Chapter 18 - seventeen

Stranger.

If you were kidnapped you would expect to be in a cold dark room. Where the walls were naked and you sat chained on the ground with a mattress beside you that's more than likely a home to bacterias of all kind. Well that's not the case with mine. Music resonated the room as the scent of cookies waft my nose. The walls were not the dull color of cement. Instead, bright yellow filled my vision. I found myself tucked in a nice gigantic bed. The sheets smooth as silk and the pillows fluffed to perfection. My hands weren't restrained neither were my feet. I couldn't help but wonder why.

Hell wasn't supposed to feel like heaven, right?

The door opening caught my attention. My eyes brighten in recognition. It's her! The masked woman! Tendrils of her hair cascaded behind her like halo. Unlike her usual mask, this one covered only half of her face. She's absolutely stunning. In her hands, she held a tray filled with food. Placing it on top of my lap before snatching a cookie for herself.

"Eat." She orders.

Although the delightful smell of pancakes tempted me, I knew better than to feast in an enemy's territory. "Why am I here?" She chewed on the cookie and swallowed before answering.

"Eat first and then I'll tell you. I would never wish harm upon you, Vernamina. Do not fret. The food isn't poisoned." I pick up the fork and knife, I cut a slice of pancake.

Taking a bite, chewing slowly. I reflect on exigencies before, I remember being with my cousin. We sat in one of Damocles' clubs. After a drink or so, I danced. Dame left to handle some clients, I was left alone. Though, I continued throughout my night as I knew he left people to watch over me.

Insouciant of me, I know. But could you blame me? I wanted to have fun, momentarily forget about Stavros' words that marked into my head. However, no matter how hard I try to avoid it... my thoughts always went back to him. Maybe our feelings were a limerence. Infatuation we refuse to see and want to call it love instead. Everything's happening so quickly...

Next thing I know a hand's clamped down my mouth and dragged me inside a car. I'm not sure if I passed out naturally or they knocked me out by force.

She watched me finish my food. Kind of creepy.

"You still don't know what danger your family attracts. God," She huffs. "Your father did something so imbecilic."

I stay silent, letting her rant out.

"You're boyfriend, you shouldn't trust him as much." She shook her head. What? "He's not who you think he is. He might seem like he loves you but he doesn't. Believe me."

Why would I believe a stranger rather than my own boyfriend? "You, you're a big asset to him. He's gonna use you to—"

"Let me get this straight," I put a hand up. "You kidnap me to what? To talk shit about my boyfriend? Why would I even listen to you in the first place I don't even know who you ar—"

"I loved him!" Her voice quaked. "But he didn't, all because he was too invested in his goddamn plan!"

She's insane.

I turned my body away from her as she slowly crept towards me. "I set the fire. I didn't mean to harm you, it was only to warn you. You don't know who you're with, you better—" The door broke down.

There stood the main in question. Stavros strapped himself in bulletproof armor, his face covered with the tinted shield of the helmet he wore. A rifle in arms as his soldiers swarmed through like bees. The masked lady raised her arms up in defense.

"Restrain her." Stavros commands. "On your fucking knees, Feyre." Like she was burnt, she dropped to her knees. Her body shook with anticipation and trepidation.

While they strapped her down, Stavros took off his head gear dropping it along with his riffle before he walked to me. He cups my face in his hands before his lips attacked mine. Longing and punishing; yet effortlessly soft, in a way. I push him slightly, stopping our kiss. My chest heaved up and down. His breath heavied.

"Wh-what was that for?"

He brushed me off and proceeded to give out orders. He helps me out of the bed, we make our way out this place. We roamed through this maze, which will forever give me the chills.

"I loved him!"

"He was too invested in his goddamn plan!"

"He might seem like he likes you. But believe me, he doesn't."

"Your father did something so imbecilic."

Feyre's words echo in my mind profusely. More questions piled down my list. What did my father do? Why did she seem so invested in warning me, did she want Stavros back? What is he hiding from me?

"I'll drive us," Stavros snatched the keys off of a soldiers hand. He turns to me, nodding his head to the car. "Come on."

I heard him yet my body seemed to froze. With weary eyes, I look at him. The rational part of me wanted to run, away from him and get my answers. Yet the beating internal organ of mine, wished to stay. She said I didn't know who he was. That he isn't who I think he is. She could be wrong, right?

Stavros groaned before yanking me to him. He scoops me into his arms and seated me at the passenger seat. Rounding his way to the driver's seat. "Seatbelt." He reminds.

I reluctantly do so. The car roars to life. Soon, we were on the road. Tranquility shroud us throughout the ride. I collect my thoughts, how could I approach him? I decide to just say it, I'll regret it later.

"What did she want from me?" I play with the hem of my shorts. I peak up at him through my eyelashes, "Is she one of your samplers?"

He glanced at me then focused his eyes on the road. "I messed up."

"She said..." I let out a blow of air. "That I didn't know you... what does that mean? Are you hiding something from me?"

His knuckles paled as his grip on the steering wheel tightened. I'm left with my own thoughts once again.
