Chapter 39 - Mission: Start

Zao and Arnwall escort their respected parties to the meeting room with a few other guards. Arnwall and Zao stand at the door as their parties take their seats.

Arnwall glances to Valura who sat in front of him speaking to the others. He couldn't see her expression but he could feel her malice toward the others from her tone alone.

Zao:*whisper* Glace.

Arnwall looks to Zao.

Zao: *whisper* the guardian is the small freckled girl in mid-range armor.

Arnwall looks to the described person that sat next to the ambassador with her arms folded and a patient expression. Her glares to him spoke madness though. Sicily Hale of Camus La Verse.

Arnwall:*whisper* I was told we should be extra cautious of her. She only here for the fury's head because of the "double". If what he tells me is true I have to be extra careful not to let her know of the madam.

Zao:**why is that?

Arnwall:**... I'll tell you on the first break.

Caya's inn...

Gen steps out from beneath the stairs with Caya by the hand stepping in after him. She wobbles a bit from the sensation of her first shadow trip.

Zao:**anyway. How is Caya and the others from the inn?

Arnwall: she's walking again. The guest from the inn are in the hobble near here. Some of them are being treated for injuries in the underground at the moment by the "double" and doc.

Zao:**wha...!? S-she's walking again!? What did he do!?

Caya guilds Gen to the back room and hands him a large sack of black powder.

Arnwall:** I don't want you straining yourself so I'll give you all the details later. Right now everything has been set in motion. So stay composed with the good news for now.

Gen leaves the inn back through the shadows.

Zao:**... Right. Your right. *sigh*

The black market...

The day had yet to begin with the moon still in the sky as Gen walks to the wall holding the black powder. Behind him stood a small army of mafia armed and ready to loot. Gen throws the sack of powder up in the air, letting it rain down on everyone before fall on the other side of the wall. The group follows him up and over the wall after the powder and disperse in to segments to each house from the highers. Some dispose of all the guards and replace them. The rest take the chance to raid each house of their secrets and travel down to the dungeons through the houses.

A few hours pass as the highers continue to talk. It was getting close to the first break. All the preparations have been set.

The back alley...

John climbs out of the underground with the residence from the inn and guilds the to the hobble. From their he guides the rest back to the inn. Each person had a letter written against any negotiation that may have discussed with them prior to the current events. Each noble, royal, and guild-master trailing behind him furious and ready to help the people of the city. They sneak around the through the darkness of the back ways behind the buildings to stay out of sight from patrolling guards.

The tower...

The bell chimes for the first break Arnwall walks with Zao to the courtyard, trading places with the other guards that stood watch at the entrance of the meeting room. He tells Zao about all that had happened the moment he went missing that morning. Sicily went looking for them out of curiosity when she sees the treasurer, Valura, sneak out after them.

Valura makes it just in time to hear something she didn't expect to hear from the two of them as she watched Zao remove his helmet and burst into tears of Joy. Arnwall simply smiles at him as he continued to talk and comfort Zao with the good news. She never thought she would get the chance to see him smiling so softly. It made her chest feel warm inside.

Sicily arrives behind her and gets her attention.

Sicily: what is that man crying about?

Valura: *gasp!*

Arnwall and Zao hear her voice and turn to look to the two of them in dreaded surprise. Zao looks always and quickly rubs his eyes of tears.

Arnwall: miss Hale! ... Madam Valura? What are you doing out of the meeting room? At this time. It may be break but I'm sure you were told none of the highers were to leave it.

Valura: L-like I could stay in a room filled with filth like them anymore than necessary. That pig can go up in smoke for all I care.

Arnwall notices her sudden blunder and sees Sicily was simply bored.

Arnwall:... Zao. Take miss Hale back to the meeting room. You can tell her what she "needs" to know. I'll keep the madam safeguarded for now.

Zao meets Arnwall's glint of awareness.

Zao: alright. Miss Hale. If you please.

Sicily:... What where you crying for? You really are an emotional bundle huh? I kind of feel bad for miss Caya to have to deal with such a man baby.

Zao could hear the sarcasm in her voice.

Zao: did... She, by chance, tell you? About her and I?

Sicily: so what if she did? Your soon to be married. But she got sick and. You need the money for her medicine so you did your best to raise you stats to higher pay and better treatment for her right? But then that happened and everything went out of wack and now you dont know what to do about it but cry and prey right?

Zao was amazed that she deduced that from just seeing him cry. He felt embarrassed from being so unsightly in front of someone of greater ranks.

Zao: f-forgive me. I'm sure it must have been troublesome to see such a think from someone of my status.

Sicily: don't worry about it. You seem to have been holding a lot of stress.

Zao: yes. Thank you for your concern. But everything is fine now. Its all well and good again. He simply told me some good news to cheer me up.

Sicily:.... I see.
