Dreams
I don't know why I feel so uncomfortable when I am in our house. I always heard my mom and dad fighting. The main reason was about my mom's other man. It hurts me, knowing that my mom just stay because of me. And every time I heard my dad scold and throws up those bottle of rums in his room's wall, winched me in so much nervous.
I was afraid. Afraid that my mom might leave us. What would I do then?
"Bakit hindi ka marunong makuntento sa kung anong meron ka, Adelaine!" my dad's voice echoed, that even here in my room, I heard it loud and clear.
"Stop acting like you are a saint, Daylan! It's your fault! It's all your fault! Stop blaming me or someone else's for your stupidness!"
That was the worst fight they have before my mom left.
"M-Mom," umiiyak na saad ko habang nakatingin kay Mommy na nag-iimpake ng mga damit nito.
"I'm sorry, Delaney. When you grow up, you'll understand why I did this."
I shake my head as the tears keeps on falling from my eyes. How could she do this to me?
"P-Please, Mom, don't leave us. D-don't leave me ..." I begged.
But just like what I've expected, she left me, and chose the man who also have a family. How could my mother chose other people over me.
That was the reason why my father always get drunk. Walang mintis, araw-araw, gabi-gabi. I saw how my dad's in pain.
I was 16 years old when my mother left us. Since then, I am the one who deal everything, even our company. I strived hard and make myself busy, just to avoid thinking about Mommy.
"Dad, I'm taking up my exam in Military School yesterday. And I already have the result," nakangiti pero naiiyak na saad ko. But as usual, he didn't react. He's still in coma.
"D-Dad, I passed the exam. P-please.... wake up, I want you to know that I've got the highest score. I know you're proud of me."
"I-I want to hear it from you, Dad. I want you to say 'you're proud of me'. I love you so much, Daddy."
I shed my tears that day. I am so much disappointed to my Mom, and worried to my father.
It's been 10 months after my dad involved in the car accident. He was the one driving the car. And he's drunk when he accidentally bumped his car to the 10 wheeler truck across the road. Wasak ang sasakyan ni Daddy, and thankfully he's alive, but in coma.
I blamed my Mom for that. If it's because of her, nasa mabuting kalagayan sana si Daddy ngayon. I hated her for that. I hated what she did to us. I hated her for leaving us and be with an asshole.
"Tita, bibisita ako every vacant day ko po. I'll check on him every now and then."
"Don't worry about Kuya Daylan, Laney. I'll make sure that he's all fine. Just focus on your training, Hija."
Tita Metchelle is my dad's only sister, will be the one who's going to take care of my father while I'm in training.
"Thank you so much, Tita. Bibisita po ako."
I hugged Daddy and Tita Metchelle before leaving the hospital. Tomorrow will be the start of my training.
Pero sa isiping iyon, it gave me more courage to do what I really want to do. It was the first reason why I pursue my dream. It's my Dad's dream too, to see me wearing like his father's uniform, proud and untamable.
"I want to see you wearing the most beautiful uniform we had. I want you to become a soldier, Hija."
My father's dream were about reach. I'll start it soon.
"But she's more beautiful if she becomes a pilot, Daylan," my mom suggested.
My mom's dream is to become a pilot, pero 'di niya iyon natupad dahil nabuntis ito ni Daddy.
The memories of them, talking about my dreams lingered on my mind, sending a bitterness on my mood.
'I'll pursue my dreams and my father's. And I'll make sure, she'll regret her decision of choosing another man over us.'
