'Just one more level and I'll be proceeding to the third floor,' Lane said as he slashed his sword to a zombie and for another hundred of experience points. The zombies were fairly weak, even weaker than the skeletons, but the one who gave Lane the most exp was the centipede.

His sword wouldn't pierce through the centipede skin easily, but the amount of exp that it gave was fairly decent for the time that he spent to kill a centipede. It took him around two minutes to kill a centipede since their hard skin made it harder for a regular iron sword to penetrate, just like an iron sword through body armor, it wouldn't do the job better than the lancer class.

But the exp that he got from killing a centipede was very massive, almost five times the amount that he got from killing a zombie. He got five hundred experience points once he killed a centipede.

It was the very definition of power leveling. Lane kept killing the monsters until they spawned back and killed it again. He was like, slashing his sword anywhere as long as it hit something that will give him experience points.

"Buer, is there anything better than my iron sword?" Lane asked Buer.

"For now? Not really, even you don't have the material to build another iron sword. Keep an eye out for a chest though, monster don't drop loot at this level," Buer said to Lane.

"Yeah, I know that I know that since the mobs haven't dropped any weapon for me yet," Lane said as he continued slashing the centipede until it dropped dead. After the centipede dropped dead, he immediately gained experience points, but it was still far enough before he could level up again.

"Buer, do I have a night vision ability or something? Fighting with one hand is not that easy," Lane said as he fought with one hand while the other was holding a torch.

"Well, sorry, but you only can do it by drinking a potion, learning a skill/spell, or by turning into another creature, for example, demon," Buer said as he smirked.

Lane knew that the demon was far stronger than even a superhuman, how strong demon could be? That was in Lane's mind all the time, especially when the one inside his head was a former demon lord. Nevertheless, another zombie just appeared right in front of him and he immediately slashed that zombie as if it was thin air. They became too weak that leveling using them wasn't that efficient unless he was attacked by a horde of zombie.

"How were your friends in the old world?" Buer immediately asked that question. As if he hadn't asked that question before.

"Good, they were good friends," Lane said, but Buer immediately thought that as a denial.

"Really? Killing you are what good friends do?" Buer gave his doubt since he knew how Lane was treated in the old world. His life was a complete mess that was filled with sabotage from his friends. His grade was bad simply because someone forged evidence that he was cheating although he wasn't.

"Yeah."

"You're too naive. Why did you tell me that you want to kill your friends when I revived you?" Buer didn't like Lane's behavior. He should feel anger when Buer mentioned his friends, but why he mentioned that he still called his traitors as a friend.

"It was obvious, wasn't it? They tried to kill me," Lane said, explaining his sudden burst of anger.

"Yes, but why don't you feel that anymore?" Buer asked that.

"I don't know, the anger is just gone," Lane smiled as if nothing happened to him. Buer just made a face slap once he heard Lane's decision. After all, he had been through, why Lane could keep his humanity. At this point, anyone would be turned into a monster after been betrayed by someone.

"You know, you need to face the real world sometimes. Live isn't all rainbow and sunshine," Buyer said.

"So?"

"You need to kill your friends," Buer said.

"But they're my friends," Lane said.

Bier sighed, "I don't know what to say at this point," he disappeared again from Lane's head and he continued leveling up by killing more monsters.

One monster became dead, followed by another one, and eventually another one in consequence. It was very fast, nobody could perceive the rate of Lane killing those monsters. All he cared for was to how to level up faster.

Lane continued swinging his sword until he stumbled upon something very weird that was dropped by one of the centipedes. It was some kind of metal jewelry that was dropped by one of the centipedes.

"What's this?" Lane asked as he picked up that centipede jewelry from the ground. It was similar to a centipede in terms of shape, but it wasn't a living creature, it was a metal statue of some sort.

"Why don't you use that?" Buer offered Lane to use the centipede jewelry. But Lane didn't have any idea on how to use it. As a result, he didn't know that it was something that was too simple to use.

It was a special item, a boss summoning item, from the looks of it, it was used to summon centipede boss. To use it, you just have to live it above your head and swing it multiple times and the boss will eventually appear. It was very simple but very deadly at the same time since a boss could be spawned almost everywhere at night time.

"How?" Lane asked that question.

"Easy, just wave it around several times above your head and the jewelry will eventually disappear," Buer tricked Lane to do that since he was pissed on Lane's naivety.

Lane did that and waved the jewelry multiple time above his head and eventually, that jewel disappeared and all of the monsters around him ran away in fear. The ground beneath him started shaking.

[CENTIPEDE Lord has been awoken]

A status message appeared on his head as the ground continued shaking like there was a high magnitude earthquake. Then Lane's worst fear was confirmed, it was a giant centipede that suddenly appeared from the ground below him.

It was a centipede with a size thrice of his body size and had a lot of legs and was very long. It was scary as hell, especially when it started roaring mercilessly to its victim, Lane who was fearing for his life.

"Good luck. Buer signing off," Buer said as he left Lane's head as the centipede started charging on Lane's direction.

The centipede started crawling on the ground with its legs towards Lane's direction. Lane hadn't realized the seriousness of his situation since he hadn't known the strength of that centipede yet.

[7000/7000 Health. Centipede]

Lane slashed his sword and he only dealt a small amount of damage although the sword pierced the giant centipede.

[6987/7000 Heath. Centipede]

"What in the actual?" Lane said as he dodged the centipede fang that let out the venom.

"Ah yes. Not enough damage isn't it. It's a boss," Bier said as Lane slashed his sword one more time at the centipede. He couldn't kill the centipede instantly by just slashing his sword like an ordinary monster either.

[6980/7000 Health. Centipede.]

Lane was caught in one of the poisons that were spit by the centipede. "It burns!" Lane said as his skin immediately turned reddish and he got burn damage.

[Poisoned: Health -2/second. 60 seconds]

"It burns like hell," Lane said as he slashed his sword to the centipede harder to inflict more damage at the centipede. It wasn't that much either.

[6960/7000 Health. Centipede]

"Use skills," Buer said as Lane was burned by the centipede poison.

"How?" Lane asked, he even didn't know that he had any skills.

"Like this [Fast Blade]," Buer chanted a skill, and Lane's sword automatically swung faster at that centipede and did a fairly amount of damage.

[6700/7000 Health. Centipede]

Lane continued slashing his sword for thirty seconds until the skill began to cool down. He needed to wait for fifteen seconds before he could use that skill again.

[6200/7000 Health. Centipede]

Fifteen seconds didn't sound that long, but it was too long for Lane since the centipede boss was very strong and spit a very strong poison that could kill him at any second.

"SHIT," Lane looked at the skin of his body that had revealed some meat. It was badly charred from the centipede poison.

[770/900 Health. Lane McFarlane]

Lane didn't know what to do besides keep attacking the centipede and hope for the best. His only sword wasn't enough to kill the boss instantly.
