A breezy Saturday morning arrived: the day of the concert. Everyone's looking forward to this day; well, not at least what they had planned to do or attend for this day.
Tamitha writhed in her bed, refusing to get up. However, she's been waiting to this day to come since she wasn't able to share that piece of information she discovered with Pollux. Both of them got extremely busy: her preparing for the concert with Pearl, shopping a bunch of things and all of that girly stuff, and Pollux with his boxing tournament of some sort.
Now, she finally got time to spare. She's planning to tell Pollux today. She grabbed her phone at her black wooden and metal frame nightstand. Tamitha composed a message to Pollux saying to meet her on the rooftop. Moments later, she still has received no response, making her more impatient than she could ever be.
Tamitha's agitated knowing that her best friend's out there could be in grave danger, yet here she is sleeping comfortably to her queen-sized bed. Tamitha's too desperate; she wanted to guarantee Pearl's safety because the longer she waits, the longer she can't forgive herself for not doing the best she can to search for Pearl.
The lass closed her eyes and took a deep breath — "Screw it!" She half-shouted and jumped out of her bed. She took heavy steps on the way to her closet and got her outfit out that Pearl prepared for her. After she took a refreshing bath; her lavender scent quickly dispersed, giving off a more soothing place to be at the moment. She grabbed the clothes she prepared earlier. She's wearing tight high-waisted ripped jeans showing off her curves, partnered with a black large 'The Strokes' band merch t-shirt Pearl picked out for her. Lastly, she wore her Air Force sneakers. Then, she grabbed her small backpack and put all essentials she needed.
Tamitha's finally good to go and waited for Pollux at the rooftop since the concert wouldn't even start for six more hours. She must feel uneasy for not doing anything for Pearl. Tamitha felt helpless that she can't even solve those cryptic messages without Pollux's help.
Tamitha walked out of her room when she glimpsed outside from her window. The snow's slowly falling into those large trees. Since the holiday's approaching: the snow was inevitable. A pile of white, fluffy, and cold flakes filled the entire town from last night's snowstorm. Tamitha sighed and hurriedly grabbed herself a puffer long coat thickened hooded jacket perfect for today's cold weather. She also grabbed herself a red mitten along with a red knitted patterned scarf, which was a gift from her mother last year.
After texting Pollux again; she put her phone back in her pocket and then took a deep breath before heading out of her room. The lass didn't see Pearl anywhere in their entertainment room, although she could still smell the powerful aroma of coffee the lass probably had earlier. 'She's probably taking a bath right now.' Tamitha muttered before completely going out of their dorm room.
She took a quick visit to her laboratory before heading directly to the rooftop. As soon as she left the building and head to the rooftop, a chilly breeze met her skin, instantly sent a shiver to all parts of her body. Her face turned rosy, and she could see her breath in the air every time she would sigh. She suddenly regrets the thought of waiting for Pollux at the rooftop. She stopped her tracks, but then she remembered her best friend's situation that made her endure the cold weather and continued walking confidently, head up high; determined to know if her best friend was that person in their dorm or was she really in danger.
She finally arrived at the rooftop, though she struggled a bit opening the heavy door but still managed to enter the place. All she could see was white because of the snow and those festoon lights and garlands below that the school prepared to commemorate the upcoming festivity. She was busy adoring the fancy decoration she didn't notice that she wasn't alone on the rooftop.
The unknown cleared his throat to catch Tamitha's attention, which he successfully did. She gasped and her black eyes brimmed with hope, knowing that she no longer has to wait for Pollux. Smiling, as she diverts her whole body to the person behind her only to find out that the person here right now was not the person she's looking forward to seeing.
"C-Castor?" Tamitha breathed. She sounds disappointed and at the same time confused. She tried smiling, but her eyebrows can't help but furrowed, not understanding why Castor's here.
"You didn't bother hiding your disappointment." Castor joked. Tamitha didn't find it funny making Castor awkward. He scratched his nose to hide his embarrassment before approaching Tamitha.
The lad's looking fresh with his blue thick sweater layered with white long-sleeves, partnered with black slim cargo pants with cuffs and black vans low top sneakers completing his look was his cute black beanie.
He put his hands in his sweater's pocket to seek warmth. "What are you doing here?" Tamitha asked, meeting Castor halfway. "I know, I'm not the person you're looking forward to meeting. And I'm sorry that I saw this as an opportunity to tell you this..."
"I can't let another time pass, without telling this to you..."
Tamitha's heart pounded big time when Castor took a minute to continue talking. She suddenly felt a lump in her throat, resisting her to breathe properly. She's not naïve, she knew what's going on, however, she doesn't want to assume something as well, so she waited patiently.
"I-I don't know how should I say this—" Castor laughed, shaking off his nervousness. "All right, here goes nothing—" He whispered, but Tamitha heard it loud and clear.
"Look, I know that we just met a few months back but Tamitha, I'm certain..." His deep-set of brown eyes looked directly at Tamitha making her suppressed her breath. "I'm certain that you're the one... You're the one I would love to have, to hold... to be with — whatever it takes—'whoever' it takes." His voice sounds so soft, sincere, and... enticing. His icy fingers grabbed Tamitha's hand.
Tamitha looked at him, then to their hands, then back to Castor. She tried her best and held her tears back, but failed. "C-C—" She started. She can't bring herself to hurt this precious person in front of her; plus, never once in her life did she imagine having this type of conversation, yet now she's having one. There are too many things going on with her life right now. This is too much for her to handle.
She took a deep breath while her eyes shut to prevent her tears from falling. "C, you're special to me... Very special. Except for Pearl, you're my very first friend I had in a long time... I can't lose you, C." She sobbed and hanged her head low to wipe her tears.
"B-But, I'm sorry I don't think I could return those feelings — believe me I would if only I could do it... Y-You're a lovely person." Tamitha can't hold her tears any longer, they continuously ran down her cheeks with trembled lips she kept whispering to Castor how sorry she was.
"I'm sorry." She uttered once more while holding Castor's hand, afraid to let him go. She's comfortable whenever Castor's with her. The young lass felt she could tell him everything but that just beyond it, she only saw him as her best friend, nothing more, nothing less.
She suddenly felt weak, thinking that her best friend might be missing, then this, she might lose Castor too. Her legs wobbled and lose her balance. Luckily, Castor quickly helped her stand properly. He guided her to his arms and gently hugged her, giving her warmth, and somehow Tamitha felt relief with that hug.
"Shhh, I understand... I just took this chance to tell you what I feel towards you, and I'm not expecting anything in return... Because I already know your answer." Castor hushed while patting Tamitha's back to comfort her, but it only made Tamitha sobbed more and continued apologizing.
"No... No, it's not like t-that. There's just so many things g-going on with my life right now. I'm a mess, C!" Tamitha bursted, Castor just let the lass let everything out and just be there for here while caressing her hair softly.
Tamitha's currently in her vulnerable state and he just took this opportunity to be here for her. He sighed and tried humming a song to Tamitha to calm her down while still gently caressing her hair. Which somehow worked, he figured that he picked the wrong time to confess to her and he instantly regretted that.
The lad took a deep sigh, showing off his breath in the air before deciding to free Tamitha from his embrace when he felt she finally calmed down. "It's getting cold. We should head back down now." Castor removed his beanie and wore it into Tamitha's head for extra warmth. Tamitha nodded as a response and slowly walked with Castor out of the rooftop.
"To my defense, I thought something is going on with you and Pearl." Tamitha joked to clear out the awkwardness she's feeling. Castor laughed before answering. "Well, I hanged out with her to know you more..." He got scratched his head, getting all embarrassed.
That warmed her heart. She sighed once more before looking at Castor and let out a small smile. "Really? What did you discover?"
His brown eyes glistened, gotten all excited to share everything he discovered about her. "Well, for starters, you're a sucker for cliché romantic movie—" "What?! No way! That's not true!" Tamitha panicked; her cheeks swiftly turned red. That's supposed to be their secret. She didn't want anyone else to know that she would binge-watch those romantic movies countless times, but still cry her heart out as if it was her first time watching it. She hid her face, really embarrassed that made Castor laugh out loud.
And just like that, everything seemed to be back to normal... At least for now.
