I had been putting off wearing my uniform for a while now 'cause I didn't want to get it dirty, but now I could finally put it on. At first, I thought it was way too big, but when I put it on, it shrunk to fit me. I grabbed my trunk and started to run downstairs.
"Don't forget breakfast!" Mom's voice echoed through the house
'Shoot! Orin's still asleep!'
I ran upstairs, woke up my companion, and motioned for him to get into my shadow. He woke up, yawned, and vanished into my shadow for another nap.
"Coming mom!"
I ran downstairs again to pick up my breakfast, mom put it in a bag and handed it to me. I got to the porch and I noticed the lack of sweat on my body from all the running, in fact, it felt cool in the uniform. Not only that, but the crumbs of the bread from breakfast that fell on my uniform disintegrated, leaving no trace. Surely there are more functions, but I have yet to find them.
'Oh yeah, I was going to school'
I turned my head towards the street and saw two figures walking towards me.
'My glasses!'
Father walked up behind me and handed me a pair of glasses, these ones were different though, they conducted Eneru. In fact, they do in the same way my uniform does. I put them on and Father handed me a piece of paper, on it, there was listed a set of features. First, it was capable of zooming in like binoculars. Second, it was compatible with my matter manipulation. Third, they were practically indestructible. Lastly, if I wanted, I could make a record of people I've met. The last one was purely for organization and couldn't be used to get new information.
"These are great! Thanks, dad!" I gave him a hug and went towards the two "figures" I saw earlier who turned out to be a set of professors from school, one female, one male. I added them in the log as [Professors?].
"You are Ingen right?" the female professor asked as if talking to a toddler.
'I guess I am pretty young.'
"Yes ma'am."
I tried walking down the porch steps when my balance failed me again, leaving me under my trunk, face down. I was expecting to hit the ground, but I didn't, I was floating just barely off the ground. Apparently one of the professors decided they didn't want to clean up a nose bleed. Another thing I noticed was that the air was thicker than it should be. Could it be that they can change pressure?
I put my arms out and stood up.
"Thank you very much." I bowed in the general direction of the professors.
"Be careful with those horns little guy." The male professor laughed heartily
"Alright, now that we've conquered the stairs, let's go to school." The female professor proclaimed
A carriage appeared out of thin air. The male professor lifted me into it and got in himself.
"Sir what is your name?"
"Just call me Teacher, as for the lady, she is Professor Lana."
I updated the log, but I was curious about Teacher's real name.
"Why are you called Teacher?"
"That's for me to know and you to not."
"What do you teach."
"Well aren't you curious little one, I teach Math 1 and Pre-Enchantment and I will be your personal magic teacher."
"Is that because I have a Superior Spirit?"
"No, every student has a personal teacher, every student has slightly different Eneru so it would be impossible to teach them all at once."
Professor Lans's voice cut through the carriage walls "We're here!"
Teacher lifted me out of the carriage and onto a grassy green courtyard. At the end of the courtyard lay a school, not a particularly large one, but a school none-the-less.
"You got lucky to join us this enrollment period, we do one every month and you discovered your Core just on time. Go inside, we've got to test your abilities."
There were 8 tests. Math, Eneruology, Physics, and Enchantment all happened during the first day. After the tests, we would go to our dorms and get acquainted with them, and once we heard the bell, we would go to sleep. The following day, we tested Spelling, Runic Language, Reading, and Aptitude. My scores were as follows:
Math: A+ (Top Student)
Eneruology: C-
Physics: A+ (Top Student)
Enchantment: D
Spelling: B+ (Top Student)
Runic Language: F-
Reading: B
Aptitude: First Stage 68% (Top Student)
'Dayum I knew I was good, but not that good'
Spirit tried to calm my ego and reminded me of my, "extracurricular" studies.
'So what if I learned it in another world, I still learned it, did I not?'
Orin woke up to our quarrel but wasn't interested, he hopped out of my shadow and laid on my lap.
'Cinnamon roll' I thought, petting his head
A voice permeated the room and said: "All first-year students please report to the lobby, again, all first-year students please report to the lobby."
The first-year students, including me, started off to the lobby. We were walking through the halls when I spotted a boy with small moose-like antlers looking at his results sadly. I snuck a peek at them and giggled.
Math: F
Magical Theory: B+
Physics: D-
Enchantment: F
Spelling: C+
Runic Language: A-
Reading: C+
Magical Aptitude: First Stage 3%
'He should just quit, he's going to die when he gets his first real test back.'
'He has his own strengths, He's even better than you in Runic Language and Eneruology.' My Spirit tried again in vain to curb my ego.
'None of that matters if he has no aptitude.'
'You're underestimating him.'
'Oh Really...'
"Hey, small-horns! Spar with me after school."
The mention of his smaller than average horns lit a fire in the young boy and he said:
"Sure top-heavy, just don't cry when you lose!"
[Small-Horns] appeared in my logs.
