hear it.
