Chapter 26 - Damon’s Childhood Part 2: Ominous Feeling

At the age of 13 my whole life changed; I was innocent back then, I thought that people around me that I once trusted one won't change but after that accident, I realized their true colors.

When I regained consciousness, I felt that I was lying on my back on a bed that had a familiar feeling, I wanted to get up but my whole body was weakened and burning hot as if I had a high fever,

My eyes' lids were heavy but I slowly opened them and I could see the ceiling of my bedroom back at home.

After a while, I regained some of my strength and I could move around a little bit so I got up from the bed and walked outside the bedroom on the second stairs.

It was late at night and the whole house's lights were turned off, so I walked to my little sister's room to check on her, she was sleeping soundly on her bed.

While I was walking down the stairs to check on my parents I could hear them arguing about something but I didn't know what it's back then.

Once I knocked on their door, they suddenly stopped arguing, my father opened the door and told my mother not to bring up "that" matter ever again then he went outside the room and banged the door behind him, he held me from my hand and went back upstairs to my room.

While we were going back I asked my father innocently,

"Dad, did you fight with Mom about something?"

Father didn't reply right away so I looked up to his face as we were walking, it seemed to me that he was crying but he didn't show it.

"Don't worry son it was just a regular couple's fight." my father replied in a deep voice that seemed to be mixed with some sadness.

When we got into my room, father opened the light and seated me on my bed, then he trapped the chair of my desk to sit in front of me.

My father started talking in a serious tone saying,

"Son, there are some rules you have to follow from now on"

"Rules, what kind of rules, and why now?" I replied

"It's all for your safety and also to stay with us" he replied while tilting his head downwards.

I didn't understand what he meant by "to stay with us", but it was my first time having a serious talk with my father, it seemed that my father was at his wits for some reason, so I just nodded at him saying,

"Alright, Dad, I will follow those rules"

We spent the whole night talking together in my room till morning, my father kept telling me weird rules; like don't get too excited, don't do any strenuous exercise, don't make many friends, try to stay away from crowds, he kept going on…

"Listen this is the last rule, you have to follow it in any situation whatever it was" my father told me sternly.

,

"If ever anything weird happens to you, make sure to get away from people as far as you can"

When he said that, I remembered what happened back to my grandparents country house, I wanted to ask my father about it, but it seemed that he was about to cry as he was mentioning those rules, and if I asked that his eyes will start welling with tears, so I restrained myself from asking and just agreed to him.

After he was done he got up and returned the chair back to the desk then he closed the light and went outside saying,

"You have been awake the whole night, so i will leave to rest for a bit"

When I lay on my bed I couldn't sleep, I was deep in thoughts as to why my father mentioned those rules, I had a bad feeling about it but I couldn't put my thumb onto why.

I kept thinking till the first rays of sunlight lit up my room. The dawn chorus of melodic birdsong drifted in, it was already the morning.
