Chapter 17 - I just woke up, is this a nightmare?

"I just woke up… and I'm already hearing loud fighting sounds… can someone just knock me out again already?" A dizzy Juan woke up to sounds of the tub of water overflowing, sounds of fighting outside, and sounds of his own head spinning.

He didn't even realize that the man drowning next to him was already gone, along with the blood splattered around, when he forced himself up. He went outside without any idea of whatever the hell was going on around him.

He's about to vomit blood, lemme tell ya.

Upon reaching the end of the hallway leading to the door, he vomited a mix of blood, milk, and some disgusting things I would love to tell you guys about but I won't because I don't wanna gross you out.

A wet guy was sitting at the doorstep drinking something. An old man was being helped up by his brother. A teenage looking boy was having goosebumps and was stuck stupefied near the fences. Most bizarre of all that he saw, were a kid lying supine, and a duck lying beside it near the broken fountain.

Everything in his field of vision is just appalling.

Of course it will be, since he's looking at his very own nasty vomit.

The scene outside is disgusting too, and that's what I'm telling you readers about. And absolutely not his vomit… hehe...

His head is in an even more miserable state right now.

The sound of someone vomiting behind him prompted our still unnamed after seventeen chapters main character to turn his head around slightly. This slight turn of his head was enough for him to see the full extent of the barf creeping fast onto him. He didn't even care about giving the still vomiting Juan something to wipe his face, and instead walked as if he hadn't seen a thing, straight to the scaredy cat teenager.

"Hey, we need help here! There's a kid, and a duck in pain here!" The kid is still whining about the two of them being ignored even by the healer for half a chapter already.

Alas, he just walked straight towards the teenager, without even looking at the whiny kid.

"Who the hell are you?" The MC's glare is already too much for our system-wielding superhuman aspirant to handle, so now that he's even asked by this murderous looking man, he fainted on the spot.

"Huh? Hey why'd you faint? Are you just an ordinary delivery man? Shit, I might've scared him a lot…"

"You look so bad, he fainted on the spot." The old man who just a minute ago was trading blows with the MC, is now snickering.

"Yeah… he saw everything from the start. Maybe his ordinary human brain has short-circuited." John provided a plain explanation of things, as if these two don't have any idea of that already. "Well, seems like him telling us that he's a Super too is a lie."

"Huh? This depressing kid said he's a Super?" This actually strong MC revealed his surprise.

How could anyone relate this passed out teenager to a Super? It's just like how anyone could relate this MC to a Super of course!

Damn… if I'm not the author of this thing, I would reluctantly wager a banana every time someone argues with me that these two are Supers…

"Well, go check if he's one. It's within your capabilities anyway." John shrugged the question off with a suggestion.

"I'm not a testing machine, asshole!" He retorted as if he doesn't want to do it, while his hands are already at the unconscious teenager's chest.

A globe of blood appeared behind the MC, making Juan—who'd just finished vomiting— feel as if he hadn't finished his barfing just yet. The globe moved to the front, hovering just above the unconscious teen. The kid lying several meters away can't see much, so he just continued whining.

This time, the unconscious man tensed up. The veins in his body bulged like it went berserk. Our main character's eyes burned crimson, almost copying the blood globe in front of him.

"This guy…" his voice sounded ancient, way different from his usual tone. "He's… indeed one…"

The two people behind him— Remus, and John respectively— wore an ugly mask. They didn't have any other strong reaction at the sight of the blood globes. The other person that saw it though, even from farther away, was Juan.

You know what he did after seeing the blood globe?

Do I still need to tell you that?

"So… John, is this the simple test you told me earlier?" Of course, Remus knew that the person in front of him could indeed do this, but he thought John would've had another more practical way.

Well this sounds pretty practical to me, at least.

The wet MC isn't wet anymore after his eyes reverted back to normal. The blood globe disappeared as well. The ridiculous bulging of Rick's veins are also back to normal, as if nothing happened.

The kid whining has also stopped. The duck… I mean… goose… has also passed out sometime ago. The unlimited barf man has also stopped.

Finally, there's peace in this damn place.

"What did you do to the kid?" Ex-boss Remus Irvin curiously asked. "He's not dead yet, right?"

"Nothing really… just probed if I can negate something. You do know that this ability of mine only is for Metahumans." The gaze of the young man is blank, as if hiding something profound. "Something clicked. So he passed out, because I nullified whatever power he had… lemme tell you right now though, that guy has serious potential. He's gonna get killed by a single slap from me right now, but he can be a monster in the future."

"Hmmm… then I'll take that to heart, seeing your grave expression." The old man hoisted a seat made of earth out of nowhere and sat with a smile. "Take a background check of that guy for me, John."

"Wait, you're not my boss anymore!" John's pretty much annoyed right now, with his ex-boss coming and wanting to crash in his house. "Can't you be any less shameless ordering the master of the house?"

"No. Just do it. I'm gonna help you make this house bigger for free." Well, if you think John's someone so gullible that he's gonna fall for this petty—

"It's my honor, boss."

I'm not done with my words yet! How dare you interrupt—

"Brother, don't get bullied!" Juan's voice was hoarse, thanks to vomit.

You're also interrupting me, you bas—

"Yeah, don't get bullied by this old bastard, John."

Even you? You're the MC here! You should not interrupt the—

"Hmph. You say that as if I'm bullying him. I'm just asking for an equivalent exchange. He allows us to crash in his house, and does my bidding like before in exchange for making his house way bigger." Remus then pulled a piece of gum from his pocket and chewed it loudly.

I've had enough! You're bullying me! I'm just gonna end this chapter! You guys are so uncool!

The author was so triggered, he cried while munching a banana he stole from someone.
