Conch looks behind him to make sure Coral wasn't on his way yet. He's most likely stuck on the island because the sand grew to hot for his new feet. He's very hesitant to help her up. It was obvious that she wasn't a local fish in the seas they swim in.
Conch-
How did you find this place? And why are you not in your own waters? You're obviously not from around here.
She was now too afraid to answer. The mermaid knew she might be in trouble, but she couldn't do anything in her conditions. Conch saw this and let go of his hesitation. He moves the rubble from on top of her with his tentacles and sees a lot of bruises on her back from it. As she sits up, he notices a scratch on her arm and upper fin. She must have been through something and mistook this place as a hiding spot.
He almost felt sorry for her misfortune. Almost.
Conch-
Answer, because I can't guarantee your safety here.
Zui-
... Zui. My name is Zui. I come from Chinese golf. Go to atlas for treaty, but stopped by deep trench with cloud. I am lost.
Her soft voice and broken language was far too sweet to hear as she spoke. He started to feel even worse, praying Coral didn't come down. He picks her up and carries her to his room with the leviathan's pearl. It began to glow and open as he sat her next to it. Coral isn't allowed in the room.
Conch-
Stay here. I'll be back.
As he leaves, the pearl's light dims but it doesn't close.
