Fumiko walked down the hall and down the long, wide set of stairs. She turned around to go to the kitchen to look at the time because she didn't want to be late for the promposal she sacrificed so much of herself for.
Well, mentally and emotionally...Fumiko did sacrifice a lot to go through with this promposal. However, now was not the time to think about that when she needed to be heading to Aiyana's house right now.
She went into the kitchen and saw the clock on hall, which read 5:45p.m.Her eyes felt like they deceived her,but she knew that didn't.There was only 15 minutes left until it was time for Fumiko to be at Aiyana's house. She wasn't keeping a good enough track of the time and this was the consequence, having to rush in order to be on time for event she planned ahead of time.Fumiko was so worried about being late, her emotions got the better off her and she teleported outside immediately.
Sometimes when Fumiko becomes overwhelmed or overcome with an intense emotion, her powers will behave as they're sentient beings and act on their own.All of her powers were like that from her teleportation to sedation powers, accidentally using them in the heat of heightened emotions.
For the most part,it was never a good thing but this time...she was actually saved by her own inability to not be able to control her powers when she isn't calm or stable.Out of all her incidents with emotional state and her powers being closely linked together, this was the best situation that has come from those incidents.
Fumiko walked out of her mansion's front lawn and made her own off her own property to get to Aiyana's house all in one piece. She walked down the street and stopped at a streetlight to take out her compact from mini purse, wanting to apply some glittery pink gloss to her naturally dark pink lips.
Fumiko took out a tube of Pearl Mint Lip Gloss and applied it to her lips, making sure the shimmer pink tint was noticeable on her lips. She quickly put her compact and lip gloss away in her mini purse as she turned into the Aiyana's part of the neighborhood.
Fumiko decided to walk a bit slower,so she wouldn't ruin the beautiful poster that she made for Aiyana. She wanted to jog, run,or even teleport, but she didn't want to risk ruining her poster or using her powers when she didn't need to.Aiyana's house was just at the very end of her street, which wasn't a long walking distance within her part of the neighborhood.Fumiko thought it would be lazy and unnecessary to just teleport to Aiyana's driveway when she's within a short walking distance.
In the meantime,Fumiko was mentally preparing herself for making this promposal as special for Aiyana as possible. That's all she needed to be focused on at this very moment before anything else that could distract her.Fumiko took a big gulp and a deep breath, settling any uneasiness or anxiety that may be left in her system.
"Here I am,putting everything out on the line...I'm ready to see what risks I may be taking and it's all worth."Fumiko said, approaching Aiyana's driveway and taking slow yet confident steps to Aiyana's doorbell.
Fumiko rang Aiyana's doorbell and waited patiently. She backed away from the door itself and stood in the middle of the driveway.Fumiko took the mini remote control from her mini purse and pressed the button confidently,an array of beautiful golden yellow lights illuminating the dark night sky and the promposal poster.
Fumiko looked at the lights she put up earlier today and smiled in approval because of how beautiful the lights were. She knew that Aiyana would absolutely be in awe since she loved anything Fumiko did for her,no matter how big or small.Fumiko heard footsteps and got excited, turning the lights off after deciding to surprise Aiyana with lights on as soon as she stepped outside. It was a last minute decision on Fumiko's part, but she was confident about it.
Aiyana opened the door and stepped on her doorstep, not knowing what Fumiko had in store for her.Without missing a beat and acting faster than when she did the trial run,Fumiko pressed the button on the mini remote controller and golden yellow lights lit up the dark blue atmosphere around them. The poster lights also lit up the driveway area from where Fumiko was standing, revealing the poster she had made for Aiyana.
Aiyana's eyes widened in awe and amazement, which also caused her jaw to drop almost immediately after. Her driveway and the top part of the roof above her door were transformed into a man-made starry night sky, which was incredibly beautiful and had romantic undertones to it.Aiyana looked wherever she saw the golden yellow lights and huge smile formed across her face, the smile suddenly softening at the realization she came to after putting aside her excitement.
Fumiko took all this time and effort just to ask her to the homecoming dance, but she didn't have do something so extravagant to ask her.
Aiyana didn't think she was that special, but Fumiko always made her feel special whether she knew it or not.Whenever they would sit together at lunch and Aiyana got most of Fumiko's attention just by being herself, not really thinking much about how she was the best friend of someone like Fumiko.
Someone who was beautiful, intelligent, graceful, and overall an amazing person in general to Aiyana. The fact that her best friend wanted to go to the homecoming dance with her of all people made Aiyana feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
"She could be going to homecoming with anyone but she wants to go with me."Aiyana thought to herself, smiling softly and feeling like she was given the biggest honor that most boys would be jealous of.
Aiyana stepped off her doorstep and walked towards Fumiko. Before she said or did anything else,Aiyana wanted to know why Fumiko did something so special for her.She had an idea of why in her head, but she wanted an actual answer from Fumiko herself.
"What's all this? Why did you do all of this for me?"Aiyana asked in a confused tone with the same soft smile, gesturing at Fumiko's poster and golden lights display.
"I wanted to ask you to be my date to the homecoming dance!"Fumiko exclaimed, confidence and certainty palpable in her tone. She looked at Aiyana, starting to feel a little bit nervous about what was going to happen next.Nevertheless, she shoved those nervous feelings back down where they came from and popped the question she had been meaning to ask since September.
"Will you be my date to homecoming dance,Aiyana?"Fumiko asked, waiting for the answer to put an end to her apprehensiveness once and for all.Aiyana couldn't contain the smile that quickly growing on her face nor could she contain the unexplainable warmth her face heating up her cheeks.
She definitely felt it but she knew Fumiko wouldn't be able to notice unless her face was bright red, which Aiyana highly doubted that was the case because her Caramel Brown skintone would be able to mask it well.
Aiyana tried her best to keep herself from smiling like an idiot at Fumiko. She also tried her best not to look like she was blushing or something while trying to think of an excuse if her cheeks didn't go unnoticed.Aiyana knew what her answer was going to be,but she didn't want to sound or look stupid when she said it.
"Well,I might as well just say it now...there's nothing I have lose."Aiyana thought to herself, getting ready to answer Fumiko once and for all.
"Yeah,I'll be your date to the homecoming dance...I wouldn't really want to go with anyone else besides you."Aiyana said, trying not to sound too excited or eager. To be honest, she wanted to shout it from the rooftops that Fumiko is her date to the homecoming dance.Aiyana was beyond ecstatic and could feel her heart racing with excitement, but she didn't want to seem weird about it.
She felt her cheeks get a little hotter from the thought of being Fumiko's date to the homecoming dance, but she didn't understand why her feelings were intensified to this magnitude.Aiyana looked back up at Fumiko and noticed something she wish saw sooner.
Fumiko wasn't wearing a jacket and it was early October, which meant it was cold and windy just standing there on her driveway.Aiyana frowned slightly, something that didn't go unnoticed by Fumiko.
"What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"Fumiko asked, starting to worry due to the newfound frown on Aiyana's face.Fumiko hoped it wasn't anything too serious, but she waited for Aiyana's response before reacting any further.
"You're not wearing a jacket...aren't you cold right now?"Aiyana responded, still frowning and concerned. Before Fumiko could answer her question and explain that she was fine, she felt something covering her arms and shoulders almost instantly after Aiyana spoke.
Fumiko realized that Aiyana took off her own jacket and put it on her without a second thought because she didn't want her to be cold.Fumiko blushed profusely at how adorable and heartwarming she thought that was, even going so far as to put her left hand over her heart because she was so emotionally moved.
"I thought it would be selfish of me to wear this while you're standing out here in the cold with no jacket."Aiyana explained, glancing at Fumiko and the driveway to avoid the feeling of embarrassment."I don't want you to get cold on the way home or anything like that...so just wear on the way back home, okay?"Aiyana continued, wanting Fumiko to just keep her jacket for the time being.
"I will wear on the way back home, but there's still more I want to talk to you about...if that's okay with you?"Fumiko informed her, wanting to discuss further about the homecoming dance with Aiyana. She still needed to read Aiyana the poem she had wrote, show Aiyana the poster in depth, and ask Aiyana to wear a golden yellow gown to match her white gown for the aesthetic of the homecoming theme.
Fumiko was so honored that Aiyana would be her date to the homecoming dance.Fumiko was also relieved that this chapter in her life was coming to a close and she was going to see more exciting ones begin in her near future. This time with Aiyana undoubtedly by her side, joining her through the ups and downs of life.Fumiko was finally beginning to see in her dreams of freedom getting closer with each and every step she took.
