CLANK!
That was my new favorite sound, for the last 9 months I've been studying, training, enchanting and preparing everything to make a brand new Spirit Item, and now I'm swinging along the trees with a grappling hook, launched with Eneru, guided by Eneru, and retracted with Eneru.
'I've learned a few things in my short time in this world. First, this Eneru is an amazingly efficient energy resource, which is probably why it's so close to energy in it's spelling. Second, Eneru doesn't quite break physics, it gets close, but for fire you still need fuel, heat, and air. Last...'
An arrow whizzed by my face
'Superior cores are very sought after. Spirit, how many are there?'
'One natural and three humans, one bowman, two melee fighters, the natural is likely a normal core'
'Thanks, let's just hope he's not a wind or ice mage.'
I created a ball of wood from a nearby tree and dried it out. A little fire and it would have made a decent signal, but unlike other mages, I have to replicate normal fire instead of creating it myself, and so as soon as the ball gets out of my range I would be unable to sustain the flames.
This didn't dissuade me, and I dropped the burning ball and replicated pressure manipulation by manipulating the air. I created a high-pressure zone to stoke the flames and they spread to the nearby trees, this started a forest fire and forced my assailants to go around. I used that time to land and let Orin out.
"Hey! The fox isn't supposed to be that big! This wasn't in the contract!"
A man with a bow started shaking scared from the giant fox that had appeared out of Ingen's shadow. Orin was the size of the miniature workshop at this point and had some affinity for wind manipulation, he was subtly increasing the pressure on the warriors, only enhancing his intimidation. The bowman ran with soiled pants.
I hopped on Orin's huge back and he took off very quickly towards the school grounds, his step lightened by wind. The only worry now was the natural with an unknown attribute. Suddenly, Orin stopped.
"What's going on buddy? Why did we stop?"
"Uh... I'm stuck."
The vegetation on the forest floor had grown to tangle Orin's feet, leaving him helpless.
"So you're a plant mage eh? With my buddy here stuck I guess there is no choice." I feigned calm while I stalled, hoping to attract a professor with the forest fire I started.
I walked over to a nearby tree and constructed my Full Guard Armor, then I drew a rune, Indse, (Unbreakable). The full plate of living wood got shiny and became extremely hard and equally hard to manipulate, but it left telekinesis untouched, so I could still slowly move. I built my signature quarterstaff and got into a defensive stance, but before I was attacked, my assailants started to be forced downward into a kneel.
"Why must my student cause so much trouble? First, there was the tree, then the 'workshop in the hall incident' and now you've gone and lit the forest on fire and attracted core hunters to the school."
'Thank Wyrd he's here, I'm not sure how long I could keep those guys away from my weak spots.'
"Teacher! -huff- -huff- Thank goodness you're here -huff-, I'm -huff- running out of Eneru already and -huff- this armor is -huff- intense."
I dropped Full Guard, leaving its parts to litter the forest floor. The plant mage lost focus on Orin's bindings and Orin picked me up off the forest floor and put me on his back, taking my immobilized body to the school. Most of the teachers were headed towards the battlefield to either apprehend the hunters or put out my fire.
I didn't care, I was unable to do anything but turn my neck and look around. With my Eneru conductivity, when I ran out of Eneru, I would no longer go unconscious, but rather just be immobilized for a while.
I rested in my dorm for about an hour before I was almost back to capacity, I pulled off my glasses and cast a temporary vision correction spell. I drew the rune Rive, (Reveal) on my beloved glasses, bringing up it's spirit paper. I had found that I didn't need to make a new item for each enchantment, in fact, if you could fit your instructions on the front and back of a spirit paper, you could enchant as much as you wanted.
My latest enchantment was close to filling my glasses' paper, after I put the finishing touch on it, my enchantment: Golem Glass would fill the entire back of the spirit paper, leaving one line. When I finished, I decided to name my glasses, since now they were essentially unchangeable, I used the last line to name them "Spectacles of Insight." It was time to finally test them out. I went to Professor James's classroom, pointed at my first (not very well built) golem, and spoke the command word.
"Assess."

'I knew about its traits but damn, only 4% armor integrity? Not to mention it can't even be fitted with a core, and not only that but it's slow and Eneru inefficient! At least its coolant efficiency is good.'
"I've got my work cut out for me."
